I could cry when a loved one died, or tear up at something sweet, but I couldn't cry for my own pain because it was never safe with my parents, brother, friends, or even romantic relationships. I had no clue how numb I was until therapy. I just thought I was really logical, but I was actually just numbing out my rage and sadness.

      I cry at wholesome things and family/friends deaths and other things that generally make people cry, but yeah my own emotions I have only cried a few times as an adult, I had a mental breakdown at work and cried then, had another time where I broke down heading into the doctors (these 2 occasions were close together) I then found out I have high anxiety and stress and a bit of depression, after speaking to a psychologist, it helped so much and now my levels are way down and at a manageable level. I suspect I'm Autistic too, which would explain why I was so confused, I didn't understand what I was feeling and why I was feeling it, but after speaking to the psychologist and making the connection that I may be Autistic, it explained so much.

You can see their mindset of not wanting to engage because of that fear of not being accepted or not being taken seriously, so they laugh it off. Allowing yourself to take it seriously is really powerful and honestly freeing, I hope everyone can find someone at sometime and just be vulnerable. So I honestly think that this should be a series but with just straight men. I think society needs to see straight men open up to each other more. I would be curious to see how many more episodes you could make until all 6 straight men cry in it. I think we need so much more content and examples of healthy straight men having deeper connections, hugging each other, and being there for each other emotionally. A lot of the times men only rely on the women in their life for emotional support but there is some much more opportunity out there to cultivate deeper relationships. I think this could be a great way to have more examples of masculine vulnerability out there in the world for anyone who needs it and could have a great impact. I would love to see another episode with a different group of straight men. Okay that was my pitch thank you! Peace & Love

    love this episode. I just wish they would’ve had at least an hour. I felt like from the beginning I could tell they weren’t going to be able to do it, but towards the end it seemed like they were maybe warming up and getting close. there are societal pressures on men to be tough and devoid of emotion, and the producers are definitely aware of that. I feel like with that in mind it should’ve been a clear choice to do a longer time limit.

    This is great. It shows just how radicated the "strong men dont show emotions" idea truly is. I wish we were more open about our feelings and wouldnt be ashamed to show our emotion because it is SO healthy to do so, they are there for a reason, they connect us, make us process things and so much more. I'm glad these young men realized how difficult it was and why it was. To all men and women from a very emotional woman, dont be afraid to cry, feel sad, ashamed or weak !!! it's a big part of life, dont let old ideas dictate how you should live and show yourself ! Love yourself and your emotions, theyre valid !!!

    • @JohnDoe-mm1tq
      @JohnDoe-mm1tq 8 месяцев назад

      As a Woman, you will never be able to understand how men process things. That's okay. But this really needs to be said... Stop trying to tell men how they "should" feel or act. One of the many ways women dont understand men (clearly) is that we dont get fulfillment from the same things as women. Typically men don't care aboit "connecting" or being validated through others opinions. We want to create and provide and protect. You can sit there and say you want an over emotional man but i guarantee you dont. The biggest population of over emotional men is where?..
      Prison. Its full of men who couldn't control their emotions. There's way too many reasons to list here for you to even begin to understand why men being over emotional is not only not healthy, but not good for either gender, but another big factor is women themselves. Its been proven millions of times over throughout history. Imagine your man or husband comes home bawling his eyes out because he got fired and doesnt know what hes gonna do or how hes gonna pay rent or feed the kids. You know very well you would lose respect for him, versus him just "manning up" and taking care of the problem like hes supposed to. Most women dont even know what THEY want, so to sit here and think you know what we want is actualy ludicrous.

      This is a weird and unnatural scenario first of all, standing around in a room with cameras being told by a PA to cry.
      Second, it's also weird how they all repeat this modern idea that men not crying all the time is a bad thing, like it's a mantra for a cult that they've been told to believe in.
      Society today is trying somewhat successfully to pathologize natural male hormones and behavior.
      They feel like there's something wrong with them because they don't cry at random.

      Typically, no. They don't. Men and women reach fulfilment from very different things. We dont really care about "connecting" or having our feelings validated by someone elses opinion. We want to create, provide, protect, etc. Do you know what the biggest population of emotional men is? Inmates. Prison is full of men that couldnt control their emotions. Men and women are different. We are not equal. Thats not to say one is better than the other, that just means we are different. Humans are at their best together. Women rarely know what they want.. To sit there and just assume we want things because thats what you want is just narcissistic and frankly simple minded.

    Times I've seen my husband cry were when our sons were born because he was so full of love and joy. And more recently, they're teenagers now, when he's worried about being a good father to them, when he's so proud of them for something, and thinking of them going off to live their own lives some day. So basically, when he's overwhelmed with love for his children. ❤ I've noticed women will sob when they're upset crying. But with men it's more stoic, tears will just flow but they don't tend to sob. I think it would take something really bad for the average man to actually cry the way women do. Also I noticed if a man is shedding tears he will often hide it, turn away or won't let it happen unless he's alone.

    This series seems to me like one of those things where it’s not about the destination (getting everyone to cry for $1000) but the journey. Even if they don’t win the money, the video is still great because they learned and experienced something on the way. I like this new series idea.
    Side note: I’m not a huge fan of the voice changer effect lol. Maybe it’s just me, but the voice changer gives me “The Button” vibes, and I think it’s kinda cringy and unnecessary. But again, that might just be me. Just thought I’d give some feedback. I loved everything else about the video.

    the saddest part abt this video is that all of us shut our emotions out because we’re taught at a young age that men don’t cry and it’ll make you less of a man for crying. it makes us feel like opening up will result in us being judged and the sad part is that it’s true. the worst part about our reality is how people are judged for having real human emotions just because it doesn’t fit the social norm. throughout our entire lives we weren’t allowed to cry which results in it being impossible to cry when we’re older. it’s a sad world we live in but it’s just how it is.

    It's awesome to see men in a safe space to open up and be vulnerable with eachother, when families and society constantly have told them it's not safe and not okay. Men have the highest success rates of suicide, and more spaces and moments of connection like this is a huge part of what they need. This warmed my heart to see. I only hope more of these spaces and moments happen for men so they can not feel so alone inside ethat it literally takes their life. To all the men out here--your entire being is worthy of being seen and heard, not just the mask. It's ok to not be ok and vulnerability is a powerful weapon that you deserve to use. What happened to you was not your fault.

    as someone who’s transmasc and taking testosterone, i haven’t been able to cry since i’ve been on it. i can maybe force a tear out or two when i get really sad, but it’s pretty hard for me physically. i believe that has to do with the amount testosterone that inhibits our production of prolactin. hormones can affect your ability to cry, although it’s not the same for everyone and it’s not what determines it overall. so in THAT way i can understand how hard it is for them ;-;
