- September 15 2013 ~ A friend adopted this super cute Black & Tan Coonhound pup from "American Black and Tan Coonhound Rescue" in the States. This is his first encounter with the big bad scary stairs...
Black & Tan ...my favorite dog breed. We had 2 of them.
Pete is absolutely beautiful. I have to admit I'd never really thought about how awkward it is for a dog to go downstairs.. .once the front legs are down, there isn't room for the hind legs. Glad he worked it out. 👍😄
He reminds me of my darling boy Dobie. He was not a coonhound--just a mixed breed black and tan with satiny fur. He was the love of my life. Looked like a little doberman pinscher. They are the best. Good boy!!
On the road to being the most fearless little guy on the planet!
He’s so darn cute!
This is the most beautiful puppy I’ve ever seen, I have watch this video so many times 😂
OMG, he looks just like Odie. What a beautiful boy and love that awesome voice ❤❤❤
What a beautiful pup! Reminds me of my Laki, he was a black tan cocker spaniel 💖💫
Oh...what a precious boy! I just loved this video! He's such a good looking dog. He learned pretty quickly, too. Can't say that I blame him for hesitating with those big feet and gangly legs...so cute.
I adopted an American Redtick Coonhound from a local rescue and he loved stairs when he was 3 to 4 months old! He makes the same whining sound when he gets excited or frustrated. You gotta love that howl! Coonhounds are such great dogs.
@garysalerno2 But what about punctuation?
I had a beautiful female Red Tick..she was as smart and protective as she could be..I knew no wild animals were going to get me..Patty was her name
What a HANDSOME pup!
A very healthy looking pup. Beautiful coat!
Oh da big baby hound pupper! Loves to him! Yeah, I am using my silly dog talking speech.
Hes beautiful! Stairs are so scary for pups.
Coonhounds ROCK! I hope Pete is doing well!
He is so dang cute, our old girl is 9. Love Black and Tan's they make such wonderful family members! I would own another in a heartbeat!
Beautiful dog! He looks like a much bigger version of our Dachshund Hannah.
What a beutiful doggy❤
He's gorgeous
Thanks, I appreciate your concern, and you are partially correct. Very young puppies should not be allowed to jump from heights ie off couches, beds etc, but saying for the first year of their life is a bit extreme. Stairs are fine for puppies this age (4 months) to climb, it helps build muscle. They should be supervised when they're very young so they don't end up tumbling head over heels.
Aaawh men ! he is so sweet and gorgeous .
Cuteness Overload!!!!
He can do it. He's just making you give him treats.
Our Walker Treeing Coonhound wouldn’t go up the stairs for one month. She is a rescue and has issues with her hind legs. But, the 4th of July solved that problem! Went up stairs like a rocket when the fireworks hit! She’s great now and Coonhounds do rock!
man that's a good looking dog.
+Victoria Modica Pete should be able to fly down the stairs with those ears!!
Friend has a female black and tan coondog and she's very smart. They will scout the yard for rabbits 🐇 squirrels etc very energetic dogs.

Love those floppy ears
Excellent dog. Mine RIP 3-12-14 my best dog ever. Thanks for sharing Yours.
he reminded me of my old hound that sadley passed last month we're going to go and get out new black and tan mixed with bluetick soon I hope
Hounds are wonderful dogs. Whole family fell in love with our Va. Foxhound. Expect myself he keep trying steal my girlfriend 😂. That's mommies little baby.
My coonhound loves the stairs
This us favorite video ever on RUclips 😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
How cute is Pete!
My St Bernard puppy does this, but worse. He will bark and bark and bark. I try to drag him to the stairs, and hold him there to show him he is ok and that I got him. But I pull his collar off before he gets to the stairs. Lol
I have one ordered for this Spring from an Oregon Black and Tan kennel. I almost died from a case of acuteness. I just can’t wait.
Oh gosh! We just did this yesterday. My husband had to carry them both down the stairs, but he figured out how to go up to clean off all the incentive kibble, which he ate while his sister was busy peeing on a carpet she hadn't met yet. 🙄
I adopted a Shepard/Black and Tan Coonhound mix (Samson) and he was hilarious trying to manage the steps for the first time. He made it up following the cat but was afraid to come back down. He is 7 months old now and weighs in at 60 lbs, no fat just muscle.
Black and Tans and Beagles, they don't bite and are so loveable. Great with kids.
Look at his ears
Adorable! Sweeeeeet!
what a beauty, tr him right .
I want him so bad. I kind of wish he would never grow up; he's so darn cute.
Yayy he made it!
Hmm, i wonder who chewed the top of the stairs 🤔
Love this dog. How is Pete doing nowadays?
good boy pete
Looks like Pete ate some of the steps, LOL.
He's going to be a big dog
Hystairical!
hes cute man
aww
Do you still have this dog ?
My dog is afraid of everything why
Need to put a leash on him and make him come down the stairs not forcing him but letting him know who is boss and using a dog treat for each step isn't training him. It's letting him know that it's ok not to do what he's been told to do. Making him think he's in charge. the dog that is. You have to nip it in the butt or the dog is gonna run all over you and you lost all control of the training and then you have an out of control dog and will do what he wants to do and won't listen
