  • In this video I have the most fantastic interview with Tracey from Birdie And Blossom. Her business is a subscription box for needle felters to help them advance their skills. It's inspirational to talk to other needle felters who have turned their hobby into an income.
Now, I am just one person and I have done my best with the recording of this interview. I do have a lot to learn and will soon be getting microphones but I hope you will enjoy this interview, I certainly did.

Thank you for doing this video. She is a lovely lady. I have found over the course of almost forty years that people who work with wool have a lovely energy and generous with their knowledge and materials. Whether they raise sheep, spin wool, knit, crochet, wet felt or needle felt. Maybe the laid back, slow pace of sheep is very calming and maybe that energy is in the wool. Again, thank you.

Yes, Tracey is very helpful and generous and that is a lovely analogy of the calmness being transferred from sheep to person, I shall remember that, thanks for watching x

I absolutely loved this video Philippa. I haven't heard of Tracey until now and had a peep at her creations. All I can say to both of you - WOW. I've learned so much from your videos that are a huge source of knowledge that you share with us.
Although i don't attend any workshops, I'm subscribed to a few felters on YT and I can relate with what Tracey said about the felting community being lovely and supporting one another. I couldn't agree more and that's been a huge encouragement for me to keep going and improve my skills further.
I had to laugh at Tracey's comment about the wooden multi needle holder - it is lethal. I learned the hard way when I was stupidly watching TV at the same time as felting a badger using 4 spiral needles. I learned the hard way.
Needle felting is really therapeutic. I am an oncologist and I am all too familiar with death and delivering bad prognoses. I am very emotionally invested and until I started needle felting, my mind was occupied and concerned. Sitting down with bags of fluff and being able to transform them into things I love is so helpful for my emotional health. I get immersed into my childhood, making mice, toadstools, owls - I loved making Albert. There's something magical about needle felting.
The best part is that you can stab and stab and stab for hours and not get arrested. I'm very grateful for your tutorials. You were the first felter that I came across, I just love the way you present your tutorials - easy to follow and very handy tips.
Rachel from The Wishing Shed has some lovely tutorials. I loved making her baby badger. Would you consider making a badger tutorial for us? I'd really love that.
Happy New Year to you and your loved ones and to everyone here in the comments. ~ Leyla

      Hi Leyla,
Tracey really is amazing, she has some fantastic creations, I aim to be as good as she is. I think crafting in general is the therapeutic answer that we all need every now and then. Badgers are in the future but I have to master them first, there are a few good tutorials out there but yes, it's definitely one I would like to be able to felt really well. Take care and thanks for your lovely comment xx
