Excellent advice, thank you! I am a maintenance mechanic myself, and one of the first things I learned was that $20K Snap On toolbox is not going to make you any more money then that U.S. General box that cost 80-90% less. Buy the best tools you can afford at the time, and never stop improving your knowledge ... that is what will make you money.
Use water in your ultrasonic cleaner and use glass jars for your parts with whatever cleaner you want in the jar to keep the ultrasonic cleaner clean glass jars let the sound pass through better than plastic
@jacksautorepairdefinately agree, only way I would have done this deal is if I wanted the box. It also almost looks like someone already went through it and took the “good” stuff out.
I’ve got the same matco 6s tool box had it for about a year only difference mine is 31 inches deep has 3 long drawers but still a 87 inch long triple bank 6s traded my old 6s double bank and matco side box and after trade in I still owed 12k just that bottom box new is 23k top box is around 10k lockers are about 6k a piece so yeah you got a hell of a deal now yours is older but you could easily sell just the box alone for 12-15k without the tools you could get closer to 20k with tools selling it all in one but I’m not telling you what to do but I would keep it and later down the road if you want to sell it you can sell it for more than what you paid but you got a hell of a deal
When you go to move out of that space you will find out why the previous owner unloaded this "great deal" for only $8K. Don't buy and accumulate tools that you don't need. You really need a smaller toolbox because more than half of the tools stored in that one are useless junk.
They're saying $8000 is a good price just for the toolbox alone I think you got to be crazy to put that kind of money into a toolbox unless of course you're a big mechanic I can remember when you could buy three brand new cars for that money. but I suppose that goes without saying Lots of stuff would be sellers on ebay put It in a different perspective to get your $8000 back you've got to have 80 -100 dollar items I know it's simple math but I have to make a profit I wouldn't buy it just for the sake of having it I haven't turned a wrench since 1978 Cool to watch but I'll keep my $8000 in the bank as far as the toolbox goes and it's quite a job to get all the tools in order and cleaned up to make a profit might just as well get a regular job.
You are not very tool savvy, going to toss or sell tools, and think that the new “parts” have some kind of magical value to them. The snap-on pass through device is 2k or so, I’d bet you sold it for $50-100? Your “friend” kept what he wanted from that box, and made you a deal on the rest, but you don’t leave the impression that you work with tools a lot.
Preety humbling to realize what a lifetime of collecting tools end up as. This is a reminder to all the mechanics out there to not overspend on tools.

8k is crazy for the toolbox alone
It really isn't. Most mechanics must dispose of their toolboxes and tools when they retire because they no longer have room to store them.
That box is worth much more you got a great deal.

That was a smoking deal, great pick up!
The dial indicator is for measuring runout for like brake rotors and hubs.
Can be used to check ball joints movement
6:35, that looks like stud removal kit. Super handy if you do automotive. Car/light truck.
Dial caliper indicator kit. The vise grips are to hold it in place. Used to measure runout in rotors, hubs, etc.
Seems like a great buy! Box a lone is good momoney!
Great deal!
Since I thought it was worth up to $27K, depending on the brand of tools and completeness of sets, paying $8K was probably a good deal.

Great deal for the toolbox alone, need I say more!!!
Awesome deal, i gave 5k for my triple bay bottom box only matco 4s 5 years ago

Your "good friend" must uave took all the good power tools all the good pliers and all the good ratchets just to name a few tools that are missing
What an awesome score. The box alone is over 20k new I'm sure. Gotta remove that junk so you can add your own. 😅
Hope you lined the drawers, I like indoor outdoor carpet over the drawer liner kits.
I love the little black plastic Craftsman tool box..
Absolutely incredible video! Like the other comment said, $8K for the box alone is a great deal ... let a lone all the tools you got! Good for you!!
Couldn't agree more! Ty!!
Great deal!!!
Did the owner of the tool box die.
The matco boxes without the lockers are more than than you paid with tools im guessing everything would be well other 30k you made out brother.
So glad to hear that! Thanks dude!
You got a real good deal
Great deal honestly
You got pretty good deal !!!! I'm sure you will be happy with everything expect you don't need lot junks... I think about $8,000.00
Sounds like you don’t know much about tools.
So much for the tool truck relationship. At least the po had one. Lol
And you are supposed to be a mechanic…. You don’t seem like you have ever used tools before!
I have other videos showing my work 😅
Not knowing what a dial indicator was got me cracking up 😅
Thinking the same thing. Not knowing the name of basic tools had me wincing.
@@gregoryenste8459 that is what I based my opinion on….
I liked the finger snapping time saver deal - fun idea .
That's a smoking deal on that box with tools!!!!
Very good deal
8k for $900 work of harbor freight tools 😂
This was some ones whole life and his bread and butter tools he relied on these tools for a living . They are lifetime tools.
