I remember when I first got these over 10 years ago and the internet service provider technician from Optimum said they never saw one before. Almost didn't know what it was, but was surprised how well they worked to bring signal up from the modem in the basement to the top floor to my desktop.
You may be getting only 10 up and 10 down because your on two different circuits in your house i.e., the basement is on one circuit breaker on your panel and your router is on another circuit breaker on your panel. These things work best when they're on the same circuit supposedly. For you, the better solution would be to get mesh wifi. Your base station would be full bandwidth (65 mbps) and each mesh node would be about 50% of that, so 3x what you're getting downstairs. The days of a single router providing wifi throughout the house are long over. Just something to think about.
I know this an old video but I have a question. Is it possible to use this without the WiFi. I looking to disable the WiFi and only use the LAN. Is this possible?
I have a question… I don’t know much about extenders.. if I connect my router to the extender through Ethernet, can I use the “Ethernet internet” to create a new WiFi through the extender, while my routers wireless WiFi is turned off? I’ll appreciate every answer 🙏🏻
Here’s the kicker I bought this thing this morning, did this exact thing, had the exact same results, all 3 solid green lights, No internet connection I hate them tbh
I am considering getting a powerline adapter. I moved houses, and the plug situation in my house sucks. The length my wifi signal has to travel to my extender is too far, and since it's Xfinity, I just keep getting drops and my devices try connecting to the gateway instead of the extender. I can't stream at all anymore, so I'm going to look into this.
My powerline is too far from the internet router. Can I plug this thing into a 6strip? Can I connect a switch to my router, make the TP LInk one, and the Orbi the other?
Don’t you also have to make sure you plug the two Ethernet adapters into two different household circuits? I use two power line Ethernet adapters (different brand and only for low-traffic network extension to add Ethernet to two outside walls of our existing structure (to hang WiFi lamps).
Im paying for a gigabyte internet and I only get around 50Mpb when using the TP link adapter. I have a Asus gaming router which should be powerful enough, what can I do? I cant use straight ethernet because it will get in the way.

If you have a 50Mbps plan and only gets 10Mbps down with this "wired" powerline solution I won't say it's pretty good, right? I have a super old house and just tested this out and it does not work for me at all...

You need to make sure the power line adapter is connected to the same circuit as the router power is connected to. In this video I had it connected to the same circuit but I found that later when I wanted to put a computer upstairs I didn’t get a consist signal
Powerline is just far more powerful than any extender. In fact, extenders takes signal from your router and "eats" half of the mbps and transfers it to you where you have a dead zone. So if you have 20mbps plan, the extender will distribute only 10mpbs to the dead zone you need to cover. They consume a lot!
I’m using CAT 5a too. You need to make sure that you are connecting to the same plugs on the same breaker. If you go from downstairs to upstairs it will throttle your speeds
