We ran a 145 ‘79 & ‘80. Pulled an 8 bottom plow real well. Never had it stuck. It would start to spin, you’d try to raise up the plow and the wheels would disappear in the mud. Tractor would just keep pulling it and plowing with mud going over the tops of the wheels until you were out.
Pulled a 24 foot chisel plow 7.5 mph working summer fallow.
Folks traded the 145 for a brand new 835 because they didn’t want me to go deaf.
Ran the 835 on 24.5x32s for a couple years so we could drive in the furrow. Got it stuck bad a couple times and put 18.4 x38s on as duals to the 24.5s. Same OD.
Still use the 835 a little, even though I’m retired. Love these old tractors.

I've got one of those. Great old tractor. Mine's now powered by a Cummins 5.9 12 valve engine. Much better hp and torque.

Not bad at all. Fits in nicely. Turned up the hp to over 200. Where are you located?

I can take photos of everything. Mounts, clutch, all that if you're interested. The 5.9 can get you over 200hp, do it at 2400rpm, sound better, and have better fuel economy.

Why has it sat for that long? Did you quit farming? Mine sat for about 9 years, guy that owned it had an accident and couldn't use it anymore. Gave it to me because I liked it! Now it's happily in my shop getting a new life.

My brother put a inline 6 isuzu in his 145

Isuzu, huh? What engine? How's the horsepower? The old 145's are still a relevant horsepower unit. Simple, but reliable. The first test bed 145 was tested with a 250hp engine to field test the tractor for reliability. These are tough built machines. This one I have has pulled a DMI 9 shank coulter chisel, 30' field cultivator, 25' disk, 15' offset disk, 6 bottom plow. The 5.9 is smaller, but can easily generate the horsepower you want, provide way better torque, and use less fuel than the old 470.

The isuzu is 8.1liter i believe and has around 220hp it came out of a gmc cab over truck he never has horsepower issues but always runs out of traction has poor tires which dont help will have to get a video once the radiator gets fixed sorry for the late reply

mathew merkl I’d love to see that video! Does it have a cab? I’m thinking about trying to fit a cab off of a 700-800 onto mine.

It does have a cab the tractor was originally used for building ice roads up in the north west terrtitorys in canada then was bought by ny grandpa and used for breaking land in the peace country he also installed a roof top air conditioning and has a air tank using the compressor for the air brakes very handy setup its a work in progress still
