This is the best example of economic warfare that I have heard in a long time. I wish it could be made into a serial with many chapters and side threads that weave and interlink.

Well, now, there's a bit of the Old Greats in a fair few of them - Asimov, Heinlein, Niven, Clarke, et cetera - there's a difference between the classic hard sci-fi and the b-movie schlock scripts...
Very heavily inspired by the game Stellaris. But with a lot of story filled in where the mechanics do not cover I counted at least: - UNE, with the Xeltek having "Common Grounds" Origin or a similar relationship. - The Gates - Ideology and liberation warfare - Federation/Galactic Community mechanics - branch offices (I would guess the Xeltek are a Megacorp with spy Bonuses) - fleets needed to patrol hyper lanes - Federation Fleet - Galactic Market

Everyone fear our weapons and how we use them without much concern or care either for fun or mayhem. Everyone fear our absurdity when building huge pointless things just because we can. But what everyone fears the most, what send shivers to their carapaces and tentacles, is when send our economists and lawyers to solve a problem.

The announcer cheers the crowd: -Congratulations to the Top5 graduates of the economists, ideologs and socialists from our great union. These men are the future of our warfare as they can take a nation out or subjugate it without the shoots being fired."
Aliens that look like human mythical creatures - a story of past contact - would be great for more stories. Politics and war - even in a fictional future. Ah well, life goes on. LOL, as they said - everything is up for a price.
If aliens exist and we ever join a "federation" of sapients, I guarantee we will be better at two things than any other sapient species: throwing trash and lawyering.

Well, except for the fact that China did not in fact start any sort of organization advocating liberty equality and tolerance. And they're definitely not anti-corruption. And in real life, the position is not one-sided towards China in terms of economic leverage. Also the Ukraine war wasn't started by a false-flag attack. The Russians just declared they were in "a special military operation." So I think the situation may perhaps be inspired from the real world, but it's certainly not a direct analog
