I was using the needles that come with the cheap starter kits and they got the job done. Got some better quality ones and the difference was amazing. I could tell which needle I was using, they didn’t break at the slightest wrong jab, and cut my felting time way down. It changed my entire view on needle felting.
That really demonstrates the point, I think the cheap ones I purchased weren't too bad, there are probably much cheaper out there but it pays to pay a little bit more, thanks for commenting and watching 😀
Hi😊 from new Brunswick Canada 🍁... Bought a kit then found all your videos and bought almost everything wrong lol 😂 returned everything bought all what you recommend thanks for the videos it helps a lot
Hello in Canda, lovely to have you here and glad my videos have helped. Carded wool is just the best wool to start with, hope it all goes well 😀, thanks for watching xx
Oh, be still my beating heart! I was cringing every time you bent a needle. I love Heidi Feathers and buy as regularly as I can from her. Thanks for this video.🪛 There's not a needle felting emoji so I'm improvising with a screwdriver instead of a multineedle-tool
I just picked up twisted needles ,waiting on delivery :-) Hope you are feeling better ...Colds are horrible and make you sleepy .hope you are resting, when possible xxxx Great Video
When I started to use the needle it just kept breaking when i was middle of almost finishing like im clueless why it breaks like im i pressing to much pressure to the wool or something the ones im using are clover which idk if it cheap needle
Needle felting is a gentle tapping pressure, keep your hand relaxed, don't stab too deep and no twisting or changing direction, needle in and out in same line. If it's not you then it's definitely the needle. Go to a dedicated needle felting shop, heidifeathers is great, you only have to spend 5 to 8 pounds for some great needles x
Just felt a ball of whatever wool you would like and place in a small mug or mine is in a glass jar, squeeze it in and then you don't need to glue it x
I bought the Groz Beckert ones from Sweet Pea Dolls, they are absolutely great but a tiny bit more expensive than Heidifeathers. I found no difference between Heidifeathers and Groz Beckert so don't see the need to spend more money for no reason and I am a big fan of Heidifeathers even before they sponsored me x
Maybe I should go a bit easier on my son, he uses cheap needles, as I don't want him snapping my heidifeathers . But maybe he only snaps so many needles as he is using the cheap ones. Im going to have to experiment whether it's the cheap needles or my 8yo that's the problem 😂

Love the emoji substitute! Yes, it was very horrible breaking needles x

Thank you, so much better now, love twisted needles, hope you like them too x
If you gather enough of the tubes then you can write the needle size with a sharpie...especially if you use a multi tool with different needles
Yes, I have lots of tubes now, must go through them all and sort them out x
Thanks for the video Philippa. Very informative.
Thanks for watching it and glad you liked it 👍
I agree I use Heidi Feathers needle too😊
They really are the best x
Do you have a link?
Heidifeathers link is in description below or go to her Etsy shop x
How do you take out all the little holes when I felt you can see all the holes
Once firmly felted, use the finest needle, it takes ages, sometimes gently smoothing the area with your finger helps to x
Thanks so much I'll try that 😍I'm so happy for my new hobby❤️

@@feltsbyphilippai guess ill try go gentle then
What did you mean by not liking the way it’s felting the surface?
It was leaving it very lumpy so needed alot of going back over to refelt the same area, not something that happens normally with the 38.
How do you make your needle bus stop thankyou
I needlefelted a barrel cactus and put it in a little pot of more brown felt and that’s where I’ve put mine

Why do you use Sweet Pea Dolls needles in the video but link Heidi Feathers ones in the description? Is there something wrong with them?

Probably the cheap needles but worth testing for yourself x
Thanks Philippa....made me cringe watching you bend the needles....😬😘
I know! Do something you really try not to do! X
