I liked the sims 3 fishing mechanics much better. each fish had a particular type of bait that it liked. Want a lot of deathfish, fish using angelfish as bait.
I prefer TS3 as well. I wish I knew if my understanding of TS4 bait was ever real, or if they just nuked it out of nowhere like a few other things (like fertilizer). When I finally understood fertilizer it had been changed and radically reduced in usefulness to the point they even nuked things like grow fruit and herbalism fertilizer. The dumbing down of mechanics makes me mad, and you said it yourself. I'd prefer to learn about a game and take advantage of its mechanics over time. The learning process is desirable.
Without the bees in seasons, it is very difficult to evolve plants since they nuked the fertilizer mechanics. I wouldn't call the mechanics of fishing or gardening dumbed down, but devoid of utility.
“This is actually the same way that calming yourself down in a mirror works, along with all the other ‘ease tension’ or ‘spill my guts about how I peed myself and got slapped by Bella Goth’ socials.” 😆
Great help. I’m new to 4. There are a lot of subtle differences between Sims 3 and 4. Like all fish qualities offering the same fertilizer value. Good to know. Huge fan of all of your work. Thank you.
We need a fish breeding option in the future it would be so much fun to breed different fishes and get new types like the graft for garden but made for our cute fishes :( Also breeding different qualities for example normal and excellent will get you 80% chance of normal quality and 20% chance of excellent or something like that
I found the red tail shark in the oasis springs commercial district, the bottom of the world where the fishing spots are curvy protrusions. A streamer I was watching that was trying to complete the fishing collection found it there too.
Just started a fishing sim on a empty lot with $0. Basically homeless survival. First thing I did was go fishing and I immediately caught a gold bar. Few in game days later I did it again. Who knows being homeless would be so easy! 😂
If you fish near your house, you can drag the fish that you caught to the refrigerator Inventory window. That can keep them fresh, until you decide what to do with them.
Looks like you'll need to update this video due to the fishing overhaul for Island Living. The devs seemed to have utilized more of the sims 3 fishing mechanics, which I like.
Thank you so much for putting this together. Also this was your 50th video.. ? 🤨... Dang you've come a long way, though I really enjoy all your content. I'm currently doing the single dad challenge on my channel and the family I'm playing as is homeless right now. Looking for some more methods of sustainability so I definitely appreciate you making this incredibly comprehensive guide. Danke!
You made me want to try fishing again. My sim caught his first pretty fish and hangs it in the kitchen as decoration. Child of the ocean wife comes in and starts crying .... husband discretely removed the fish ._.; I... I will have to try fishing with another household
I had sims that could identify fishes in conversations (Fittingly one was based on the Roman Sea God and the planet Neptune) but I could never find the spots
that's amazing! I'm impressed by how complex the Sims 4 game is and how complex the Sims are, I wont never stop playing it! I love all the details and all the complexity and variety about that game.
Is there still that weird glitch going on where a fish tank gives sims an uncomfortable "messy place" moodlet? I never noticed a patch note about it but maybe I missed it. That was a problem for me a while ago so I eventually just stopped with the fish tanks in general, but I do think they're pretty! I'd love to use them again. Does anyone else still have that issue or know about it getting fixed? And thanks for the hard work, Carl! Congrats on vid # 50!
I'm no native english speaker so I've never seen the word angling 😯 I'm half German and half Portuguese. I always see and hear you guys talking about fishing, fisherman etc. And as I looked into this thumbnail I saw the word Angling, I translated it into German and its the same meaning, a similar word: Angeln (German) = angling, fishing. I'm fishing would be "Ich angle". or I will go fishing" = "Ich werde angeln gehen". So, Germans tend like 78% to say Angeln but there are Germans too that use the word "Fischen" so you can sometimes hear "Ich gehe angeln" or "Ich gehe fischen" = I go fishing, angling. Then I googled about the etymology of the word "Angling" and its from Old English, so Angler was a last name and came to mean fisherman (same in German Angler = Fisherman) and 1500 from the verb angle: "fish with a hook" so its from the old English word angel wich means angle, but also fishhook. Fishhook is "Angelhaken" in German. So Angel = Rod + haken = hook So in German "Angel" is that what you call "rod", the fishing tool consisting of hook, line and rod. The Etymology of Angel in German came from Middle High German "Angel" - (with a G sound not J sound); and from Old High German angul, Proto Germanic: *angulō, hook, angle and from Proto-Indo-European *h₂enk- (“something bent, hook”). Compare Dutch angel, hengel, English angle. That's what I read and maybe thats why you use the same word too. Angling sounds so sweet. And I was also looking which fishing, angling book my Sim needs to read, when his skill level is 4 and there are just 3 books about fishing. I didn't watch the video to the end but I'll be doing that right now, so I'm sorry for asking first without watching the video to the end, but I'm gonna watch rn. Thank you and happy new year for everybody.
Honestly thanks for preventing me from wasting my time fishing at the same spot. At this point I'm just gonna change my sims aspiration, as handiness isn't a route I wanted her to go down, and the idea of going to all of these locations sounds tedious
Is there a list of fish that can be caught in NewCrest as a casual thing? Or would sims have to be in the other worlds to get anything that isnt common?
The black shark i dont have is too hard get this fish but i still trying.thx for the vid.btw carl you can do a video about the gnomes because almost no one know how to do with them in a good way.
My sim has spent about a sim week straight fishing in forgotten grotto across the 3 spots with bait (they don’t need to sleep etc.) and I just can’t catch the last couple of fish…
You can click on the grocery store icon and then there should be an option that allows you to sell the fish/vegetables if not then go in your inventory and click sell stack that's how I do it but the grocery one depending on how much fish you exactly have feels like it pays more :)

i think Sims 3 is better hehehe
*goes to oasis w/lvl8 skill, doesn't figure on catching much, puts guppy on for bait, redtail shark instantly jumps on line*
Oh god, oh fuck
*oh no. I'm gonna die.*

Looks like we're fishing tonight boys. Been looking forward to this video before I finally completed my fish collection. Thanks.

Spirit X but that’s like frogs so I doubt they would do that again for fish

someone needs to make a mod that gives us the "spill my guts about how i peed myself and got slapped by bella goth" social. for reasons.
You made me want to try fishing again. My sim caught his first pretty fish and hangs it in the kitchen as decoration. Child of the ocean wife comes in and starts crying .... husband discretely removed the fish ._.;

I need Outdoor Retreat aspiration help!
How do you catch an angelfish?
I used a fish at the Desert location.
I had sims that could identify fishes in conversations (Fittingly one was based on the Roman Sea God and the planet Neptune) but I could never find the spots

If you have only the base game you can catch 22 out of the 24 fish in forgotten grotto and the other 2 in silven Glade
Why do some of the fish signs sparkle?
I bought fish in buy mode and I can’t place them in my inventory
As always a great vid :D., I been hope you do a Politician vid.

Honestly thanks for preventing me from wasting my time fishing at the same spot. At this point I'm just gonna change my sims aspiration, as handiness isn't a route I wanted her to go down, and the idea of going to all of these locations sounds tedious
You got a talent for explaining stuff,
Is there a list of fish that can be caught in NewCrest as a casual thing? Or would sims have to be in the other worlds to get anything that isnt common?
