    Textbook perfection, and your delivery is fantastic! No obnoxious background music, no inane chatter, just beautiful demonstration, with a quiet yet very informative style. You are truly delightful, and your video is beyond enjoyable just to watch, never mind we actually LEARN from you. It is now April 2019, and your video is just as wonderful today as it was when you uploaded. More, more, MORE, please!

    I find once you have the first coat of nail polish the second coat is either easier OR, like me, I get a bit impatient and flood the nail polish which sinks/slides into the sides.
    Doing your own nails can be rewarding and frustrating. Yesterday I spent 2 & 1/2 hours doing my own nails.

      It just saw this other tutorial and she said that it helps to hold your hand upside down for a little while (just 5-10 seconds, I guess) right before curing. This makes the polish "flow" back to the top of the nail. Seemd very logical to me. Maybe this helps? Good luck :)

    • @valeriebumblebee7607
      @valeriebumblebee7607 2 года назад

    THANK YOU! GOD BLESS YOU! Subscribe!!! This 3 year old video is still great to me!!!! I have looked everywhere for a video that answered this ONLY ONE question and haven't found it until now. I like to answer one thing at a time and then try to find the answer to my next question if and when it comes up. Trying to teach myself to do my own nails but just kept having trouble getting a little on the cuticle and that leading to lifting later on. I would love to go to nail tech school some day but for now I'm a stay at home mom with 3 kiddos, 1 of which is severely disabled, 1 is a toddler in that in to everything stage and 1 is doing 100% virtual kindergarten so I'm basically homeschooling. In other words, I don't have a ton of time to focus on nails but nap time and late at night are fun and you just made it better. Does this same technique apply to builder gel and/or acrylic (both paint on and/or dip)? Haven't used any acrylic yet just the gel so far but never know what the future holds and I'm always open to suggestions!

    • @NailswithCourtneyCrosbie
      @NailswithCourtneyCrosbie  3 года назад

      Yes! I'm so glad it helped! Sounds like you have your hands full. I feel you 🤗 yes, the same kindof applies to builder gel and acrylic/dip with builder gel you float it from below the cuticle and work your way up ( kindof like gel polish ) acrylic , you apply the Brad below the cuticle and press it up towards the cuticle. And for dip, you would apply the liquid ( glue part of the system) exactly the same as I have with the gel polish here! Have fun and keep learning, you'll be a step ahead when you decide to go to school xo

      Hi 👋 no, you don't want to remove the tacky layer of the colored gel or base coat. The only time you clean the nail is before applying basecoat, and after applying topcoat ( only if the topcoat has a tacky layer. Most are no wipe nowadays)

    @dom_dc348 6 лет назад +4

    So I just did my first gel manicure on myself and I have it all on my cuticles and on the sides lol! And it’s cured 😂...I will get better I’m sure...but in the meantime is there a way to clean up the gel polish once it’s been cured? Will the pure acetone work with a brush? Or am I screwed?

    • @NailswithCourtneyCrosbie
      @NailswithCourtneyCrosbie  6 лет назад +7

      DC_POPPIN THOUGH oh dear, we've all been there. It's best to use a brush to clean it off before you cure, but if you do cure it to your skin, you can apply some cuticle oil, leave it for a few minutes and then use a file to GENTLY scrape it off your skin. If it's really thick and attached to the nail as well as the skin you'll need to make a break between the nail and the skin. Usually the sharp edge of a file will be able to seperate it. You may experience lifting of the polish in these areas. Next time, take your time and clean them all up before you put them in the lamp Xo

    • @NailswithCourtneyCrosbie

      Street Queens Founder you may be buffing them too smooth. A brand new 180 grit block works best. What products are you using?

    • @ReiJohnson1990
      @ReiJohnson1990 6 лет назад

      Nails with Courtney Crosbie gelaze products and i cant buff my nails but so smooth b.c they are very thin right now and even more than a little bit of buffing will be down to the skin☹

    • @NailswithCourtneyCrosbie
      @NailswithCourtneyCrosbie  6 лет назад

      Street Queens Founder that sounds like your problem. Gel polish won't adhere to thin nails well. If it's lifting from the cuticle and free edge as well as the free edge it could be anything from the quality of your nails to improper prep/application. You can also dehydrate the nail too much.
