@Romanian In Germany The Beatles and Elvis have crazy fans but it definitely wasn’t global. Elvis never performed out of America and The Beatles fan base was the U.K. These two artist are more known now globally after their deaths and departures which is odd. Michael was global. He would also have 5,000 faints a night at every concert. It was nothing anyone’s ever seen before.

I don't listen to much of their music, but their popularity was well-documented.

That's literally what they were discussing for the whole video, it's hard to deal with this stuff cause you can't let fans think they can get away with anything, but at the same time if you're too rude to your fans people are gonna judge you either way
Well hitting your fans who are merely holding onto the hand that you are offering them is a bit much, but Beyonce literally went out of her way to greet the person who dragged her off the stage... there's a stark difference xD
Rihanna was just.. grabbed like a second too long it seemed. While they DRAGGED down Beyonce and looked like the fan was dragging her down! The body guard had to PULL her out and by shaking the fans hand and saying "it ok" it rewards the behaviour and makes it seem.. well.. ok when it could go completely south.
In my opinion Beyonce should've addressed the situation in a way that she tells them it's not ok to do that and to not do that to her or any other artist ever again but also say how she loves her fans but it can be a serious security threat to do that

It's kind of a Bajan instinct? I'm from Barbados but usually when someone grabs or hits you without any warning, usually an immediate reflex is to hit back. I don't really expect people outside of Barbados or the Caribbean to really get it but that's kinda how it works. However, this kind of behaviour is only really seen in schools, not often do you see adults doing this in a public setting. Instead, adults would just cuss each other out.
I'm basically saying if you have a problem with someone, you cuss them out. If they grab or hit you in any way, you hit them back, which usually result in fights.

Appreciating artists is cool. Thanking them for their work is cool. Loving them for their craft is cool. But I will never understand how people get so obsessed that they are willing to HURT their idol. That is sick. Doesn't matter how much you wanna hide it behind admiration. It is sick stalker behavior and not okay. Artists and celebs are people with a lot of luck, success and the right timing. Not gods. Doesn't matter what Kanye says.
Agreed. I've never understood the whole "starstruck" thing in general. I remember once years ago, I was working at a grocery store and a limo pulled up. EVERYONE was rubbernecking, trying to see if there was a celebrity in it or something, gossiping about who it might be. I just kept doing my job and was like, "Man, being a celebrity must suck if this is how everyone treats even the thought of your existence."
Years later, I was in New York with my then-girlfriend when we just happened to bump into the lead singer of her favorite indie band. I guess you could consider her a D-list celebrity, so she didn't have security or anything, she was just chatting to her friend and my gf recognized her immediately by her Aussie accent and started freaking out. So of course we "had" to turn around and say hi to her. To her credit, the singer was very nice, and chatted to my gf for a bit about concerts she'd been to. When we parted ways, my gf was basically hyperventilating for a good five minutes straight, and I was just like, "Okay, calm the fuck down, she's just a person. I'm happy you got to meet her, but... chill a little?" She got a little upset that I didn't share her star-studded ecstasy.
I just don't get it. If I ever met Hayley Williams or Brendon Urie or Mike Shinoda (three of my favorite artists), I don't know what I'd say or do, but I definitely wouldn't be freaking out or screaming or treating them like they're not human. FFS.

Mob Mentality I think was the term you were looking for. I’m not a Bieber fan but I totally get why he gets so angry sometimes when fans act like that. I understand that more than Ariana being so sweet about it. That level of kindness in a situation like that is so weird to me!
I understand why Ariana is polite to a degree. She is aware that some people have mental health issues and may not be as in control of their actions as others. She didn't want the person on stage but she recognized that the fan kept their distanc once up there and wasn't an immediate threat and so also didn't want a fan getting hurt or killed just because they wanted to be close to her. I would be protective of my fans as well as myself if I were that big of a star as well. However, I agree with Roomie about not rewarding the behavior.
