    For the Rays, the biggest deadline deal has to be Devil Rays sending Victor Zambrano and Bartolome Fortunato to the Mets for Scott Kazmir. This trade was the one trade that set the franchise into the mode they currently are still in when making deals.
    However, best move overall by the Rays was the Delmon Young trade that is still having impacts towards todays team

    A note on the Verlander to the Astros trade:
    This was one of the most one sided trades in baseball history. The Tigers got 3 players back for Verlander: Daz Cameron (no longer with the Tigers, -0.6 WAR), Franklin Perez (never made it to the majors), and Jake Rogers (Still with the Tigers, 1.0 WAR, career average of 194). The Tigers got absolutely swindled and are still paying for that horrid trade

    • @misterknightowlandco

      The tigers got NOTHING from any of the trades they made to break up that squad. Not a single damn player worth a damn. The tigers trades during their big run were all garbage. The young guys they traded away to try and help their veterans squad get over the hump all panned out for other teams and the vets we got didn’t even help. When we traded everyone away we got nothing from any of it.

    I think Willie Hernandez on this list is a little bit of a stretch. That trade happened in spring training, and he spent the entire season with Detroit. That’s not exactly a deadline deal. The better answer is Doyle Alexander who went 9-0 down the stretch to lead Detroit to the best record in baseball. While they did give up John Smoltz in the deal, and the Tigers lost to the Twins, Detroit doesn’t make the playoffs without him.

    • @rhyde
      @rhyde  Год назад

      To me personally, the offseason is over when spring training begins so I counted it, and the Alexander Smoltz trade happened after the non-waiver deadline.

    • @michaelholman517minKC
      @michaelholman517minKC Год назад

      @@rhyde I can respect your stance, although I disagree with it. Detroit didn’t play a game in 1984 without Hernandez at their disposal. David Price in 2014 was a pretty good one too. I didn’t realize the Alexander/Smoltz trade was in August.
      And good call on Zobrist to the Royals in 2015. Royals don’t win the World Series without him.

    People often forget that Piazza was an in-season trade acquisition for the Mets. Although he's one of the best players in Mets history, I think Cespedes in 2015 is the greatest deadline trade the Mets have ever made because his historic 2nd half that year was the reason they made the playoffs, let alone the World Series.
