The backup dancer line: I think it's when Kanye performed at the BRITS and brought a lot of the UK rappers on the stage and they danced in the background. People called all these rappers out and called them backup dancers for Kanye. But, many believe Kanye invited all these rappers onstage during his performance to pay respects to them, since he was performing at the BRITS, a UK award show.
I first have heard backup dancer as an insult in the song dog shit from wu tang clan back in the days. I always thought it’s a common insult among hip hop artists in English speaking countries. Seams I was wrong

And I've been to Canada, Mexico, guatemala, el Salvador, guatemala, Honduras, Puerto Rico's, the Bahamas, Belgium, israel, palestine,Syria, and Jordan and know what, we may not have the history or the pretty sights BUT out of all the places I've been Americans as a whole definitely live better, our schools are among the best in the world, our military is the strongest in the world, etc.. the world is a beautiful place with many amazing countries, but in my experience, I live in one of the best!

That beat is big!!! XTC 2004 an original grime beat from when the movement was in its infancy. I would actually say it’s probably the most well known grime instrumental there is from one of its best producers from those days. Everybody used to try sampling it! Take me back. I loved Grime when it was just emerging. Called ‘Functions on the Low’

Yeeeeessssssssss, I've been waiting for this one!!!!!! Grime has a strong influence from battle rap and focuses more on bars than it does beats. Lyricism isn't as dead in the U.K. as it has become in the USA.
There is a reason Stormzy won the BET for best European artist. "Big for Your Boots" and "One Take Freestyle" are two songs that really show off Stormzy's swagger and lyricism, plus the beats are much more hype.

Lyricism is dead in the US on a MAINSTREAM level. It is certainly not dead in general though. Check out our Oswin Benjamin, Nick Grant, Russ, Lil D, Logic, Mick Jenkins, J Cole vids bro. There are quite a few incredible lyricists that STILL rhyme at the highest level worldwide that come from the US. Thanks for watching though sir!

Nah thats just london slang, especially in the black community. The black immigrant community in the UK has a very different history to its US counterpart, and one of the differences today is slang and accent, as you would expect. Even white people in inner city london have their accents and slang influenced by patois, its just a typical story of an immigrant community changing a native language over time, quite literally a story as old as history itself.
Stormzy was one of the mob of people, most of them UK artists, at the BRIT awards stood behind Kanye as he performed All Day in 2015. Hence 'back-up dancer"

I'm glad you did this reaction. I just recently started listening to Grime and would like information on some artist to listen to. I bought J-Me and Skepta's album and it was well worth the money.
Top comment, JME is one of my favourites. I can highly recommend Akala (mostly rap), Kano (classic grime) and Ghetts my all time top choice. Also search Daily Duppy, great videos help people understand grime. Hope this helps bro!

Lets go a Reaction off something from the UK homies, I love it man. Especially seeing how the rap game is growing internationally throughout different countries got me intrigued. Stormzy got solid bars that makes up for the mediocre beat and the way his crew emphasized parts of the song was really entertaining. Good looks on this one Lost In Vegas and showing love to other parts of the world.

Nate Baker you say mediocre beat, kinda a grime classic.
A lot of these beats were literally made by teenagers in their bedrooms using basic computer and music equipment. Early in 2000's when grime was just picking up they took the style and speed of garage/dubstep and made their own kind of sound, this was a super early beat.
I wouldn't say mediocre though, also lyrically Stormzy isn't massively impressive and are noticeably better UK artists and lyricists
