Hi guys. So I have a theory about this song that you guys may have missed. i could be wrong here, but i think the song is structured on the 5 Stages of Grief (aka the Kubler-Ross model) The song starts with DENIAL, the whole beginning of the song he talks about how he doesnt need saving, and doesnt need healing. ANGER, The tone turns aggressive as he starts talking about how he'll "put shots in your frame" for criticizing him, how his gang run the streets, and they are the ones putting pressure BARGAINING, the song suddenly turns upbeat, and Dave starts to talk about the kind of life he wants and deserves, how he has earned it, and is in a way owed that life, DEPRESSION, then comes the inevitable crash straight into depression, and the music follows that crash as well, and he starts to talk about all his insecurities. ACCEPTANCE, right at the end where he comes to terms with his past and there is a small resolution, he seems to drop the facade and get real. lemme know what you think. :) P.S. great channel, keep up the good work
Probably the best interpretation I have seen, I can totally see it now that you've said it. Dave's loss of his favourite brother (to prison), his grandma RIP and his father through deportation have left some serious pain, scars and grieving. Dave is highly emotionally intelligent so this theory makes complete sense. 👍
Ya'll have to do 'black' off the album. Thats the best song on the album imo. I mean dave says "the blacker the berry the sweeter the juice the blacker the killer the sweeter the news" 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This has been long overdue my brothas. Dave is amazing fr. For his age his mind and perspective on life is advanced. Would love for you guys to react to Streatham and Leslie. Much love to you guys! 👊
Watching your analysis of this is fascinating, the way you break down complex concepts quickly and in a way that’s easy to understand and still very entertaining is a gift
Black is another dope track by Dave off the album. Shout out from SA 🇿🇦 #Freethinkers PS: Still waiting on some Jay Z meet the parents for a throwback 😉🔥
@@drogon127 You obviously don't know how many reviews they've done on tracks they've heard. Always dope to hear what other people have to think when breaking down the track. Plus Jay is Georges favorite rapper so would be dope to hear what he has to say about that Jay z classic.
One of the best lines in the song, which not many people will catch (especially those not from England) is “I used to tell my teachers that nobody gets it. I don’t know Clarke but I know that I’m a kidult...” “Gets”, as in Ghetts, the MC from London. “Know” sounds like Noel, the actor Noel Clarke started in a film called kidulthood (re: “kidult”). Ghetts’ real name is also Justin Clarke. Just crazy clever wordplay
The ending of this track straight up just gave me the chills. Incredible track. Just wanna say too that you guys really are awesome with these reactions. I learn something about the track when I watch you guys and I'm all about the bars. Keep going!
Dave’s wordplay is insane! He’s one of the best by far. Most songs are like this - even when u look back at something he did at 15/16 is crazy. Check out Jekyl & Hyde.

Guys such a good reaction! You really hit the same points I was thinking when I first heard this a while back! If you liked this song though, check out Dave - Streatham (cuz it’s a banger)
FINALLLLLYY!! You know the song was good when they have to apologize multiple times for pausing the music lmao. If you could react to his song Black as well, that would be sooo great. Would really love to hear y'all thoughts on that song
I love the way he switches to a more catchy, commercial style beat and flow, talking about girls and even makes the party/bacardi rhyme. Dave is too smart to make this rhyme without a deep meaning. Everything he says has a meaning. Here, the meaning is that he has to show that being deep isn't all it's about. He needs to be known so that people hear his message. Commercial success will get his other messages out there so it's a balancing act. for him. "I could be the rapper with the message like you're hoping But what's the point in me being the best if no one knows it?" It's genius.

Ever since Dave started producing music i’ve followed him closely. I’ve spend more hours listening to his songs rather then working. That says a lot btw, cuz I work almost 50 hours a week.
