I was active in Boy Scouts for over 20 years and then Trail Life for about 6 years. It is a great organization...when scouting went in a direction I could not follow, we got our youngest son involved in Trail Life and it was a blessing. This video concerns me a bit, however, as neither Boy Scouts or Trail Life was ever intended to be an adult organization. I saw this in both groups...adults joining in part or totally because they saw it as a adult fellowship first. Fellowship is certainly a part of it for
boys and adults...but both groups need to be clear that these programs are not for adult groups. I am sure that this was
not what those in the video were suggesting...just wanted to mention this.
I think it goes with the mindset "we join for our boys but end up blessed by the fellowship." as Dads we do benefit from this. Dad's who work together to achieve the same goal of training our sons do tend to bond with other dad's.
@@mortsey I do understand that...and in most cases this is exactly what happens and it is good. I remember it being the case for me. We just have to be careful that nobody ever loses sight that these are youth organizations. I remember in my time in Boy Scouts seeing several troops formed by adults with only enough kids associated with it to get it registered. I also remember seeing activities, particularly training, get very clickish. I appreciate your observation.
@@helmsman65 that is troubling. I guess if the day comes where leaders loose site of the purpose of training youth then it's time to disband the troop.

Not sure what this comment even means? What rights are these people giving up by joining a scouting organization?

@jane29228, If you truly understood your own depravity and the freedom offered in Christ, you would know that you have no rights. But by understanding what Christ offers, you would understand that you have complete freedom and everything you need for this life and the life to come.
