Honestly, I love seeing other people opinions about game packs because, for example, I never use parenthood and it really is a pack that I don't enjoy, but to people like lilsimsie it's an absolute must have and watching this kind of videos makes me want to revisit those packs that I would normally not use
Honestly, the realm of magic pack is fantastic! Builds are so easy to replace so I don’t feel like that should be a factor in deciding what’s a good pack or not
Since the base game is free now a lot of brand new players may not know that the lots can be replaced so I think its fair to have *some* weight attached to the quality of the pre built lots
@@thejompi yeah I was thinking about that especially with cottage living and snowy escape - like, OK, they had simmers build the lots and they turned out very pretty. That's great but it also makes me feel really bad about bulldozing them lmao. Honestly, I personally would like about half of the lots in a new world to look great, so it kinda sets the vibe and you don't have to rebuild *everything* just to enjoy the world... But if every lot looks great and only one is empty, that kinda creates a dilemma for me haha
@@lildaisyheart she does it a lot. complaints or praises a pack but then on stream or in other videos, says she loves them or gripes about the same packs. It's probably just ingrained into her that she should be cheerful and not complain too much because this is her job and doesn't want to give off a bad image to ea and have herself blacklisted. But that's just my speculation
A trick that I use for people that might be interested in the camping stuff without wanting to go to the vacation world is I make national parks that are campsites in residential worlds. It's really cute to send my Sims on a camping trip without having to go all the way to granite falls. Like in the bramblewood in Henford on Bagley or the museum lot in brindleton Bay both have campgrounds in my save
I personally really like vampires but with that I have to say, I really like the goth aesthetic and am goth myself. So if you’re also goth, its amazing
Yep and if you're more of a pop-punk kinda person, you might like the werewolves pack. I feel like when evaluating new focus groups for packs they were like: OK, we gotta sell the weirdos some BB and CAS items... Might as well put them with the occults, they like that kind of stuff!
Not gonna lie, Strangerville is one of my all time favorite packs. I've played through the story so many times and I love all the content. The builds definitely need a refresh, but otherwise I love it so much. It'd be really cool to see you do a series using just the pack and base game and redoing the entire world. Same with other worlds like Realm of Magic.
I love strangerville, and I wish we had more storytelling packs like it! But because everyone “hates” the pack, we’re just stuck with more of the same packs rather than anything different
semi-irrelevant comment: I wish they had made tiny living and eco lifestyle into one game or expansion pack. They could have made a tiny living world with tiny home community lots and each community has a focus on something like gardening or crafting etc and a couple off-the grid lots in the woods or something. They could have expanded build mode with more built- in furniture options like under-stair storage cupboards, a single burner cooktop and wheels as a new foundation option! New sims traits like nomadic, community-oriented or tiny living. I just love tiny homes and building them always sparks so much creativity. Obviously I don't know how easy/difficult it would be to make all of those things but nonetheless it is my wish.
100%. I'm currently saving up for a tiny home (and planning the layout) so this would've been fantastic! Tiny homes hace such creative storage and layout options
I would say, if you want Jungle Adventure, Outdoor Retreat is almost necessary. They synergize so well. You can take the portable shower, and bed, and tents, and what have you from Outdoor Retreat with you to Selvadorada, which makes exploring the temple so much better, imo. You can take care of your needs much better while you're working on digging up the archeology spots or exploring deeper into the temple. Whenever I explore the temple, my sims can basically live in the temple for days until I finish digging everything up in almost luxury. Plus, the portable double bed from OR is technically a portable woohoo spot. lol
Yes! All of this. Jungle Adventure and Outdoor Retreat are my 2 favorite packs overall (including Expansions). And yes, they fit together so well for all the reasons you stated.
It’s not necessary at all. It makes it easier but you can enjoy it just fine standalone. I’d recommend only getting jungle adventure personally because it does most things that OR does but better.
Oh wow thanks for the tip. I have never used my tent in Jungle Adventure and am so annoyed when the day ends and I have to go back to my vacation home. I am constantly making my Sims archeologists and/or treasure hunters too
Batuu holds a special place in my heart, my family was supposed to go to Disneyland Halloween time of 2021, we were ready to leav in like 3 days, when my dad got COVID. I was really bummed out because I was supposed to go make a droid at Star Wars land, so my mom bought me this pack to cheer me up. It was so sweet of her 😊
Everyone who’s just starting out with the sims needs to watch these tier what packs you should and shouldn’t buy. We need these videos at least once every year.
I agree, although it's also important to note that not everyone enjoys the same things for their games. To me, Dream home decorator is a must have, but to someone who doesn't care much about build/buy it could be a waste of money, and I think that that's something that everyone should take in consideration when they see a tier list of packs
@@kittentea4101 I agree. Building is my favorite thing to do although I don't like Dream Home Decorator. The furniture is bland and it looks like stuff from ikea
@@kittentea4101 Yeah, these lists I think are generally useless as advice, though they're fun as entertainment, because everyone likes different types of gameplay and plays the Sims in different ways.
It’s a bit of overkill when there’s only a few packs that come out a year these days (minus kits). She ends up saying the same thing over and over for the packs that have been out for years.
I actually like how stranger ville was presented.. like the houses are strange, the story, the items, the sims.. theyre all strange. As if an alien was attempting a normal household but ended up a bit off and sorta liminal.
Lol that's a funny way to look at it. And I sincerely feel the same about the items, they are actually great for weird and creepy sci fi horror storytelling even outside of strangerville. But there is no excuse for the houses on these lots, even if an alien built them :D
Back when she talked at the speed of light and would rant about susans and we didn’t know what she looked like, she was so small and young, LOOK AT HER NOW 🥹
Spa day is the first pack I’ve purchased for my sims game, I use it legit in very game with all my sims being super proficient in yoga 😅 Love seeing other players opinions on this! ♥️
I'm hoping EA will follow through with their supposed promise of giving us pack refreshes, Vampires refreshed would be so amazing specifically beyond so many of the others of course. Still hoping!
I love werewolves because you can tell it was a passion project instead of a forced one. but I hate that they released high-school years not even a month later over shadowing the poor pack. deserves way more credit than it was ever given
I recently got outdoor retreat and use something out of it in almost every save game. I am a huge rags to riches and off grid fan. The build buy is extremely helpful for that. I also like that there is so many more items to make on the woodworking station. The planters are great.
I personally love the CAS in all the occult packs, but by far my favorite game pack has to be Jungle Adventure. I admittedly don't use it a ton, but I have put hours into it in a save file I made specifically to play that pack. I'm really interested in archaeology in real life, which is why I bought the pack and why I like it, but I genuinely have so much fun playing it. The temples are really fun and unique, and some of the stuff you can find is super cool. Overall I just absolutely adore that pack.
I'm just starting my sims 4 journey and I love realm of magic! I pair it a lot with the paranormal pack and I think they work so well together. I love videos like these
me too! I like to consider these packs in all the ways that don't involve the builds since I know plenty of people out there have made better ones on the gallery
Interesting. I agree with your assessment of everything in RoM, but it's still a must for me because I just really love magic in the Sims. It was like that for me in Sims 3 as well, even if some of the spells a bit gamebreaking. Take 1 vacation to Selvadorada with burgliate and copypasto and you'll never need money again after 1 visit to the museum (10k simoleon gold plate which you just copy forever). ANYWAY, I just really like putting occult sims in general in really mundane situations and seeing how they juggle their weird nature and even use it to succeed in everyday life. There's something funny about, for example, being a doctor vampire. Dr. Acula. Or being a spellcaster and just being a total fraud gaining fame by copying items that give you fame to sell or random stuff like that.
I've been hoping for a pack refresh of Outdoor Retreat (and Jungle Adventure to a lesser extent) since Snowy Escape came out. With the rental lot type, there's no need to lock those worlds into vacation only now. I honestly forget those worlds exist because they're on a different screen (which works for Batuu, lol) and vacations just aren't part of my gameplay. But would love if my sims could live in Granite Falls.
Strongly agree! I've used a mod that makes both worlds residential in the past but it didn't work that great, kind of a buggy experience. It would be so cool if this was juts officially taken care of, especially because these worlds would let you create very different types of sims that feel ouf of place in the other worlds.
I find it so funny that Kayla’s priorities and style of gameplay in the Sims is nearly the exact opposite of how I like playing, but I still consider her one of my favorite RUclipsrs of all time. Like, she always prioritizes realistic gameplay and build mode while I absolutely love using CAS, making occults, and coming up with overly fantasized storylines for my Sims, and I still manage to thoroughly enjoy watching her content every single day 😂 Not to mention-Simsie loves new deaths while I take every necessary precaution to prevent any of my Sims from dying 😶 I absolutely adore you and your content, Kayla!! ❤
I feel the same! I'm ride or die for Strangerville and hate things like Parenthood, but I still love Kayla's content! It's always fun to see how other people play 🙂
my legacy founders are a werewolf and a mermaid and it took her NINE GENERATIONS to get a vampire! i love how different her play style is from mine. gives a sense of balance to see the dream life vs occult lover players
I would really like it if I could live in the world! Because honestly it’s so pretty and cool (and there’s literally nothing else like it in the game). I wish we could go there without having to be on holiday (but one time a sim invited me to a plot there for a party lol which was fun)
@@erina2600 wondering if you considered mods (if you're not on console) because with Zerbu's All worlds are residential mod you can live in Selvadorada and I love it SO MUCH. The world is so mindblowingly beautiful and unique and living in the jungle / cute marketplace area is such a cool day to day experience ! I really recommend. It's super easy to install and then boom you get to live in Granite Falls and Selvadorada. Best mod ever.
@@mwahha6965 It doesn't break very often, I usually just check the link's page I've saved after a big update and often it's written if a new updated version is out and you should replace the one in your game. But tbh, if you only have this mod it's really quick, trouble-free and not very often :)
Out of the game packs I have my ranking would be 1) Spa Day 2) Realm of Magic 3) Dream Home Decorator 4) Dine Out 5) Vampires. I can never remember if I own Vampires or not because I never play it or use anything from it. Spa Day on the other hand, I use alllll the time. All my worlds have spas or gym/spa combos and all my sims have the wellness skill. I love doing rags to riches where my sim is a massage therapist and essentially starts her own business that way
I love seeing others opinions about the packs! Personally I love occult sims and id say vampires are my favourite pack to use, I love the create a sim options and the aesthetic. I find the vintage glamor also works really well with the vampires !
Werewolves has to be one of my favourite packs in the entire game as the world literally feels lived in and the werewolf system in one my favourites by far. Maybe I am biased as I got werewolves right after it came out but I literally have to play with occults in my game
My top packs are Vampires, Realm of Magic, Strangerville and Outdor Retreat. They have my favourite worlds, build items and gameplay. Tbh, the Star Wars pack would be there if i could justify buying a pack just for the build items because i love sci-fi, but don't care about Star Wars.
My personal ranking by packs I play with the most: Jungle Adventure, Outdoor Retreat, Dream Home Decorator, Strangerville, Parenthood (but every house I build has those counters), Werewolves, Vampires, Realm of Magic, Spa Day, Dine Out, I used Batu once. These aren't the packs I build with the most, but when I play, that's how I play. I'll also note I get a lot of use out of every pack except Dine out, so they're all really, really close. I don't own MWS.
I actually build with the Star Wars pack alot. It's kinda fun to just make something totally out of this world. I'm also the type that goes into debug to get DJ Rex for a nightclub lol. Or if I'm doing the decorator career and get a family I dislike (the Landgraabs!).. Hi- would you like some Batuu stuff in your living room? LOL.
Realm of magic is my absolute favorite for gameplay. I’m more of a gameplay player than a builder and I love the idea of learning new spells and making potions. Totally respect your opinion but for those who love occult gameplay, this is my all time favorite pack
RoM and Strangerville are def. bops for me, not flops. They're so much fun and diverse, speaking in gameplay-sense. I couldn't care less about teaching kids being responsible and whatnot, but give me fun and exciting sims with adventure and i'll play forever
I love sending my Sim’s to the Star Wars area. They go on vacation and bring back souvenirs. I never really thought about the magic house being terrible I guess cause I never really look at it with all the walls up I just go and play in it. 🤣
I've been getting back into the Sims 4 and found your videos. My sister and I have loved these games since mother bought the original game (along with our first home computer) when we were kids around 2003. I enjoy these tier list vids, it helps me when deciding what packs and expansions I'll try next.
I'm making my own list based on my preferences with the descriptions you gave, just got sims 4 but have played it on my sister's account before on her device, thank you for these videos
I really need for them to make Selvadorada a normal living world. 2:35 Outdoor retreat is fine for what it was. The aspiration is broken thanks to Seasons and how the plant objectives are done. Extremely hard to finish. One thing that heavily annoyed me - the Little Camper Kit should have been an update to this and EA is bonkers that they still haven't updated this GP. If I had to improve it - for one, it could have been added as normal world. Aside Batuu I don't see a reason for keeping vacation locations. I think expanding the world with more plot based challenges and adding option to hike if you have Snowy Escape would be great. Also more trees and cabin like items. Also now that we have Off-the-grid - this pack would be better with some additional showers, grills and generators that you could use on the run. Also would love an option where you can build more cohesive campsites, so aside small tents for sleeping - it would be nice to have like bigger tent like roofs and build tools that would allow you to create for example a bigger food tents and so and so. And that would also work for other packs like Jungle Adventure could have archaeological tents, Strangeville could use that for military bases. 4:00 Spa Day got majorly improved with the nails and the counters getting more swatches (perfect for kitchens), but I still don't consider it that great of a GP. It definitely grew from "skip" to "its ok to have, if you need GP for a bundle". I still would maybe add more swatches and items to it. Maybe more work options as well. Like it would be nice to have maybe a hairdresser career added to that and maybe have new lot type mixed with Spas, that would allow for just have nail and hair salon type of thing. Like Sims 4 is white millenial women simulator, so this would work perfectly into their usual quota. When they announced the updates - I actually hoped it would water park themed on top of the nails. Like that would make Spas so much better, especially, if you could mix it with Hotel lots. Imagine kids going to swimming pools and slides where parents chill in spa. And you wouldn't really need to add a lot? Like only add few prebuilt slides if you don't want to do it segment by segment (that would be top idea) and add pool guards to save drowning people (top idea would be active career). 5:40 Dine Out is the worst GP that could actually be worth it, due to how slow and glitchy it always has been. And because of how underwhelming it is compared to any restaurant based packs in past games. Like even Sims 1 had better experience. I'm over being a manager of any establishment in this game. This is the pack that needs next update. It needs improvements and a waiter + chef active careers. Maybe even a food joint worker would be nice to have. Like imagine if you could work at City Living Festivals with this pack, preparing and selling the food in stalls. Also it needs item update like all older packs. Personally - this is pack to skip and only buy it after they fix it/improve it. 7:10 You arent objective here. Vampires are second best GP and it has elements that outperforms Werewolves in. Even if Werewolves are much better and improved pack to this. Just CAS and build and buy outperforms any other GP and many Expansions. Vampires walked so Werewolves can run. What i would improve in vampires - all occults should have bigger integration all mixed into Realm of Magic as the main place to hangout. A hidden society thing we had since first games, also bring hybrids, I'm over racial segregation of occults. Then it just needs more lore and bigger world. I really think that Base Game should have one more world to live in that is unlocked after accomplishing a challenge, where you have different areas unlocked based on what GPs you have. Like Base Game would have only Ghost and Plant Sim neighbourhoods, both accomplished by finishing special Ghost and Plant Sim challenges. Aside that - Vampires are great. I barely would add anything more to it. More items is always welcomed though. Maybe would add more dishes for them as well. Oh also we finally need separate category for distress, dirt and damaged items. But that's whole game issue - where none of the filters and categories make sense anymore or work properly. 8:25 Objectively it is must have GP just for the items and the world. Also I find disturbing you put it lower than Dine Out. 8:35 Parenthood gets too much heat for not being Generations, and I think its more EA issue than pack issue. Parenthood adds plethora of amazing items and gameplay. It is clearly must have even if you arent family oriented, because of how nice some of those items are. Its third best GP in the game. I would probably add more either items or gameplay. Especially children based items and clothes would be nice to have here, also all the family game activities like sports, board games, more special holidays, maybe expanded Birthdays. But also more elder interactions like helping new parents and playing with kids. When parents are going to work it would be nice if we could invite grandparents and have ability to follow our kids on their adventures instead going to work. 10:35 Selvadorada is the best small world available in the game (one of the best in general) . Should be a normal world. This is probably the best swatched build item pack in whole game. This is must have just for the tiles it offers. And the adventure/archeology part isn't bad. It is repetitive and somehow shallow at some point though. Improvements would love to see - make it a normal world. Maybe add even more items. Give us Tourist Guide career, expand the temples so they are more exciting and rewarding. Expand archeology with maybe something like extinct animals specialisation - more lore for ancient animals and Sims. Easily in top 5 GPs for me. 12:10 Strangeville is unfinished - period. Amazing build and buy. World is actually really beautiful as well. Theme and idea are not wrong. But it lacks depth. Improvements needed - we need chapter 2 that makes more lore relevant stuff like us trying to find Bella Goth. Expand on Aliens, maybe add Sixam to the game (if not in Get To Work). Also just give us full on playable military career, with split between fighting supervillains and researching aliens or something. With majority of the work just being a trainee soldier and training other soldiers. Also all houses need to be fixed. I don't mind them being strange, but actually make them weird instead of underwhelming. Personally it actually grew on me over the years - I use a lot of those items, especially doors and windows are beautiful. But yeah, still pretty meh. 13:05 They are perfect for all futuristic and mechanical builds. I used this pack for most part when I did your Round Shell. And all items were super useful for me to make a rocket hidden inside a pink suburban (I need to make similar concept for my rebuilds of the world lots - cause that's the level of weird Strangeville needed, spaceships hidden in old western type shacks).
Personally in this order: - Werewolves, Dream Decorator, Vampires, Parenthood are must have. - good, but not needed: Jungle Adventure, Spa Day, Outdoor Retreat, Realm of Magic. - ok, but need improvements or fixes: Dine Out, Strangeville - skip, until fixed: Batuu, Wedding Stories. I fully disagree on idea that empty set that are Sims 4 worlds are any reason to push Wedding Stories any higher than lowest bottom. It's the worst pack period, only winning to Kits. Also I disagree with your anti-occult-bias. Obviously different people will have different views and it is understandable that people who don't like occults, or don't like family gameplay, or only build - will put some packs rank or two lower or higher. But you should also be more objective. Like I would definitely note that you would normally put all occults lower, if it was your personal opinion. But it's supposed to be "what you should or not buy" - and occult packs are actually really worth it. Wedding Stories doesn't deserve anything higher than meh. It's disrespectful to all the other packs that you put lower than it. Especially Strangeville and Spa Day. Awful release, pack that instead of focusing on Weddings just gives new world and replaces normal weddings with buggy mess. Sorry, but no - for how much those packs cost, that's fake advertisement. When you talked about all the stuff you "can" do in this pack - it only sounds great on paper, but pretty much none of it goes further than shallow basic. There is no really an option to pick wedding traditions or organise ceremony itself aside buying a cake, that isn't even intuitive or well done. Like I can overlook anything on this ranking aside WS placement. Kinda like with Discover University in last video.
My play style focuses heavily on families (growing together is actually the only DLC I've pre-ordered for any game ever) and I very rarely have an all-human family. My occult ranking from best to worst: 1. Spellcaster. It doesn't really have any major drawbacks unless you're constantly using magic, and the perks minimize the risk of sims dying even more. Curses dont really happen to my sims if I keep them out of the magical realm so they're less likely to do stuff to cause curses. The spells, particularly the practical spells, truly help a lot. Especially when there are a lot of kids and not a lot of time. Something expensive breaks? Repair it with magic! Toddler used potty chair? Scruberoo! Need a quick meal? Conjure one magically! 2. Vampires. Also super cool and super fun, and like Simsie said they can be very different. They're well-balanced as well. My only real complaint is that the houses you can move into are all covered in garlic so I need to do a sweep of the house before my vampires can enter while they're burning in the sun. The aspirations are also a lot of fun to complete. 3. Werewolves. I usually can't have more than 1-2 werewolves in a household without losing my sanity, but they're still super fun to play with. I usually play with them for stories or when I need a fun change of pace. 4. Mermaids. As they exist in the sims, they're just boring. They're basically normal sims unless you're in Sulani, which is super restrictive. Even in Sulani, there's not a whole lot you can do. The Expanded Mermaid mod is a must-have, with that they're a lot more fun. 5. Aliens. I tend to just forget they exist unless there's an abduction, and I've only made one alien in CAS.
Personally I use SO much strangerville and jungle adventure build/cas stuff. I don't know how i built without them! And strangerville is so nice, we have a new desert!!! Maybe I just like the american gothic aesthetic but like. Strangerville is cool!
I feel like sims should have done windows the way they do cabinets and counters I understand why they didn't because it would take longer to make/program but we would have matching windows with different sizes lol
Not gonna lie, I've had the Outdoor Retreat pack for years and I never even knew I could do a vacation in the Outdoor Retreat world- I didn't even know it came with like a whole new area so thank you lilsimsie for telling me about this. Also love the previous video you did on roofing tutorials for the sims 4 it inspired me and helped me allot when it comes to building!
I'm a major fantasy fan, I haven't played through with Vampires yet. And I have yet to get realm of magic and Werewolves, but I think I'll rlly like them because of all the different abilities it gives your sims. Plus making fantasy game or story characters. Everybody has there opinions ofc!
I think that it's actually good to have houses that are empty, because every time I move my sims in to a house the first thing I do, is delete all the objects and build my own stuff. So, maybe it's not that bad, it's just faster to start playing :D Two weird houses in the world and that pulls the ranking down? Just delete the house as soon you move in and the problem's gone :D :D
I had a snobby Sim and created a "Self Care" Get Together club where we met at the Spa and got points for doing spa activities and working out. It honestly changed the Spa Day pack for me, suddenly it was a really unique way to hangout and get fit.
I hate outdoor retreat. I didn’t know it was a vacation world and i begged by parents for it when i asked for sims. I thought i was a playable world that isn’t vacation and I was sad. But its def fun if its like a story mode, I’ve used it for “honeymoons” after having sims get married
I think I only ever use Batu for build items. I never take my sims there, but it has some items I always use when I play with spellcasters and/or when I build cottages, which I do quite often. Same with strangeville. Never go there, never use the gameplay, but use those beautiful victorian building items all the time.
Realms of Magic its way more fun then you think. Sure town itself dont got much to offer, but the spells and potions you can make. Like freeze ppl put them of fire, make clone out of yourself lasting awhile. To make ppl fight, to rob places without getting notis. Make trees and plants. Turn ppl into items. And thats not even half of it. The list is pretty long all you can actully do with it
I don’t know if I’m just missing something but apart from scaring sims with howling I find the Werewolf gameplay to be really dry, like I love that there is a bunch of lore but like with Vampires you can feed, mesmerise, command, and make people sleep nd stuff like that and they can just do much more overall but still Werewolves is pretty detailed and I appreciate that
I'm just going to say this and I know I'm gonna get hate but I LOVE "Journey to Batuu." I use the build assets (especially the flooring) constantly. I love the hairs that came with the pack and some of the kids' and toddlers' clothes are essential to my sims' wardrobes. It also has my favorite debug tree which commonly makes an appearance in my builds. The bonus trait you get with the Batuu aspirations is amazing because it fills your needs when you travel. And I like the gameplay. I don't send my sims to Batuu often, but when I do, I have a lot of fun with it. I'm not a huge Star Wars fan (I'm more or a casual fan of the franchise) but I did have fun with it. The only downside to the pack is that you can't build in Batuu. Other than that, it's one of my favorite game packs. It's also one of the least glitchy packs in the entire game for me.
I actually love realm of magic so much. Jes the builds could be better but the other realm is so cool! And the animations are really well done. There are also a lot of useful spells, I use every day to make my sims life easier.
It’s funny for me, because I love vampires and it’s one of my favourite but I hate anything even remotely related to kids in the sims xD we all have different game style 🖤🖤🖤
I get the feeling like some projects they started (e.g fixing whims but not completely then abandoning them and now we're stuck with wants and fears that we can't cancel that make our sims mood swings impossible to manage without cheats i.e fear of dead end job) we had our first, last and only refresh with Spa Day. I honestly want to be proven wrong so bad on this.
Maybe I'm just used to them from an old cracked game, but Outdoor Retreat and Spa Day are awesome 😭 catching bugs? Can you imagine if they make a patch and you can use bugs in potions in Magic Realm or maybe one day use the beetles to also make makeup/medicine. The little applications are endless! Also wasn't there supposed to be a nail tech thing? I can dream..
i'm discovering that i really love building/designing the most ... maybe there's hope in dream home decorator for me after all... please fix dine out, i wanna make a restaurant🥹 i got spa day on a whim but i'm surprised that i use it in builds all the time. i guess my style is more modern than i thought!
I think it would be cool to see what you would build instead for the realm of magic, I think it would be an interesting video since you've actually made houses for the Sims 4
I love how she has flowers on her top because it looks so funny in contrast with the Christmas tree lol (I’m writing this in the first few seconds so I don’t know if she said anything about it😅)
Yeah I love being an occult sim and hate being a parent on the sims. I love realm of magic. I’m always a witch and now with horse ranch I can’t have a unicorn. So much fun
I think the differences that goes on in anyone's playing style is the autonomous setting on the options menu; so it could be the sims themselves acting up and not the game per say.
Since you've done a ranked list of Kits, Expansion packs and now Game packs, will you be doing one on stuff packs? I'm curious to see how those packs stack against each other in your opinion.
you can resize items (construction items included) you have to click on the keys that are in between the"P"key and the "| \" key; one of them make the object big and the other makes the object small; due to a previous game update the key that make objects big makes the construction objects too big.
OH my GOD!!!!!! I'm watching this video for the first time and Kayla has literally just blown my mind with the underground bunker at the werewolf bar 😭 I got this pack when it first came out and I have just thought this entire time that it was only that tiny trailer on that giant lot 💀💀
The thing about vampires is that I don't care about the occult type, but the build and cas stuff is so great I'd definitely put it high on my list anyway. I like some of Batuu's build stuff, so I want to get it eventually. Just... waiting for a good sale.
I LOOOVE jungle adventure. Coming from someone who LOVED sims 3 world adventures- jungle adventure is prob my 3rd fav game pack. Parenthood being #1, & Dream home decorator as 2
Thank you for the video, it was very informative. I can understand that vampires is in fact not that special when considering other packs or content. I can also understand as a former content creator, staying positive about the game you love so much and maybe having mixed feelings about certain things within it but remaining positive anyways for the sake of your fans and your channel. I'll be waiting for your next video!
This was really great. I don't think we have the same likes at all, but I really got a feel for what was useful or not and what type of gameplay is in each pack! Cheers!
lilsimsie: gets mad at poorly made buildings. Me: builds a colossal cube with a ladder to the ceiling to light the entire thing so I don't have to place lights and then only ever does that.
I'm soo bad about that. I've been trying to add more variation to my Sim builds but I have such a bad habit of making all sorts of lot builds from residential to more rather symmetrical. Maybe not on the inside, but on the outside, I feel like a lot of my houses just end up as come variation of a cube without much flair.
Oh you are such a sweetheart Kayla! I love how you are always so thoughtful and respectful of others’ opinions. It’s just so refreshing in this ridiculous world
They will probably go back and give the old packs a refresh like (hopefully strangerville, Island Living, and completely delete Star wars pack, get to work and Dine out) they did with Spa Day, There’s Hope Everybody ❤
Yes, get rid of Journey... Get to Work is actually nice to have, and could benefit from a refresh. Dine out ? Don't care. Vampires ? Yes, but without the vampire part.
Theres no point in deleting a pack when people have allready Spent there money even if they got a refund they still spent there time Building restraunts Shops and The story so they should just refresh stuff
fr the older ones needs an update bcs like for example... if i want to build with vampires pack like i want those vibes but there is some things missing n some doesnt match n it's bugging me so much😭 like toddler bed, more matching swatches, maybe some flooring AND most important more matching clothes bcs some of them r IMPOSSIBLE to use or just really bad looking or they have swatches that doesnt go with anything😭💀 (n like do something to do weaknesses bcs idk i want to be able to have some way to get rid of them like what i have super cool talented vampire that trained himself out of thi hissing etc...)
I just started playing Sims 4 again after not having touched it much since...2019 or 2020? So this is super helpful to know what I should grab that I missed! Vampires is one of the favorite packs I own so that probably means I have to get werewolves. and maybe the magic one, although spell casters don't appeal to me that much so knowing the world is disappointing is...rough. I also really like the IDEA of Wedding Stories but I don't know if I can handle it bugging out on me...hmm. For reference I'm actually a pretty big Star Wars fan but I dunno if I would actually want to get Batuu. I'm not sure why, since I like occult sim gameplay, but something about having Star Wars cross over with the Sims just feels WEIRD? Like the idea of a sim being able to go to a Star Wars planet just breaks my immersion, even though I'm totally okay with them going to Sixam.
there is a death toggle cheat. But if you want your sim to be playable as a ghost you have to turn the death toggle off and then use one of the trait ghost cheats.
Honestly, I love seeing other people opinions about game packs because, for example, I never use parenthood and it really is a pack that I don't enjoy, but to people like lilsimsie it's an absolute must have and watching this kind of videos makes me want to revisit those packs that I would normally not use
Same, I have parenthood and I use very little of it in my every day gameplay, but everyone keeps saying it's the best and I'm just 😅
Same! If I had to start over with packs, Parenthood would be a skip for me vs like Strangerville is actually one of my all time favorite packs.
I loved the premise of Parenthood, but I find that my sims never have time to do those activities.. or even parent their children 😅
Parenthood also gives a lot of nice items. But if you don't like playing with families it's definitely a rank lower.
Same! I was convinced to buy it because of everyone else but I haven’t noticed it impacting my gameplay in any major way

Honestly, the realm of magic pack is fantastic! Builds are so easy to replace so I don’t feel like that should be a factor in deciding what’s a good pack or not
yes
Since the base game is free now a lot of brand new players may not know that the lots can be replaced so I think its fair to have *some* weight attached to the quality of the pre built lots
I’m a builder so having bad ea builds incentivizes building.
I still feel like the gameplay could be better still
simsie calling the vampires pack her favorite build pack (when she rarely uses it cuz she only builds blue suburbans) is the biggest lie of 2022 😂😂
why does she do that o.o
Initially I thought she meant out of the game packs but I feel like that’d still be parenthood so idk lmaoo
I think putting Wedding Stories on Pretty Good was much bigger lie here.
@@mjm3091 NO FR like she complains about it all the time and is like "yeah guys you should buy this completely bugged game" xD
Uuuuh, I'll take note! Good idea!
Such a great idea!
I’m emo but I’m ok w cc , you can find a lot of goth emo punk stuff in cc
@@Nirax3 pretty much Idw werewolves but want some of the clothes so just get the cc conversions
@@Nirax3 the fashion in werewolves is much closer to being grunge
omg yes i was literally squealing when i saw the trad goth makeup and all the cool gothic style architecture
I'd love to see your tier lists for woohoo spots and death types. Lol
Its the first time that i see someone with my exact name and last name 😭
@@fraisier3710 thats kinda scary haha
@@fraisier3710omg SUSanna ZIMMERSON do u remember me from elementary?!? 😯😯
and today my darling, the video exist for woohoo spots!!
Same lol
Same. We just need to understand that Kayak likes bland, boring gameplay lol and it's okay
can’t say i fully agree with it, but i certainly respect it
I love strangerville, and I wish we had more storytelling packs like it! But because everyone “hates” the pack, we’re just stuck with more of the same packs rather than anything different
I love the world
semi-irrelevant comment: I wish they had made tiny living and eco lifestyle into one game or expansion pack.
@@catsareawesome791why are you saving up? it’s fr ten dollars
I'm getting the feeling Kayla's ideal release would be a window kit.
I just got jungle adventure and I already had OR, thanks for the tips though! I may try this today.
I am constantly making my Sims archeologists and/or treasure hunters too
I don't have either pack. Can't you take a sleeping bag (from growing together) and do the same thing or?
Batuu holds a special place in my heart, my family was supposed to go to Disneyland Halloween time of 2021, we were ready to leav in like 3 days, when my dad got COVID. I was really bummed out because I was supposed to go make a droid at Star Wars land, so my mom bought me this pack to cheer me up. It was so sweet of her 😊
you are the only player in Baatu 😂😂😂
That's so sweet of your mother, I had covid before and it was awful, at least I was vaccinated
I love this story! I'm so glad you had fun with it! I'm considering getting it at some point
Yeah!
The houses look like a infant did drugs and tried to design a house which i love
Yeah like for the house without stuff inside I think the family moved out for some mysterious reason
lol yep
The speed at which simsie gets likes is actually crazy, I remember when she was much less well known! So happy to see her keep growing ❤
Back when she talked at the speed of light and would rant about susans and we didn’t know what she looked like, she was so small and young, LOOK AT HER NOW 🥹
She’s freekin married like waaaahhh
my favorite is watching her subs go up! it makes me happy seeing her grow into who she is now! she has a beautiful home and husband! crazy!
Spa day is the first pack I’ve purchased for my sims game, I use it legit in very game with all my sims being super proficient in yoga 😅 Love seeing other players opinions on this! ♥️
Same! I love spa day! I like to have buildings that are half gym / half spa and all my sims have the wellness skill
I'm hoping EA will follow through with their supposed promise of giving us pack refreshes, Vampires refreshed would be so amazing specifically beyond so many of the others of course. Still hoping!
yes a vampires refresh would be a sims 4 cultural reset because its already great :D
For me i think Island living needs a refresh first, Needs serious refresh for real
The planters are great.
the firepit and horseshoes are great gameplay too
I personally love the CAS in all the occult packs, but by far my favorite game pack has to be Jungle Adventure.
Its also great for historical builds, im a history and archaeology nerd as well
I always forget parenthood is a game pack it just blend in by how regular activities
IMO outdoor retreat is worth the price for the "incredibly friendly" trait which makes completing social aspirations so much easier.
If you're not on console you can download traits instead of spending $20
I'm just starting my sims 4 journey and I love realm of magic! I pair it a lot with the paranormal pack and I think they work so well together. I love videos like these
dream home decorator build items feels like cc to me and honestly i literally use half to almost all items everytime i play it’s amazing.
I personally think that the "bad builds" don't really matter. Most people just replace them with a better one from the gallery.
me too! I like to consider these packs in all the ways that don't involve the builds since I know plenty of people out there have made better ones on the gallery
i think it just feels lazy. especially when game packs are $20, you’d think you’d at least get a fully furnished house
Like, she always prioritizes realistic gameplay and build mode while I absolutely love using CAS, making occults, and coming up with overly fantasized storylines for my Sims, and I still manage to thoroughly enjoy watching her content every single day 😂
Not to mention-Simsie loves new deaths while I take every necessary precaution to prevent any of my Sims from dying 😶
I absolutely adore you and your content, Kayla!! ❤
I feel the same! I'm ride or die for Strangerville and hate things like Parenthood, but I still love Kayla's content! It's always fun to see how other people play 🙂
my legacy founders are a werewolf and a mermaid and it took her NINE GENERATIONS to get a vampire! i love how different her play style is from mine. gives a sense of balance to see the dream life vs occult lover players
jungle adventure is my number one. i have never been to selvadorada, but it’s worth every penny for the wood floor, the fridge, and the vixella mirror
I would really like it if I could live in the world! Because honestly it’s so pretty and cool (and there’s literally nothing else like it in the game). I wish we could go there without having to be on holiday (but one time a sim invited me to a plot there for a party lol which was fun)
I use the vixella mirror SO much! And theres one indoor plant i use too, its amazing
@@billy_romeo have heard of it but how often do u have to update with the mod?
I love doing rags to riches where my sim is a massage therapist and essentially starts her own business that way
the yoga feature of the spa day pack is also a selling point for me bc yoga reaches a specific community
Maybe I am biased as I got werewolves right after it came out but I literally have to play with occults in my game
honestly i love all the occult packs, i think they are the best 💗 although family themed game packs are my second favourite!
LOL.
I use the laptops from Strangerville more than anything else in that pack - because I like the colour options more than the ones in University.
and isn't it cheaper, too?
And the only laptop in the base game you have to unlock in level 5 of the writing career. I just cheat for it everytime because I can’t be bothered
Realm of magic is my absolute favorite for gameplay. I’m more of a gameplay player than a builder and I love the idea of learning new spells and making potions. Totally respect your opinion but for those who love occult gameplay, this is my all time favorite pack
Kayla at 17:55 “you come her to use all the magic stuff”
she clicked on the cauldron and all the magic we got was…
Make Mac and cheese (£18) 😂
I saw that too XD
RoM and Strangerville are def. bops for me, not flops. They're so much fun and diverse, speaking in gameplay-sense. I couldn't care less about teaching kids being responsible and whatnot, but give me fun and exciting sims with adventure and i'll play forever
just got bundle today! Cats and dogs parenthood and tiny living!!
great choices
are u happy with them?
I buy the ones that have functions or gameplay elements that I want the most.
I love sending my Sim’s to the Star Wars area. They go on vacation and bring back souvenirs. I never really thought about the magic house being terrible I guess cause I never really look at it with all the walls up I just go and play in it. 🤣
I know it's plain but I really feel like it's not that bad personally!
The equivalent of taking a trip to a Disney theme park. XD
I've been getting back into the Sims 4 and found your videos. My sister and I have loved these games since mother bought the original game (along with our first home computer) when we were kids around 2003. I enjoy these tier list vids, it helps me when deciding what packs and expansions I'll try next.
I like the Realm of Magic pack because, like to use the teleport spell and the repair spell.
I love Batuu, but not so much for the gameplay. It’s the B&B and CAS items that I love. Especially the flowers!! But I’m also a Star Wars fan.
I'm making my own list based on my preferences with the descriptions you gave, just got sims 4 but have played it on my sister's account before on her device, thank you for these videos
jungle adventure is one of my favourites purely for the cas and build items, I just adore the aesthetic
Personally in this order:
- Werewolves, Dream Decorator, Vampires, Parenthood are must have.
- good, but not needed: Jungle Adventure, Spa Day, Outdoor Retreat, Realm of Magic.
- ok, but need improvements or fixes: Dine Out, Strangeville
- skip, until fixed: Batuu, Wedding Stories.
Kinda like with Discover University in last video.
strangerville tried to do 4/5 different styles. beautiful old stuff (doors), trailer park, military, science, and that random jukebox
My play style focuses heavily on families (growing together is actually the only DLC I've pre-ordered for any game ever) and I very rarely have an all-human family. My occult ranking from best to worst:
So, maybe it's not that bad, it's just faster to start playing :D
Two weird houses in the world and that pulls the ranking down? Just delete the house as soon you move in and the problem's gone :D :D
You can also buy the house “unfurnished” so you dont have to remove all the items it will be that way automatically
I had a snobby Sim and created a "Self Care" Get Together club where we met at the Spa and got points for doing spa activities and working out. It honestly changed the Spa Day pack for me, suddenly it was a really unique way to hangout and get fit.
How do you make a club??
@@OliviaDawodu-fz1rl You need the Get Together expansion pack 🙂
I hate outdoor retreat. I didn’t know it was a vacation world and i begged by parents for it when i asked for sims. I thought i was a playable world that isn’t vacation and I was sad. But its def fun if its like a story mode, I’ve used it for “honeymoons” after having sims get married
I kinds like the builds in strangerville. Because they’re rlly weird, and it adds to the weird theme of the gp
I think I only ever use Batu for build items. I never take my sims there, but it has some items I always use when I play with spellcasters and/or when I build cottages, which I do quite often. Same with strangeville. Never go there, never use the gameplay, but use those beautiful victorian building items all the time.
same!
It’s funny for me, because I love vampires and it’s one of my favourite but I hate anything even remotely related to kids in the sims xD we all have different game style 🖤🖤🖤
i hope they do more refreshes for packs like they did for spa day
I get the feeling like some projects they started (e.g fixing whims but not completely then abandoning them and now we're stuck with wants and fears that we can't cancel that make our sims mood swings impossible to manage without cheats i.e fear of dead end job) we had our first, last and only refresh with Spa Day.
I can dream..
i'm discovering that i really love building/designing the most ... maybe there's hope in dream home decorator for me after all... please fix dine out, i wanna make a restaurant🥹
i got spa day on a whim but i'm surprised that i use it in builds all the time. i guess my style is more modern than i thought!
I think it would be cool to see what you would build instead for the realm of magic, I think it would be an interesting video since you've actually made houses for the Sims 4
Sims is definitely getting better, they’re releasing better packs and putting more detail into them. So yeah I’ll give sims that 👍🏽
I love how she has flowers on her top because it looks so funny in contrast with the Christmas tree lol
(I’m writing this in the first few seconds so I don’t know if she said anything about it😅)
ur right abt everything HOWEVER jungle adventure furniture is S tier and i feel it should have been mentioned
Dude the Dine Out hair with the clips is probably my fave hair in the game - worth 20 for that hair alone IMO
Love Strangerville and the world is stunning!
Since you've done a ranked list of Kits, Expansion packs and now Game packs, will you be doing one on stuff packs? I'm curious to see how those packs stack against each other in your opinion.
True story, I got Spa Day exclusively for the Sauna. That's it, that's the entire reason I bought it.
you can resize items (construction items included) you have to click on the keys that are in between the"P"key and the "| \" key; one of them make the object big and the other makes the object small; due to a previous game update the key that make objects big makes the construction objects too big.
OH my GOD!!!!!! I'm watching this video for the first time and Kayla has literally just blown my mind with the underground bunker at the werewolf bar 😭 I got this pack when it first came out and I have just thought this entire time that it was only that tiny trailer on that giant lot 💀💀
I love using spa day and I often gravitate towards the wellness skill. I have to have a spa in every world
The thing about vampires is that I don't care about the occult type, but the build and cas stuff is so great I'd definitely put it high on my list anyway.
Sometimes I feel like the only Spa Day fan. My sims do yoga all the time and I find the incense and bath soaks really useful for moodlets.
no you’re not alone! i love that pack. i use it a lot for my pregnant sims too. i spoil them with manicures and massages🤣
This was really great. I don't think we have the same likes at all, but I really got a feel for what was useful or not and what type of gameplay is in each pack! Cheers!
I like strangerville, reminds me to the sims 2 strangetown
lilsimsie: gets mad at poorly made buildings.
It’s just so refreshing in this ridiculous world
I brought the star war pack just for build items and cas items. The build items I am using for my firfly/serenity save.
ive been waiting for your videos each day imma need u to upload a video every hour😭😭😭 love you simsie❤️
“This is really niche”
She says while talking about Star Wars, arguably the most famous media franchise of all time …
They will probably go back and give the old packs a refresh like (hopefully strangerville, Island Living, and completely delete Star wars pack, get to work and Dine out) they did with Spa Day, There’s Hope Everybody ❤
Yes, get rid of Journey... Get to Work is actually nice to have, and could benefit from a refresh. Dine out ? Don't care.
Vampires ? Yes, but without the vampire part.
I still havent visited Batuu and surely won't xD Dating Kylo Ren? No thanks XD
i’ll buy dine out even it’s not buggy 🎉
Theres no point in deleting a pack when people have allready Spent there money even if they got a refund they still spent there time Building restraunts Shops and The story so they should just refresh stuff
Build challenge: make a house only using meh and not for me packs!
fr the older ones needs an update bcs like for example... if i want to build with vampires pack like i want those vibes but there is some things missing n some doesnt match n it's bugging me so much😭
like toddler bed, more matching swatches, maybe some flooring AND most important more matching clothes bcs some of them r IMPOSSIBLE to use or just really bad looking or they have swatches that doesnt go with anything😭💀
(n like do something to do weaknesses bcs idk i want to be able to have some way to get rid of them like what i have super cool talented vampire that trained himself out of thi hissing etc...)
Vampires is my favourite game pack just on build stuff. My build style is Victorian and Tudor style
I.... This is the first time I watch you and it really throws me off, that you barely ever blink and just cut it out
Woah just noticed
This is your first tier list that I actually completely agree with😂❤️
there is a death toggle cheat. But if you want your sim to be playable as a ghost you have to turn the death toggle off and then use one of the trait ghost cheats.
