There is a reason to use DS3 controller on Ps2. Since DS4 Sony dropped the pressure-sensitivity inputs in the face buttons feature, because it wasn't used in many games anyway. So if you want to play Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 you'll have a bit harder time playing as those games used this feature in their control schemes.
Jack x racing straight won't allow a PS1 controller to be used because of the pressure sensitivity issue. Does that mean this won't work for that either without pressure sensitive controllers?
there are ~ 130 PS2 games that use pressure sensitive buttons, and it was not only the face buttons. All the buttons except Select and Start are pressure sensitive - so the D pad, L and R triggers, and the 4 shape buttons.
Excellent video, I was interested in this after I found in on sale yesterday, think I’ll get it now. If the input lag is within 100ms in most games, I think it’ll be acceptable 🤩 I probably wouldn’t play something super hard with it though, like God of War II on Titan mode, or Kingdom Hearts on Hard, but should be alright in most cases that didn’t require precision within milliseconds 👍
I'd insta buy 2 of these if they supported Dualshock 3 conts, they not only feel the same but they also have pressure sensitive buttons like the Dualshock 2, it's the literal perfect choice for a wireless PS1/2 adapter, but i guess it's a syncing thing? Although that wasn't a problem before, they even had a little PC tool for it even if it was a bit cumbersone. And whilst the Brooke ones are better simply cause of the wired controller support/ PS3 controller support, these are nice & small and actually color match the PS1, cause as much as i love brook, their converters ain't very aestheticaly pleasing, That's where 8bitdo shines, Brooke's compatibility and 8bitdo's design would honestly be the perfect combo.
Neither has pressure sensitive face buttons, so there isn’t an option that’s “most suitable”. It all comes down to personal preference. I personally prefer the feel of the DualShock 4 in my hand more than the DualSense, which is why I predominantly use it when I play games on my computer. However if you currently have / plan on getting a PS5, then it would probably make sense to go ahead and get a dualsense so you’d have an extra controller for that console. If you don’t plan to own a ps5, then it entirely comes down to which controller you would prefer to own and play with.
It's a shame that this adapter is not compatible with DualShock 3 controllers, I wrote an suggestion email to 8bitdo about it and they replied the following: "Greetings. Nice to hear from you. Thank you for your e-mail and suggest. We will feed back your suggestion/requirement to our team. Sincere regards." Let's hope they add DS3 compatibility in a future update!
After DualShock 4 and now DualSense, can’t make myself to ever go back to using DS3, one of the worst controllers to hold, ever. The triggers are some of the worst feeling, and the shape is awful. But I guess some people would like that. Personally I’m so happy PS3 works perfectly with DS4 even wireless.
I’ve only used a ps4 control, but rumble doesn’t work. I am not sure if I need to do something else, but I figured it would work right out of the box. It’s kinda disappointing it doesn’t work. Aside from that it works great
I can’t say for sure, but I doubt it. This is a Bluetooth receiver, and as far as I can tell the GH controllers had their own proprietary dongles that used its own kind of signal, not Bluetooth.
Just bought two of these and they work great except for the vibration. Sadly in both PS1 & PS2 it's very weak and sometimes doesn't even go off when it should.
Unfortunately, It doesn’t connect to the DS3. I would look into something like the Brook Wingman for that. I haven’t tested it myself, but it claims to work with the DS3 And I can confirm this does work with both models of ps2.
Take this with a grain of salt as I only have experience with the 8BitDo adapter. But it’s hard to say. From the little bit of research I did on the wingman, It seems like the biggest draw to the Wingman is that it supports the DualShock 3 as that would be the most authentic experience to the PS1/2. So if you have a DS3 that you want to use to play PS1/2 games, then the wingman seems like the obvious choice. But if don’t have a DS3 (or don’t care about the few games that used the pressure sensitive face buttons), then I’d say go for the 8BitDo, as it’s going to play the games perfectly fine and is $15 cheaper.
It has not been updated on their website, so I would hazard to say no. If you want ps3 controller compatibility, I have heard that that’s the selling point of the Brook Wingman. I haven’t tried it myself yet though, so I’m unsure if it’s actually any good outside of that.
The 8bitdo or the Brook? Either way, no, but also you don’t need to. They draw their power from the console that they are plugged into. They don’t have batteries inside of them.
So I haven’t tried the blue retro PlayStation adapter, but I do have a blue retro n64 adapter. And I can say that while they accomplish the same thing, the 8bitdo adapter seems to be a bit more consistent with how it behaves. I had some issues getting the n64 adapter to pair properly and it gave me a headache. Once I got it paired up, it works fine. But the 8bitdo adapters I have could not have been easier to get set up and paired. Basically, if they accomplish the same thing and they are basically the same price, I would probably go for the 8bitdo, as it was easier overall to use, and they have an established brand that I feel would be on top of customer service if something goes wrong.
I ordered it but its taking ages its from china,But thank you so much for the tutorial and time to explain the best way controllers too play and pairing the controller's .
8bitdo has a firmware updater that you can download. Open that program and then plug in the receiver with the included usb cable. The only trick is you have to be holding down the pair button when you plug it in to the computer, otherwise it’ll try and act like a Bluetooth receiver rather than entering update mode.
@@TheCartCollector ah thanks for the info. Annoying cos I don’t even have a PC 🙄 and the good know how. I bought it off eBay but didn’t even know or it saying it needs a firmware update via PC. Gunna have to find a friend that may be able to do it for me
Like saving my game progress? No. This is a wireless receiver for Bluetooth controllers. It doesn’t take the place of a memory card, and you still need one of those to save the game. Now if you mean, like it saving a controller so I don’t have to sync it up again the next time I want to play? Then the answer is also no. The controller will link right back to the receiver, so long as it didn’t connect to something else between the last time I used it with the receiver and now. I personally use my old PS4 controller with it, as I have a PS5 now and will play all my PS4 games through that. So the PS4 controller is just collecting dust otherwise, and it can just live with my PS2 to be used like this.
. @TheCartCollector I'm sorry, I expressed myself wrong. I was referring to saving games, it has been reported that the device generates problems with this
I doubt it. On PC, this would only act as a Bluetooth receiver. So if the game doesn’t support the controller, then it wouldn’t work, regardless of the adapter you use.
The PS3 controller has a very weird pairing protocol. Even on Android/Linux it is a pain to set up properly. Best to avoid and move to the PS4 controller or an aftermarket PS3-like controller.

do you get the insert dualshock controller on sum games when using this 🤔
I have a PS5 controller but no PS5 console (yet), I just found it for a VERY cheap price. Now I know what to do with it: play wireless on the PS1!
Is the controller identified as a Dualshock 2 or Analog Controller ? Is there a way to switch in between these modes ?
I'll be getting this for PlayStation 1 and 2, but I'm so confused about what to buy a ps4 or ps5 controller. you try them both, which is Most suitable

What's the input lag with the 8bitdo?
It has a second delay when you push the button, I slowed it down
His upscaler could be contributing to this
