Super! That's exactly why I created it, Derek. There was a dearth of good info and comprehensive sound clips. I LOVE these cutouts! Just make sure you get good quality cutouts; I'd recommend Granatelli, for sure.
Badass car! Thanks for the video. You are correct in that most Audi exhaust videos are completely useless. Nice to see someone take the time to do it right. Question - did you consider going the route of APR downpipes and getting those big old cats out of the engine bay? I have the same exact car and the amount of heat generating in the engine with the two turbos is insane and then with the cats sitting right behind the engine block multiplies the heat. Seems like a bad design to me. Since you have done so much work on this, curious to hear your thoughts on the subject.
Hi Charlie, thanks man! I considered downpipes (both APR and RedStar), but just couldn't justify the added expense at the time. Were I to do downpipes, though, I would still keep the cats for emission/environmental reasons, but would definitely try to get the cats as far out of the engine bay as possible.
Awesome video. I deleted resonator/muffler on my s8… and I hear that exhaust crackle when letting off the throttle/downshift. I don’t hear that with yours? Am I just missing it?
Great car mate, congrats! Quick question a bit off topic - how do you like the stock noise insulation on this generation S8? Do you find it quiet in the car for the daily driving?
Thanks for sharing...I like the comparos, especially like having the option of going near-silent or loud and boisterous. Love the murdered look on your S8, she sounds fantastic. Definitely considering going this route, right down to removing the suitcase and upper resonators and of course, the cutouts. Any issues with passing emissions tests? Here in MD we have to do them every two years. In VA and DC it is yearly.
I appreciate your comments. As for emissions, we don't have emissions tests in the NC county where I live, so it's not an issue for me. However, given that you have to do them biannually, you'll definitely want to look into the legality of cutouts. I wouldn't anticipate any problems actually passing emissions (assuming you've not altered your cats, which is what reduces toxic emissions; however, some states do prohibit installation of exhaust cutouts. Now, all that said, there may be shops in your area that would be willing to "miss" noticing your cutouts. ;)
Great video! Found you from some recommendations on audizine! Do you happen to know if this would sound similar on a 2016 A8L? My ignorance says the difference in motor compression may have a hand in it but id love your input :)
Sounds great Josh. In your opinion, how effective would this be without the X pipe modifications? Any tune on this car? Any idea of labor price just for the cut outs?
Thanks Dennis. The muffler and suitcase deletes and x-pipe made very little noticeable difference in tone or volume. So, based on that, I think the cutouts would sound pretty much the same even without the deletes/x-pipe. It is tuned; APR Stage 1. Labor for the cutouts was $499; it took them about 8 hours.
Assuming you mean programming it to the Home Link buttons, you do it just like you would program the buttons to your actual garage door. That'll probably vary some by model, but I just had to go to settings in the MMI, then press the appropriate button on the cutout remote while holding it in front of the driver headlight. Took all of 30 seconds. Super easy.
Thanks for documenting your journey, Josh! The WOT with cutouts open drive-by were my fave sounds ;-) Just got a 2015 S8... This was my A6 2.7T straight pipes instagram.com/p/2bLscwRxTi/
Finally I found a good video of someone that knows how to downshift and it sounds amazing as well just the hole video was amazing man I appreciate it
Thanks bud!
Great video, Josh. Thank you for putting in the time and effort to help others!
Just seeing this. My pleasure. Literally, it was my pleasure to drive rowdy and capture it on video. 🤣 These cutouts are top-notch!
This is fantastic! just the info I was looking for. I want some more growl, but still be able to hush things up on my C7 S6. Thank you!

@@WeightManagementCtr I'm going to order the parts you linked to.
Thank you for the video Sir.
I'm going to follow your led.
Wow, the D4 is a ridicolously isolated car.
Not even getting drone with the cutouts open is straight impressive.

Has this amazing spaceship been reliable for you?
Awesome video. I deleted resonator/muffler on my s8… and I hear that exhaust crackle when letting off the throttle/downshift. I don’t hear that with yours? Am I just missing it?
Thanks! Yes, it'll crackle some on deceleration.
AMAZING VIDEO Josh. Thank you for making this Amazing video. Great location
Happy to do it. Let me ask you, is there any sort of recommended maintenance for these/your cutouts? Wash, lube, etc.?
@@WeightManagementCtr Just plug and play you can always put WD40 but it is not needed
Any dyno results open versus closed?
Would u just do the resonators looking for options on exhaust
Ah! Not just my car! That tire noise is the same 🙆🏾♂️
Very helpful, thank you

Thanks man. Hard to say. It might sound slightly different, but I would imagine it would sound very similar.
Great video. Any info on programming to hone link?
You program the cutout remote just like you would a garage door opener. That will depend on the model of your car, so refer to those instructions.

Thanks for sharing! This is probably the approach that I will go for as well on my 2013 S8. You can check it on my channel!

Josh Brown Thanks!
@@WeightManagementCtr thats pretty damn cool... good stuff
Do you remember where you bought the x pipe from?
Yes, I had it custom made at an exhaust shop in Raleigh, NC.
@@WeightManagementCtr did you have to space down that brace right below the x pipe? Almost looks like some extra nuts in there.
@@Ryan-rp1es , I'm honestly not sure.
awesome video very helpful thank you
Glad it was helpful, fre760!
Nice
Any drone with the cutouts open?
