@@diegoalexiscastanedalara1852 No, once you are a member of the Academy, you're in for life (unless you did something horrible). There are different membership categories -actor/actress, director, editor, scriptwriter, etc. - they vote in their own categories. Basically, all awards are biased, your pick of who deserves to be the winner is probably going to be different from somebody's. I never take them seriously.

Nothing against Cate but appearing too enthusiastic to lose can make people think you'rea fake too. So, to each their own, perfectly understandable for some to appear reserved e.g. Ellen page in the same clip.
By the way, it's much easier to be wholeheartedly happy like Cate since she was not racing to win. If Julie Christie did the same thing, I'd doubt people would say she's classy.

As Scarlett, she doesn't even make my Top 50. All she did was whine. It's an insult to the truly great performances by Sophia Loren, Shirley Booth, Ingrid Bergman, Olivia de Havilland, Anne Bancroft, Judy Holliday, Luise Rainer, Maggie Smith, Susan Sarandon, Geraldine Page, etc., etc., etc.

We only knew her for her role in one movie : "Taxi" (New York Taxi with Queen Latifah is actually the American adaptation of that movie). And even in that movie she had a very tiny role she was the girlfriend of the main character.
After that movie (that frist came out in 1998) she completely disappeared. We knew nothing about her until she popped out of nowhere with this role in "La Vie En Rose" & won an Oscar for it. This is a true & sincere success story, tbh we ourselves didn't expect her to go this far.

Marion is so beautiful, and she is such a wonderful actress (she was brilliant in this film and she is dazzling in her other films -- she was the best part of Public Enemy, in which she co-starred with Johhny Depp -- just one example). I loved her speech -- not rehearsed, genuine, and so very, very French!! "Thank you life, thank you love!"
