@@RobRoeder53probably 15 car fields. People need to sit back,THINK, and take Nascar out of the way THEY LIVE THEIR LIVES. The teams that field cars on Sunday, are not small town anymore. It’s NOT the local 1/2 mile away track. Teams need Value.
EXCELLENT interview Kenny; also INCREDIBLE breakdown by Denny of this situation! I'm from the sports world, and have worked for both professional hockey, basketball and baseball teams. He's SPOT on...
Yeah this will definitely get worse before it gets better. I bet when this all hopefully gets settled, both sides won’t be happy with the decision but they’ll be relieved it’s over
This is a really delicate situation. Almost 30 years ago, indycar went through their split, and they have never recovered fully. I hope Nascar, the tracks, and the teams learn a few from that situation and get a deal done.
I have seen this kind of tug of war once before. Penske was involved. I see a split just like cart and Indy. The tracks that nascar owns will be the leverage. Race teams will split and find other tracks to run on.
Not enough money in the sport right now for a proper split like the open wheel days. I was at Indy for quals in 1995 when Penske didn't make the field. Be careful what you wish for.
I can see maybe SMI tracks offering teams places to race and leave ISC with tracks and no cars. Maybe ARCA and the Wheelen Modifieds. Perhaps that's why Nascar is purchasing smaller leagues just in case these big teams decide to separate in some way shape or form.
I've been a fan of NASCAR since the 1970s, and my gut feeling is things are close to falling apart. I do not like the rules and regulations put on teams today and it is taking away from my enjoyment of the sport.
I am a hard ass NASCAR fan, but it almost hurts me to watch it now as NASCAR is destroying the sport, something has to change quickly and they know it the stands are empty. I would go to Michigan international Speedway every year spent thousands of dollars camping I would never ever attend a live event again in my life.
Team owners just need to buy some tracks or spin off with SMI for a new racing series. The fans won't stay with NASCAR, they'll follow the stars which are the drivers and teams. Media will follow the fans.
They would never do it, but it'd be interesting to see. Unless someone has money to bankroll it and a TV/stream deal, it unfortunately won't happen tho.
They’re not going to split. It’s in no way feasible and a new breakaway series would only last so long. Some of the people involved were around when the CART/IRL split happened and they’d be foolish to let that happen again.
@@JackLikesTrackhouse I think it is feasible if they did a short track series in SLM instead of these nexgen pos cars. Look at what Lucas Oil and WoO has accomplished since the cup racing has gone so sour. No asphalt SLM series has even got close to Lucus or WoO popularity. It would work if you bring the stars from cup to race 24 to 28 cars on a 3/8 to 1/2 track. There are so many tracks in that size range that are under utilized. Due to more track/promoter options it allows this proposed series to get the best possible deals year in and year out. I know on the dirt side it cost a winning team 1 to 2 million to run a SLM a year. SLM on short tracks are just as fast if not faster then the nexgen car for anyone that wants to make the argument that SLM is slower then Cup. Yes, I'm aware that the purses and sponsorship deals would bring less money. But when you move to a car that cost 1/10th to run on a annual basis it leaves a lot of wiggle room.
Do away with the charter system completely. NASCAR and the tracks need to work together to significantly increase the payout for the races. This way revenue to the teams is earned through performance and it helps to promote competition. Charters are stunting growth because new teams can’t come into the sport unless they have one. How many races do we see now where there’s only 36 cars showing up to the track each week? I miss the days where 52 teams used to show up for 43 spots. Your spot in the field should never be guaranteed just because you have a “charter”.
You make fair points here, but I think it's important to understand that there are other factors in play. The days of fielding 43 cars for races (let alone more than that attempting) are probably a distant memory anyhow because of what it costs to race these days.
No one is going to spend a million bucks on a race weekend to run 41st at Pocono. There was a time when start-and-parks made financial sense in Cup. That time is long gone.
This guy is so full of himself. Welcome to capitalism buddy, those at the bottom beg unless you collectively bargain. Not really a right wing motive. 😂😂 "We just won't show up" Um OK, and you won't be eligible for the playoffs.
But still broken souls and soldiers (former owners - drivers who have it their all and hardly got . 50 cents fer an engine that was worth thousands. I get it to an extent. Wish I had a hand in marketing nascar, it's not rocket science.
I started watching NASCAR around the time charters were implemented and I agree. Times have changed and now I think NASCAR management’s definitely regretting that decision. They made their bed and now they might be forced to sleep in it if things go really south.
It's the drivers and owners that make NASCAR. I understand there are business decisions that need to be made, but it sure would be nice if they refused to show up for a race one week.
Great information Kenny & Denny, Thank for this! The driver of the 11 sounds incredibly convincing but I'd really like to hear the other side of the story just one time.
I never could stand Denny as a driver, but as an owner and with some of his perspective on building and running a team, he puts a good viewpoint out there.
Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan think they are Kings now that they are owners of a NASCAR team. Now they want to change the rules to fit their narrative. If they don't want to sign the contract they need to quit racing in NASCAR!! They are no better than any of the teams that's been in NASCAR for many years.
Thank you Kenny and Denny. That was very informative. Even us as humans need to evolve to make this world go round and round. Denny, I agree with you 100 percent. Oh and Kenny! I love your show and keep up the good work.
Heres how you show them whos more valuable. Pick the next three biggest races and park the fuckin cars. Look at the down turn that dale sr’s death had on the sport and he’s one man. Tony stewart tried to start an alternative and unfortunately it didnt work out. Would sure like to know the behind the scenes crap nascar pulled over that deal. Tony walking away should have sent shock waves through the sport but its old news now…
I truly hope the charter system goes under. It stiffles competition majorly. NASCAR was already insanely expensive to get into as a sport, but the Charter system makes it actively impossible.
@@JackLikesTrackhouse Correct - the owners demanded it and NASCAR gave in. I think NASCAR would prefer to get rid of it and is using the revenue split as leverage - they'll give more $$ to the teams if the charters go away. Of course team owners like having the asset they can sell and borrow against so they are crying that the France family is trying to screw them.
With Danny you get today's owner's perspective. I don't watch them every week when I do, I learn a lot about that side of things by watching Denny's Actions Detrimental shows. H explains things well.
ALL OF THEM EARNED THEIR $$$$$ WITHOUT GOVERNMENT HANDOUTS & OTHER BULLSHIT!!! NO INHERITANCES INVOLVE IN ANY OF THEM!!! Only billionaire owners that I can find are MJ, Penske & Hendrick. The REST are SELF-MADE millionaires. Of course, the France family are billionaires, BUT THEY OWN THE BUSINESS & MAKE THE RULES, WHETHER CRYBABY HAMLIN & MJ LIKE IT OR NOT!
It’s gonna be interesting of how this comes out,,,if the sport goes down the tube at least I have probably a 100 yrs of racing history to always read and old films to watch lol
Kenney, I love everything you have done and continue to do...I am glad Denny and the rest are discussing.Nascar fan my whole life, it was my papa and I thing...I think it would be an amazing statement if every driver agreed once the flag drops at Daytona (the beach the Frances destroyed) and they hit that restart zone. They just all stop in the grid and get out of the cars. He'll just sit there through 2 Comercial tv breaks. You all would have fans support.❤
Double/increase the purse monies. Do away with the charters. Put it all on performance. Throw out the current rules book. Simplify the rules. Allow for gray areas that teams were able to dance around and make their cars more competitive. Make the cars look like actual stock cars.
Drop the charter, drop the playoffs, let teams pick and choose races but put up big $$ for a season long points battle. Probably could attract a season championship cup sponsor again. This helps to make each race a standalone big deal in and of itself again and allows teams to do the cost benefit analysis of races. If promotors aren’t getting butts in seats then let them do what needs to be done to promote their race again.
Tried it in the '60's - 70's. It's a mess for track owners that won't work long term. Besides, AGAIN the Frances would just bleed everyone dry. Buying the Frances out is one solution that would work assuming the purchaser will be more generous with the payouts and less financially burdensome the rest of the time. (They would NEVER outright sell Daytona / Talladega though) The alternative is for the teams to band together and take their show exclusively too non-NASCAR tracks as they tried in the '60's. Meanwhile, I see Penske peeking around the corner.
I compare the charter system to the medallion system in for New York cabs. They went from 50K to almost a mil, Now they are worth nothing. No matter how it goes for one side or the other it is unsustainable.
You do realize High Limits is doing charters next year right? It's going to be the same deal as it is with Nascar. If you have a charter it's going to be same deal as WoO on you're only allowed to run limited amount of races and can't compete against high limits etc... or you lose your charter.
@Corky3D but from what I read it's a more fair deal. Revenues increase, so does the pay. It's what Nascar has been getting wrong since charters started. That's the difference
If they were to do it I think they’d probably do it at next year’s Clash. Teams would probably want to at least finish the year out especially if they make the playoffs. I could see some smaller teams that want the charter system around pulling out but I think if they were all to boycott it’d be the Clash.
I wish the France family would move to France. If you take care of those who take care or make sure that the organization is running good everyone wins. It seems the the frances are more interested in short term profits than long term viability.
You get what we give you. Sounds like every every local track across the country. If you don't like then don't come back or try somewhere else. The problem with the local track is if the racer doesn't show up the track will eventually shut down
We love our drivers and owners, not so much with NASCAR. I used to go to NASCAR races at the infield in Charlotte. We went from showing up early to get a spot to having to buy spots that got smaller and more expense. They then took the sight lines away. Never again! I spend my money at my local dirt tracks. Just saw the Outlaws last night and it was a good a show as any NASCAR race. As Darrell Waltrip said about Rusty Wallace when he wrecked him at the first All star race to win, I hope the Frances choke on their money!
the fans are sick of nascar we come to the races to support the teams yeah that helps nascar but we dont like it but we want to show the love to the teams at loudon when i went this year i saw a bunch of banners people were flying saying nascar sucks we are here for the teams.
I still watch but I'm finding it hard to root for new drivers. My driver is struggling and getting towards the end of his career. There are few incentives for me to watch trucks or Xfinity since cup drivers rarely compete there anymore, and furthermore it has been a long time since we've seen someone work their way up the ranks and be able to translate from Xfinity and immediately be competitive in cup. Part of that is the lack of cup regulars and some of that is the vast difference in the cars they run now. Joey Logano is the last driver I can think of who had Xfinity (Nationwide) success and immediately had cup success. Ty Gibbs showed promise but he's still waiting for his first win a year later. Then you throw in the convoluted charter system, "putting the stock back in stock car" but not really, or doing everything to the cars to try and improve the racing EXCEPT increase HP again even though they're using the same engines that made 900 HP.
Yes there are quite a few of us out here that used to be NASCAR fans and now no longer... I watch a little of F1 and mostly European drift events as well as the supercars from Australia. No more NASCAR shitshow for me fellas. 😁👍👍
Ya know, I’ve always been a Denny hater, but after this interview, I have to say he is Spot On about this! He’s right about everything he said! Key phrase; “ Man, this thing is a sleeping giant, if you’re just willing to move a little bit!” Go f-kin get em Denny! And you just gained a new fan in Los Angeles!!
They really do. Teams are locked into proprietary spec cars now with proprietary spec parts. Spinning up a new series could take well over a year or two. Also NASCAR I think realizes now that can let the charter system dissolve. If it goes away then it goes back to the old days of teams not being franchises but independent contractors. They can then say hey come race or get nothing. Oh and we are back to open entry, fastest 40 take to the track on raceday. Will this hurt the sport yes. Will there be a split, possibly. Should the fans be upset... Probably not. Bunch of big spenders on both sides who haven't advocated for fans in well over a decade as the on track and of track experience has eroded or been modified beyond recognition.
I wondered how the new TV Partners’ payments to NASCAR change if there little or no show to put on in a given race weekend? I’m sure their investment in the Sport was predicated on an ever-increasing viewing audience. On a side note, are NASCAR’s NFT digital products still around? Wasn’t that supposed to be the next big moneymaker for everyone?
Correct. TV dollars are based upon ad dollars > based upon sponsor "impressions" = Viewing sponsor logos, etc ) / on-air "mentions" > for the day / time of broadcast. One can locate the data from any decent Madison Ave ad firm.
My sundays are better spend watching IndyCar and F1 and in most cases I can watch both races in the amount of time it takes to watch a single Cup race!
Run your business like a normal everyday business in America. Private jets, multimillion dollar shops to bolt a prefab car together etc... would be a good place to start to bring the 18 million down which is a fictional number since spending beyond what you bring in is just poor business practices. Look in the mirror & start there!!!
And what about the smaller to midsize teams. Not all the teams have MJ money and appeal. Dont run a business, stay a disgruntled employee. We can tell u are just that.
@bobaboey Haven't been a employee for 40 years, I'm on the other side of the fence but to be on that side one has to know you don't spend beyond your means or you don't last.
This is unfortunate and will likely be the reason I stop watching and going to races. Money, power, and greed at the root of this. I applaud Denny for his leadership and courage in championing the conversation on the driver side. He could easily be fined or marginalized by NASCAR for speaking out.
This is heading towards a replay of teams walking away from participating in events for a few weeks. Nobody wants that but to not negotiate in good faith is going to bring things to a breaking point. Daytona 2025 with 6 cars entered.
I really hope these teams don’t fold on this negotiation. I hope they at least hold out and race without the choke hold to show NASCAR the teams could make more money but coming as they please.
*it's 2030, the charter deal is gone. The Cup field struggles to field more than 25 cars, most drivers in the series have no prestige because they've all bought theor rides instead of earned them, and only Hendrick Motorsports is winning any races because most other teams are barely functional* NASCAR fans: "At least the Charter system is gone"
We need new leaders and owners like Denny and Brad K in the sport. I get the cost, but I wished Dale Jr would get into cup. NASCAR to keep growing needs Dale Jr, Hamlin, Brad K to be the voices for drivers and fans. Mr H, Penske, Jack Roush, Joe Gibbs, and Richard are not going to be around forever. All are getting up in age.
Ok, NASCAR has existed since the 1950s. Now in the past 10-12 years the teams are suddenly losing money, got to have guarantees, want a firm percentage of the external revenue stream, want equity in their business model, were given a charter and "the teams" have placed market value on it not NASCAR. What did they do before from 1950-2000. Seems like there were always plenty of teams to show up and qualify for a race. Now its impossible for anyone to show up and race unless you own a charter. Kind of stiffles competition dont it. Maybe they need to get out of the Taj Mahals and go back to working in simple garages like they used to
Teams cannot get sponsers competing with NASCAR for the same sponsets. NASCAR is greedy. Yes, drivers are paid too much. But. NASCAR needs to work with those who make the show happen.
Props to Denny.. I don’t hear or see anybody .. other than Joe Gibbs Driver and co-owner of 23/11 saying anything about this subject.. I hope everything works out..
The charter system was one of the last bad decisions made by a guy who made a lot of bad decisions for nascar. Btw, it was the ARCA series that big bill france brought to Talladega when the nascar drivers boycotted.
@@JackLikesTrackhouse Back then the Cup series was known as the Grand National Series and what we know now as the Xfinity Series was known as the Sportsman Series. To add to the confusion, the Grand National Series was later renamed the Winston Cup Series and the Sportsman Series was later renamed the Bush Grand National Series in the early 80s. The race in question was the 1969 Talladega race boycotted by most of the top cup drivers over tire concerns. Nascar decided that the event would go on with a bunch of guys that nobody ever heard of from multiple lower series. It is universally considered to be a total $hit show.
I havent seen a race in 2 years. I used to go to 2-3 races a year and dedicate my Sunday afternoons. Im not saying what NASCAR is doing is wrong, I can only say they have put together a racing series I am no longer interested in.
Longtime NASCAR fan and I know that the France family is making a killing ok, it’s no secret. NASCAR needs to get this new deal correct and share profits with the teams. Yes everyone could be replaced, teams, drivers etc. Fans pay to see a Quality product with the best of the best on the track each week. Fans won’t pay for anything less. It’s been tried in the past and it failed. I enjoy NASCAR as a sport, but that’s all it is.
The new cars simply provide NASCAR with cars to race in case the teams decide to leave. Then anyone can come in, buy a car, and race. The horsepower limits are intended to make it viable to run a third part spec engine in case the manufacturers leave. NASCAR has positioned themselves over the past ten years to strip the RTA of any real leverage. If a team leaves, it will be relatively easy to replace them with today's car and engine package.
They also aren't real because they were gifted by nascar to help the teams. Pretending nascar OWES them more is silly. If teams wanted to overpay to buy a charter another got for free. That's their choice. They were cheap only 2 yrs ago. Let's rescind the current charters and let the teams buy them from nascar for a share of the pie if they want more
WOW 18 million dollars a season to run 1 car Nascar has over priced their organization 😮 running themselves into the ground it's crazy I stopped watching cause of all the B.S. every week
Not sure if sponsors can buy them but the latest version of the agreement said that NASCAR could purchase a charter for themselves if they wanted to. Even as someone who’s a bit more on NASCAR’s side on this whole thing, I can’t get behind that. It’s all about money for both sides.
Only team owners can buy charters. Sale of charters must be approved by NASCAR. If a team has a charter that they are not using they can lease it out for one year then they must use it or sell it.
I 100% absolutely support 23IX and Front Row. I believe success of this suit will vastly improve this sport by allowing the teams to innovate. NASCAR is vertically integrated which can be illegal under Antitrust law so I believe they can win.
Outdoor motocross is similar... The owners are making bucket loads of money while the factory , semi factory supported teams are not making any money ,break even or lose..Family ownership of the series and most of the tracks is a flat out monopoly and violates anti-trust
Kenny, I'll be honest with you I don't watch much NASCAR anymore. The owners and officials have made this sport pretty much unworthy of attending or watching IMO. The last race I attended was when my son took me to the Daytona race in 2012 for my 50th Birthday (Feb 26) and rain delayed the race until Monday (yep we got soaked) and it was also the first time the new lights were used at Daytona since the race went into the eve due to more rain in the day, Monday (yep we got soaked, again).... Also when Montoya hit the blower... that was something to see live!! My son bought us pit passes too... yet the race ended in a GWC! Driving from Tampa to Daytona for 2 days in a row just made a GWC that much harder to swallow. I did have a good time for the most part until that GWC. Basically the last 10 laps were under yellow. The only reason I watch it sometimes now is because a friend of mines son races. He's the current points leader, oops scratch that he's now second in points due to Larsons win at Bristol. I didn't know DB back in 2012 but even if I did it wouldn't have changed the way I feel about the owners and officiating. I have watched maybe a dozen races since then and after watching this video, thank you, I am even more unlikely to watch or support this sport. Fans are the reason this sport exists! Hopefully the owners of NASCAR catch on to that REAL FAST or this sport will die! Like Hamlin said, the STARS & CARS are why we support this sport. If the teams get together and decide to make their own league I WILL support it! And finally like Hamlin was told, if you don't like it then don't participate... and I won't! The difference.... NASCAR can replace a team sure, but they can't replace *me!* (only got to watch half this cause I gotta go to work but wanted to post this) Thanks for the great video mister KW!!
As a fan of NASCAR I’m not a Hamiln fan but he does have an absolutely point here. NASCAR wonders why they lose teams and fans well one is the stars droping out (like SHR) and the other is inconsistent calling of rules. It’s basically a pick and choose who gets what. I believe they need to at least cover cost for the teams to put on a damn good show (especially if they want to rig it like they did with Larson at Indy). But they won’t hell they can’t even get caution calls correctly so in my opinion NASCAR (not the teams) will kill them selves. Which blows my mind.
A charter deal where Teams and NASCAR share Car #s, NASCAR & Teams share sponsors in money only not in image. We should go back to the days where every car has a few of the same sponsor logos on every car. Bring back Pepsi and throw Pepsi or Coke on every car. Stuff like that. Share the revenue and share the power. Create a balance system where NASCAR agrees to pay the basic costs for teams as long as they make their sponsorship amount/quota/revenue. This would cause teams to go after even more sponsorship and could bring more money into the sport. This all starts with getting a main sponsor for the cup series again. Look to Walmart, Microsoft, or NVIDIA even.
Not talking Charters, but one Big thing I noticed at Indy, the Seats, were Not sold out! There was Plenty of Empty Seats! I Thought, Indy was Always , sold out. What's happening ?
Easier said than done. What do the teams tell their staff? “Sorry folks, no paychecks for a few weeks” Most teams don’t have the reserve cash to bankroll payroll for several weeks. Especially if they don’t run races they have sponsors lined up for.
I pay $100.00 a year for FRDM Larry McReynolds hosted a few races Kurt Bush won a race Tony Stewart had dominated the Indy 800 until a last lap restart. Drag, roll, drag and drive racing, street car take over, dirt racing, jet boat racing + mini jet, burn-out's skids" Australian style, aircraft-all types, shenanigans and a lot more. I gave up on Nascar a looooooong time ago for two reasons 1st to many rule changes at the time when Toyota came to Nascar that hurt a lot of teams that were meant to hurt Toyota. 2nd was just before Dale Ernheart passed away too much fucking drama and it has only gotten worse imho. F-1 is the best racing and they do it right. They keep the drama out!!! No interviews pre or after race, they keep the racers private life private and what brand toothpaste or shoes they use. Top three get up on the stage receive their trophies then filed into a very short post q and a and wha-la. I have a couple years on you Kenny. Yer still a kid poking with a stick and it's hilarious. If you aint having fun "you go you know the thing"
Well all of these teams made money before the charters or they wouldn't be there. I do not like the charters. I think it should be like it was Show up qualify and make the show.
That statement of asking NASCAR to "cover their costs" makes no sense. What costs? The overspending on engineering that the teams are doing? The travel costs? The teams are already set to get significantly more than they had been receiving after the new TV deal. How about the teams accept a spending cap that is reasonable. NASCAR has already placed rules limiting the number of traveling crew members and cut practices in order to help cut expenses. Part of the problem is that teams need to look into the mirror on how they spend.
Sounds crazy, maybe it is BUT if there isn't an agreement, NASCARwin and the teams and fans lose, start your own series, all the teams, drivers, sponsors move on to something new where the owners are the governing body make the rules, set the budget, NASCAR has become wayy too big and at what cost? At the end of the day, they're rolling in the $$$ no matter what while everyone else suffers. Just my opinion, hate if you want but something needs to change
This sucks as a fan, either nascar takes care of the operating costs and passes that on to the fans. Or nascar says no and you lose drivers or teams for seasons or bare minimum they will pick and choose races as Denny said.
Used to be ,build your car . Pass inspection , pay your entry fee .Go racing .Not anymore ,they give you the IROC style of car . You can't make parts ,can't touch the motor. And no innovation to change this way of thinking . NASCAR you better listen to your competitors .
I think Stewart haus has started a eye opener
Furniture Row should have been an eye opener!

Glorified spec series , I keep up on news like this but do not waste my Sundays anymore...
This guy is so full of himself. Welcome to capitalism buddy, those at the bottom beg unless you collectively bargain. Not really a right wing motive. 😂😂
"We just won't show up" Um OK, and you won't be eligible for the playoffs.
From a fan perspective, Nascar was better before the charters.
Charters have been good for the sport. They should become Permanent. How to keep control and not let it become like F1, I don’t know.
100%
Great information Kenny & Denny, Thank for this! The driver of the 11 sounds incredibly convincing but I'd really like to hear the other side of the story just one time.
he is lacking perspective and a deeper understanding of human nature. the competition to buy speed will still exist on top of any shared money.
Great interview Kenny! I love your RUclips channel!
❤❤❤❤❤ I'll watch nascar again when smokey is put in the hall of fame!
Tony walking away should have sent shock waves through the sport but its old news now…
Tony don't have time for NASCAR he's a drag racer now 🤔
I truly hope the charter system goes under. It stiffles competition majorly. NASCAR was already insanely expensive to get into as a sport, but the Charter system makes it actively impossible.
Agreed. I don’t think NASCAR even likes the charter system but it’s been in place for 8 years so they’ve kinda made their bed.
@@JackLikesTrackhouse Yes, they agreed to it to get the last deal done, & regret it.
Go back to the Top 35 rule
Competition has been non-existent for at minimum 30 years. Then you control the rule book, you control everything.
Never thought i would say this but i really totally agree with denny lately i have agreed with alot of things he has to say.
Nope!
With Danny you get today's owner's perspective. I don't watch them every week when I do, I learn a lot about that side of things by watching Denny's Actions Detrimental shows. H explains things well.
I love your show kenny. You bring a new light to racing with honest conversation. How can i get a diecast signed by you? Keep up the good work legend
Millionaires arguing with billionaires.
Smartest comment I’ve read
That says it all my friend,,as a fan for 6 decades I’m seeing big cracks in the dam!!
@@petewheeler3146 you’re as old as I am. It used to be fun now it’s all business. Fans aren’t recognized or needed. I see T S off having fun.
It’s gonna be interesting of how this comes out,,,if the sport goes down the tube at least I have probably a 100 yrs of racing history to always read and old films to watch lol
The way it sounds to me, charters need to go.
100%
I am not, and never have been a Denny Hamlin fan. But I agree with what he is saying.
I've always thought that in a negotiation if both sides aren't happy with a least something, then the negotiation wasn't fair.
bingo
Not according to my wife.
Skip Daytona in 2025 as a group. Like Hamlin said “Someone is going to have to feel some pain.”
The teams have to put unbearable pressure on Jim France. It won't be easy either no matter which route is chosen.
And this is EXACTLY how High Limit started. Keep effin around and Nascar is gonna find out🤔
You do realize High Limits is doing charters next year right? It's going to be the same deal as it is with Nascar. If you have a charter it's going to be same deal as WoO on you're only allowed to run limited amount of races and can't compete against high limits etc... or you lose your charter.
@Corky3D but from what I read it's a more fair deal. Revenues increase, so does the pay. It's what Nascar has been getting wrong since charters started. That's the difference
If you guys didn't show up at a race by boycotting races they will get the message
What you said!
If they were to do it I think they’d probably do it at next year’s Clash. Teams would probably want to at least finish the year out especially if they make the playoffs. I could see some smaller teams that want the charter system around pulling out but I think if they were all to boycott it’d be the Clash.
I would love to see all the teams just say “we’re parking it” and not show up at all for as long as it takes for NASCAR and the France’s to wake up.
That happened in 1969 at the first dega race.
I am a Nascar fan for 50 years and no days it sucks, don't just take my word, look at the grand stands race day.
I wish the France family would move to France. If you take care of those who take care or make sure that the organization is running good everyone wins. It seems the the frances are more interested in short term profits than long term viability.
Big Bill's daughter moved to Alaska years ago... that's about as far away as she could get from Daytona!
It's all about the 💰
You get what we give you. Sounds like every every local track across the country. If you don't like then don't come back or try somewhere else. The problem with the local track is if the racer doesn't show up the track will eventually shut down
NOBODY could survive that owning a Cup racer.
Thanks Denny for finally explaining this in a way that we can all understand
RIP NASCAR
We love our drivers and owners, not so much with NASCAR. I used to go to NASCAR races at the infield in Charlotte. We went from showing up early to get a spot to having to buy spots that got smaller and more expense. They then took the sight lines away. Never again!
I spend my money at my local dirt tracks. Just saw the Outlaws last night and it was a good a show as any NASCAR race.
As Darrell Waltrip said about Rusty Wallace when he wrecked him at the first All star race to win, I hope the Frances choke on their money!
This is an example on a small scale of what’s happening nation wide. Unions! The people want more power back just like the teams. Come on Denny!
the fans are sick of nascar we come to the races to support the teams yeah that helps nascar but we dont like it but we want to show the love to the teams at loudon when i went this year i saw a bunch of banners people were flying saying nascar sucks we are here for the teams.
Go back to One race.... start, 250 Miles, finish, Winner WINS
I started losing interest in NASCAR when the Chase was introduced
I was a big nascar fan but now I've been watching F1 and Indy car and motogp 😢
NASCAR turned me into a NHRA fan
I like to watch The British Touring Car Championship.
It's pretty nice and the cars actually have somewhat stock bodies, at least on the outside.
I'll go to my local tracks and NEVER watch NASCAR again, TV deal will sink faster than lead.
NASCAR is like old money ppl they don’t want anyone to make money but them selfishness selves.
Great explanation of what is really going on
This is why the cars no longer have associate sponsorship. Those little sponsorship on the front wheel fenders were full at one time.
It sounds like NASCAR has everyone by the balls, and has no intention of letting go. They own it all.
Always been that wsy
They do but they don't. They need the teams with the superstars to come race. Without that no one will watch or come
They really do.
@@NewNomics Waaaay too much money to run a team today. independents are gone away.
Great video! Very interesting points being made!
NFT’s are pretty much obsolete now so pretty sure they’ve all ditched that idea
Correct. TV dollars are based upon ad dollars > based upon sponsor "impressions" = Viewing sponsor logos, etc ) / on-air "mentions" > for the day / time of broadcast. One can locate the data from any decent Madison Ave ad firm.
Glorified spec series , I keep up on news like this but do not waste my Sundays anymore...
My sundays are better spend watching IndyCar and F1 and in most cases I can watch both races in the amount of time it takes to watch a single Cup race!
Same here
Kenny! lol. Love the videos. Cut, cut, cut.
I knew NASCAR was going to die when they started buying up all the tracks. Its a monopoly, and they (nascar) are getting loaded.
The world existed before NASCAR it will go around without just fine without it.
Run your business like a normal everyday business in America. Private jets, multimillion dollar shops to bolt a prefab car together etc... would be a good place to start to bring the 18 million down which is a fictional number since spending beyond what you bring in is just poor business practices. Look in the mirror & start there!!!
Hah
Well said. We just saw his new shop. How much was that to build, 10 million? 20 million? More?
@@J-ge7qelol WAYYYYY more… try 75-100M
Kudos Denny it's time Nascar start helping the teams and give more benefits to the them.
I've been a Denny fan since his rookie year. Smart dude. Now win a championship bro
This is heading towards a replay of teams walking away from participating in events for a few weeks. Nobody wants that but to not negotiate in good faith is going to bring things to a breaking point. Daytona 2025 with 6 cars entered.
the france family want to sell NASCAR and they can not have things like charters holding that back
Local tracks put on a great show. Spend Saturday at your local track instead of Sunday sitting in front of the TV
I really hope these teams don’t fold on this negotiation. I hope they at least hold out and race without the choke hold to show NASCAR the teams could make more money but coming as they please.
*it's 2030, the charter deal is gone. The Cup field struggles to field more than 25 cars, most drivers in the series have no prestige because they've all bought theor rides instead of earned them, and only Hendrick Motorsports is winning any races because most other teams are barely functional*
NASCAR fans: "At least the Charter system is gone"
Yeah just because mommy and daddy bought a seat don't mean you'll ever have a fan base
For all the deserved Denny hate that comes his way, he is a business man and is a lot more than just a driver. Gotta give him that.
The reason that Dale Jr. is not in cup is because of the charter system! It just keeps new teams out!
I think Jr and Kelly are smarter then to RACE in cup
@@briantaylor6562driver salaries are nothing compared to what they were a decade ago. Jimmie Johnson said it himself
Props to Denny.. I don’t hear or see anybody .. other than Joe Gibbs Driver and co-owner of 23/11 saying anything about this subject.. I hope everything works out..
I can see one point about the charters , its like money in the bank
The charter system was one of the last bad decisions made by a guy who made a lot of bad decisions for nascar. Btw, it was the ARCA series that big bill france brought to Talladega when the nascar drivers boycotted.
Pretty sure it was Xfinity (Grand National at the time I think?)
Grand American series
@NikeHM69 but the show went on...
It was the Grand American series, which was NASCAR's answer to Trans-Am.
No teams no races no Nascar. The teams should do an IRL type move when CART split. Get back to basics and make the cars cheaper.
I thought the new cars were supposed to save the team's money but it sounds like it's not
The new cars simply provide NASCAR with cars to race in case the teams decide to leave.
@@joelcheek3494 Except that it was the RTA that wanted the next gen car, to "save them money".
@@GrandpaSharki think it's why they let the owners have it
These charters are not real, nascar can revoke them. Like NFT’s that teams trade amongst themselves.
They also aren't real because they were gifted by nascar to help the teams. Pretending nascar OWES them more is silly. If teams wanted to overpay to buy a charter another got for free. That's their choice. They were cheap only 2 yrs ago. Let's rescind the current charters and let the teams buy them from nascar for a share of the pie if they want more
WOW 18 million dollars a season to run 1 car Nascar has over priced their organization 😮 running themselves into the ground it's crazy I stopped watching cause of all the B.S. every week
Get Your Sugar Daddy to Buy 12 Tracks and Go For it...! Show the France Family How its Done...😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It is possible for a sponsors to buy the Charters? The sponsors could then hire the teams/drivers as contractors for 36 races each season.
Probably. They'll let anyone buy a Charter. Problem is there's only so many and they're 20/30/40 Billion dollars.
As a fan, I think they need to go back to the way they were during Dale SR AND Dale Jr. The only races I watch are the ones Dale Jr runs.
Im pretty sure NASCAR will survive . This just media gold. Good job kenny!😊
❤❤❤❤❤ when dale Sr passed away there went nascar
As a fan of NASCAR I’m not a Hamiln fan but he does have an absolutely point here. NASCAR wonders why they lose teams and fans well one is the stars droping out (like SHR) and the other is inconsistent calling of rules. It’s basically a pick and choose who gets what. I believe they need to at least cover cost for the teams to put on a damn good show (especially if they want to rig it like they did with Larson at Indy). But they won’t hell they can’t even get caution calls correctly so in my opinion NASCAR (not the teams) will kill them selves. Which blows my mind.
Real content!
Herman NASCAR has got Greed on the brain😊
Jordan may be the saving factor for this race form. He has the power. Never envisioned him doing this but he alone can save it.
And he may be the end of it
Not talking Charters, but one Big thing I noticed at Indy, the Seats, were Not sold out! There was Plenty of Empty Seats! I Thought, Indy was Always , sold out. What's happening
?
I hope Kaulig buys one of them for SVG to drive full-time 2025
SVG is a Trackhouse driver.
The sport is about to implode
All teams need to stop racing! In till France family comes up with a better deal! There greedy an making way to much money! NASCAR sucks!!
Can’t do that, will alienate fans. When fans tune out, they will find a replacement.
Easier said than done. What do the teams tell their staff? “Sorry folks, no paychecks for a few weeks”
Most teams don’t have the reserve cash to bankroll payroll for several weeks. Especially if they don’t run races they have sponsors lined up for.
Can’t do that. Does more harm than good. Too much money to be lost on the team’s side. With no money coming in, teams can’t pay employees.
Pay the teams and drivers.
Let it go Kenny. Lawyers control this.
This is the end of nascar guys, hope yall enjoyed it. Good thing F1 is way better then nascars trash
Kenny I dropped nascar because of the Kyle Busch deal , if nascar keeps running off the top drivers what do you have left , bumper-car racing ?
NASCAR is just not that important to people in this day and age. We can live without it !!
Used to be ,build your car . Pass inspection , pay your entry fee .Go racing .Not anymore ,they give you the IROC style of car . You can't make parts ,can't touch the motor. And no innovation to change this way of thinking . NASCAR you better listen to your competitors .
