We are Oskar & Dan, two boys from Sweden who decided to drop out of university and live life full-time. We have been traveling the world for the past five years together (including our time before and in college). We're planning to visit every country in the world before we're 30! By the time of posting this video, we're both 24 :)
Switzerland was country #69/197🌍
This is our first video from Switzerland. We began the trip in Zürich and then continued on to Liechtenstein, St. Moritz, Zermatt, Interlaken, Bern, Thun, Lucerne and more! We're so excited to share this epic trip with you all and leave some helpful tips and tricks and things we'd do differently next time!
Thank you for watching!🙏😍
Thanks for watching!!❤️ This is our first video from Switzerland; we spent a total 11 days in the country. Click our channel and hit subscribe to watch the rest of the vlogs from the trip😊🇨🇭
Hey you two. I'm from Switzerland and just discovered your channel. in case you're still in the country and got some more train rides planned (else for your next trip here) :
1) if you get yourself an annual 'half fare pass' for 180 bucks each (www.sbb.ch/en/abos-billette/abonnemente/halbtax.html) , you get all federal and many private train tickets for half the price. for stuff like the jungfrau joch this can be very helpful.
2) scenic train rides like the glacier express use the same tracks as regular trains but often cost more. only difference being bigger windows. you can do most of them with a 70.- daily national train pass.
enjoy your visit!
I know you have already left, but an important thing to note is that Zürich is by far the most expensive city in switzerland, with the exception of maybe some places in Geneva
I love it when people from foreign countries come to switzerland and enjoy their stay here. Glad you liked it! :)
This was just the beginning! We loved it even more as we went on😍
Im so surprised at how surprised they are at seeing those little “Mountains” or just in general trees and lakes it just shows how blessed i am living in Switzerland.
Yes, it's great to have direct democracy. In referendums, the Swiss people opposed mosque minaret building, the Swiss people voted FOR the prohibition of Burka, Hijab and Thador in public, and they also opposed strengthening ties with the great thief, criminal and thug: THE EUROPEAN UNION.
Long live Switzerland!
@@floriankurz4169 These are not the referendums I would choose to show how great our direct democracy is tbh. More like the referendum for womens right to vote, the right for homosexual people to register their partnership (if you ask me they should be allowed the same rights as anyone else) or other referendi that increased equal rights throughout all people living here :)
@@Demetrios_Gladiator Nah. The referendums he was talking about are the best ones. Great to see how the Swiss people refuse to be ruled by Brussels.
Im so surprised at how surprised they are at seeing those little “Mountains” or just in general trees and lakes it just shows how blessed i am living in Switzerland. Keep having fun!!!
Switzerland is mind-blowingly beautiful!🙌
I feel the same way... when I travel to work by train I have an amazing view into the alps and sometimes I forget that I live in a place other travel to for vacation.
I was surprised by that as well. I mean Zurich is not Switzerland only. I'm glad they visited this country, which is far more complex than they think. They should visit the french part. Yes, we have the best chocolate, the Belges will dispute it, fair game. As for mountains they should have headed south. I'm sorry it's expensive here. We know that. But it's so beautiful 😍 !
"Look at those beautiful mountains !"
Swiss : "what mountains ? Those are hills"
@@Nokyyyyy exactly
I always love how people visit "Switzerland" and then just walk around the most expensive places in Zurich 😆 anyhow, nice video 😉
This is just our first video :)
hehe true, Zurich is like 1/3rd more expensive than most other places in Switzerland ^^
I hope, you enjoyed Lucerne, my hometown ;)
(not cheap either, I know XD)
Zurich is the most expensive city in the world so yeah
@@anastasio_giorghio depends on what your measurement is. One can make a good point for hongkong or tokyo as being more expensive overall for example. Hong Kong has mind blowing rents for flats, even in comparison to Zürich.
@@TheBerg366 It depends on each year but Switzerland is the most expensive country in the world to travel and Geneva and Zürich are very expensive to live in in terms of insurances, transports, hotels, restaurants, services, food, bills, costs of rent, lands in general swiss cities are the most expensive I've heard that Hong Kong's cages apartments are very expensive and small but food and others things are cheaper
The way Oskar spelled "Qualitätsgarantie" shows me that he is talented in speaking German !?
Haha gutes Gehör! Ich hab deutsch in der Schule gelernt :)
@@OskarandDan Das finde ich klasse. Freue mich auf eure weitere Reisen. I am quiet excited!
I love how most ppl that watched this video are from/living in Switzerland 😊 (myself included)
It's great to be reminded of the beauty of your home!😊
i live in switzerland and to see these guys be so fascinated by the wealth, the clean environment and all really reminds me of how lucky i can be.
I love watching these kinds of videos where people from around the world visit Switzerland. It always makes me realize once again how beautiful my homecountry is and how lucky i am to live here.
It's not even 30 seconds in the video and I already want to travel to my own country
Well done, guys
🥰🇨🇭

I have some Travelhacks for you. If you do long train rides in Switzerland, go to any Local government there you can get a 1 Day ticket for everything. It costs 45-50 Dollar. If you stay longer in Switzerland you should get a half price Card. Its 165 Dollar for a Year. But you profit so much if you travel only 2 Weeks.
Stay away from Zürich and other Tourist places. Its absurdly expensive, even for Locals. Buy Food in Supermarkets rather then go Eating in a Restaurant. You can drink from almost any Fountan or every Tap, the Water is amazing. Cheap Hotels are always outside of large Citys.
There‘d also a Tourist version of the GA (Generalabonnement / basically all of public transport is covered by it) which is what I recommend if you plan on visiting different areas. The French-speaking part for example is a 2-3 hour trainride from Zurich and with Geneva, Lausanne and Montreux being so close, 2,3 days to explore the shores of the vineyard-covered shores of Lake Léman and its culture and sites will give you an idea of the diversity our country offers. Careful though; the GA does not cover cable cars / gondolas and the uber touristy spots in the mountains are very pricy to get to, especially Jungfrau.

Zurich is expensive, people get paid more there. Other towns in Switzerland are cheaper than Zurich or Geneva.
Geneva even more expensive...greetings from Zürich.
@@rolfyhh.8059 No... Even if Geneva is also very expensive, it's not as much as Zurich.
Any ways, other cites than Geneva and Zurich are much cheaper for sure ! (Even if still more expensive than the rest of Europe)
Wait, so you are saying there is other towns in Switzerland than Zurich? :o

lmaoo bern is expensive too. Greetings from lucerne (i lived my half life in bern)
Top notch as ever guys- keep the videos coming and can’t wait to hear that you have achieved your goal.
Regarding the direct democracy you must also remember, that the executive (the government) is by constitution a great coalition where all mayor political forces participate. This means that 80-90% of the parties in the legislature are also present in the executive. With other words there is no opposition to speak of, this role has been given to the people by the instruments of the legislative referendums and the constitutional initiatives. The legislative referendum means that if a law is passed in the parliament you can put it to a referendum if you can collect 50'000 signatures of voters within 100 days. You can also make a change of the constitution if your proposal receives 100'000 signatures, which have to be collected in 18 month.
But about 80% of the referendums fail, and people get bored by to many votings. Participation is sometimes not high enough to be valid.
Direct democracy is rally something for finding out preferences only. It's never about finding the best solution, rather it finds the simplest solution.
Cause people do not vote, vor what they don't understand, if they don't understand a solution - they just do not consider it a solution.
@@holger_p And for anyone who disagrees with you, just look at the Brexit Referendum in the UK and all the trouble it has caused. Less than 40% of eligible voters voted for it, totally crazy! Legally it was also only "advisory" but very few politicians dared do anything but implement it and then we ended up with a deal that almost nobody originally said they wanted. Obviously I write as an unhappy "Remoaner" as the Leavers call us!!
@@holger_p Many referendums fail because the parliament is forced to create good laws that most people will accept; the "threat" of a referendum disciplines the politicians. The Swiss are not bored by the votings; some issues just aren't of vested interest. There is no minimal quota or number of voters.
Direct democracy is the best way to get accepted laws and rules. It may not be the right thing for people who have depended on (and still crave for) emperors, kings, dukes and führers.
@@floriankurz4169 I mean, it's easy to copy and paste.

That was fun to watch, especially because we were in a lot of the same spots today after United canceled our flight home this morning. Bonus time in Zurich plus European flight delay compensation - yes please! Even though it’s super expensive Switzerland is one of my favorite places, can’t wait to come back and explore more soon.
Aah yes and that delay compensation will pay for part of the trip!
i lived 13 years on top of the vegan ice cream place and enjoyed every day of it, zurich is one of the best citys to live in for sure.

As someone who is Swiss (adopted) it’s always interesting to see a visitor‘s Impression. I’m a big Sweden fan and traveled to stockholm regularly before COVID. So it’s been fun to see two guys from Sweden exploring our country… cheers from Basel!

@@OskarandDan are you going to Basel? Lived there for many years 🌹🌹
I'm wondering why the Hiltl Restaurant isn't talked about more often on travel videos in Zürich, sure, many people aren't vegetarians, including me, but even i like to occasinally eat plant based stuff, especially since Migros ( one of the big national supermarkets) has some really good quorn stuff, I find the best vegetarian products to be the ones that don't try to imitate meat products excluding the Quorn Fish sticks from Migros, those taste like the real deal.
But that aside, Hiltl is famous over here, not only because the food is good, but also since it's the worlds oldest vegetarian restaurant. Just the later fact makes me wonder why it does not get more spotlight on social media.
You’re right, it’s strange! Very happy we went though :)
We used to a lot to Hiltl but over the years the prices have become astronomical and the food is always the same and not so good or innovative anymore.
@@OskarandDan but its soo expensive. There are a lot more and even better places than Hiltl that are cheaper.

Thanks for the lovely video of Zurich. Six years ago I spent three weeks in this adorable city that took my breath away. I was very impressed with their trains too, well they are famous for that.
Prices for anything can give you a bit of a shock, especially pharmaceutical. I had stupidly run out of a medicine but had a prescription with me just in case. I went to a pharmacy showed them what I needed and they charged 80 Swiss Francs when in Australia I get it for under A$ 20.
Nearly had a heart attack on the spot. Beautiful but very expensive country for the average person.

Discovered your videos by accident and love them. First, you two are so gorgeous and sweet. Why is it that Swedish people that speak English have almost no accent? It's amazing. I have subscribed and will be following you from now on. Thanks so much!

@@OskarandDan It is quite amazing because they have such an obvious accent in Swedish. I go to Denmark a lot and the difference is so clear even though I speak neither language apart from a handful of words. Nice one guys 👍👍
Thank you guys for that wonderful video. I loved it!
I live literally 50m from where you stayed and hope the "Kebab" you tried was a Shawarma from the Lebanese take away right next to your hotel. It's so good, and amazingly it costs even less than the bubble tea :)

Hi guys, loving your videos which I’ve just discovered! I’m so glad when you were in Zurich that you discovered the oldest vegetarian restaurant!! Isn’t it awesome, despite how expensive it is!! I’ve been to Zurich 3 times so far and absolutely love it. You’ll have to go back in autumn or early winter as it’s stunning then too. I actually have my own favourite room in a cute cosy hotel and the view from the window is the quintessential gorgeous village view. Did you get to go on a boat cruise? That’s something fun to do too. I took one that then included a hike up in the mountains with incredible views and was amazing! Happy travels guys. I live in Australia so I’m hoping to be able to get back to my passion of travel next year- missing it terribly!
Stay safe!!

For amazing views of the city you should go up the Uetliberg which is the large hill in Zürich. You can take a train up there or take the tram 13 to the last stop Albisgütli and walk up it, but be warned it’s not easy, will test your fitness.
