I normally don't agree with the 'this should be base game' crowd but honestly, this is the first pack I felt nearly everything should be in the base game. The milestones, relationships and quirks are all quite important and would have been a huge quality of life update.
Yeah agree. It's a mixed bag for me. On one hand I know companies need to make money, but life stages and weather do really seem base game.
Maybe it's their track record that makes it feel skeevier than it really is. I'm not sure
In fact, infants are pretty much useless without the pack, there is no changing table nor toys in base game so they are basically a more dependant version of toodlers
@@wordydird EA doesnt need more money though. they have so much money from sims ALONE, not to mention the other extremely successful game franchises they have like fifa, dead space, and battlefield just to name a few.
@@wordydird I think for me it's a question of whether something is in the core gameplay loop. I've added an infant to my household and honestly without the pack, they feel just like nerfed toddlers. I think they won't feel like infants until I get the milestones. I pre-ordered the pack because I really do feel like I need these features since I almost exclusively play as families. Sims 4 packs exceeded £1000 in total about 4 stuff packs ago so I'm less sympathetic about the whole money argument. I would feel really disappointed with the infant update if I didn't know I was getting the pack in 3 days and that makes me sad for the people who can't afford the pack.
seriously. In AUD I have to pay 50 dollars just to have some milestones and quirks and stuff? When mods have had things like this for ages for FREE? I understand now its affects the gameplay more, but I do not understand why its an expansion pack instead of a game pack like parent hood at the very least. If they wanted to bank off of generations nostalgia why not just make a generations in the sims 4? why name it "growing together" why make it 50 dollars and have half of what generations provided from the looks of it. I don't know how to feel.
Maybe I’m being a little greedy, but this would have been a perfect pack for an interactive daycare career.
Yes omg that would have been awesome
Sims 3 has that now!!
@@stasthebosssauce yes! I love the sims 3 version :) I used to play with it a lot. Hopefully they’ll incorporate it into the sims 4 one day too!
@@alliem2858 I think the quote was “ The only thing wrong with the Sims four is that the Sims three exists” lol 😂
Not at all. If they made the milestones and family dynamics etc base game (as I think they should’ve) then this would’ve been the perfect opportunity.
"convincing kids to buy a bad pack"
me here at almost 32 so excited to hear her review 😂
36 and same
@The Aussie Family I’m 42 and someone was surprised I still play. I was like “Sweetie… who do you think has the money for all these packs? Grown ppl with jobs.” 😂
A kid of 33 here
I'd buy the pack if I could, but I'm broke and have no job (not counting babysitting for my mom)
Me too😂 36 played from Sims 1 and still going strong lol
Ooh I'd love to see a "hates children" sim go from that to a family oriented one. Definitely adds fun character development
Same!, it's so much better.
Yes! I wanted my sims to date Sergio but he hates kids 😂😂😂😂 so I said nope!
Lol my first thought was Lily Feng from City Living 😅
Or reverse maybe?
That literal scenario just happened to my sim!!
I hope they would give us the ability to visit elderly parents on thanksgiving and cook a meal for everyone without them telling it is ”inappropriate” 😅
yeah, I always end up giving my sims the "always welcome" reward perk so they don't get in trouble cooking at their boyfriend's house etc
THIS. i have seasons and whenever a moved out sims goes to their family home to cook a grand meal for thanksgiving they get kicked out 😭😭
@@elegarrodmorris it is so sad 😭😭😭breaks my heart every time
@@Shayoni yea same!!!
Yes! In a stranger's house I totally understand, but in the house of a good friend, love interest or family it should be an option I wouldn't mind if my bestie would cook a Thanksgiving meal for me!
1-Seasons
2-Growing together
i personally think they should've been a base game update thats why they are the best packs
I think parenthood should have been apart of growing together
I still find it insane that seasons, different ages and animals aren't part of the base game 🙃🙃🙃
@@SeaStarsLights absolutely insane
It’s been like that for all sims games, sims 2 & sims 3 are like that too. but yeah the infant update is kinda useless without growing together 😭
@@SeaStarsLights i think that cats and dogs is a really cool idea for a pack, seasons should be BG though but cats and dogs as an expansion makes sense to me.
For anyone curious, there’s 4896 combinations of quirks for both infants and tots
I SMELL A CHALLENGE
that’s a lot. how do u know?
@@sunflower7874 lol math
@@sunflower7874 theres an easy formula for probabilities that lets you count the amount of possible results, and i think they used it for this
i was hoping someone would count this
I don’t think it’s a bad pack, it just has 80% of the infant interactions locked away behind a paywall
Edit: I even said the pack wasn’t bad and y’all still mad cause I said what I said 👀💀🍵
If I was truly complaining I wouldn’t have said it was good, all I said was infants are boring in base game cause they are. Toddlers had no issue having base game skills sooo your point. I said what I said
True I find it awkward and hard to find stuff to entertain the infant 🙃
The fact that there's no changing table in the game at all without buying the pack is one of the things that sends up red flags for me.
Yeah let's be honest, there had to be some kind of catch with EA adding infants for free. I was immediately suspicious when I saw how close together the update and pack were.
It's like they've just added free infants as a teaser to put more pressure on people to get the pack or something
......Noooot saying that's what they're doing of course haha.
@@xaveir9419 has there been a few new items for base game?
@@magicalgirlmel3289 there's no changing table even though the Base game update included infants?
Seasons, parenthood and growing together should’ve been in the base game, that’s why they’re so good. If I look at packs that aren’t necessary and they’re still great, then Cottage Living is the #1
The people at ea wouldn't get paid to work there if all packs were free or combined
do y'all really expect everything to just be free lmao
@@mcre314 i agree with you. You're smart. The company couldn't have survived unless they got paid for the expansions they made they had to break it up in a certain way so they would get paid like everybody else
@@lisamccall3037 Imagining EA falling apart is so laughable. Pirate from EA
@@Hotaruflash omg so real
the infants being able to NAP in your ARMS in the base game makes everything okay for me, that is the cutest feature
Ngl, that made me sigh of relief. Thank you so much for this info!
THE EXTENDED STAY FOR LONG DISTANT RELATIONSHIPS?!? Imagine your childhood best friend lives Mt Kom and your boyfriend lives in somewhere else?! I love you can use it so many ways.
Like you go on vacation and meet the love of your life and they come stay for a week and you realize you hate living together?!!!
@@zoeelovee2 OMG THE STORYLINE IDEA?????? i loved the concept
yessss i'm soo excited for this! The only thing that is missing is us being able to stay over at someone else's house!
Just like real life
wait i'm in an ldr this sounds so cute 😭
Obsessed that the sims team thinks everyone goes through a household fire at least once in their life. Explains a lot
What makes this even better for me is that the only house fires I went through as a kid were the ones that happened in the sims
Well, I went through three and a flood in real life so I don’t know about anyone else, but that first one is a mile stone lol
Underrated comment
Ironically I believe that a fire started by accident in the household the sims team was using to show off the pack in a livestream
During an interview with the sims:
“What was the worst part of your early childhood house fire?”
“Excuse me??”
“Sorry- ANYY housefire.”
“Umm…”
“Like, you know, when you’re house is on fire and everyone stands in the fire and freaks out. What did you learn from that?”
“I didn’t- I-um- we never had a-“
*simsie enters*
“I LEARNED TO ALWAS HAVE ASMOKE DECTECTOR”
I think things like changing tables should have been base game and then the pack have us more. Either way I’m buying it so it doesn’t matter for me but I feel bad for those who don’t have the pack
I've been getting annoyed with people complaining that this pack should be base game, but I do agree there should definitely be a changing table in the base game.
kinda glad they're not base game because it seems like you HAVE to use it to change diapers, and that sounds like it would be a great way to make it glitch
I don't mind changing tables not being in the base game since you don't actually need them to complete the interaction but at least give the poor neat sims a diaper pail in base game (or make trash cans placed in the same room work for diapers) so they're not immediately surrounded by dirty diapers. The novelty of that wore off after about two minutes.
@@suveva no you only have to use it if you have it placed in your house, like laundry
@@spiritedsamph yeah I agree, or at least put the diapers in inventory and not straight on the ground. Like you said the funny novelty wore off pretty quickly.
Crazy that learning to crawl is part of the expansion, when the baby my Sim popped out, solely to try babies without the EP, was immediately able to crawl to a dresser and look at things. I'm not always on the "this should have been base game" train but for this pack I am.
Infants and the interactions with them should have been incredibly complex to make. The base game is free, but the time spend on developing them isn't. It's perfectly fine to put them in base game for people who don't have the money, or just won't enjoy the "learning" process in infants. A lot of people get bored of those types of interaction, that's the main reason they age up babies and toddlers immediately, it's just not fun for them 🤷🏼♀️ I love family gameplay but not all do (as strange as those people may sound to us 🤣)
@@veronikayankova6548
I would agree with this if the cost for the expansion wasn't the price of a whole game. If you look at big games like minecraft who are able to give their players whole updates for free, everytime, and only ask you to pay for nonessential things like skins, there's not much of a reason a company like EA couldn't give us more affordable pricing. That's my feeling on it.
Right! Toddler development is not locked behind an expansion pack. You have to teach toddlers how to walk, how to talk and potty train them in the base game. It’s really odd that they didn’t release infants with all of their developmental features. It would make sense for the base game to have one crib, one changing table, one play mat for toddlers. The expansion should have just included more cosmetic options.
@@spaghettimac63 Exactly. I don't expect them to have everything in base game, like a baby shower? Sure that sounds like expansion pack material. But basic baby functions seem like they should have been base game.
@@veronikayankova6548 family gameplay personally is not my thing. I understand how some people like it though. My kids dad was a vampire he was eating with his son at a restaurant I built In the cottage living town on top of the big hill. I put for him to go home but I didn't realize the loading screen didn't triger till he ran so far. He burned in the sun running through the peacefull meadows. His son never went back home after his dad died. He became a homeless kid who slept in a sleeping bag outside the restaurant. He spent his days singing karaoke at the restaurant and stealing customers fish pies and spent his nights looking for his dad's ghost in the forest his dad died in. So if your woundering what us non toddler focused simers do it's somthing along those lines 😂
My only complaint is that they didn’t change the babysitting job to be an active job. Like where you can go with your Sim and babysit other people’s babies because that would’ve put this pack over the top
Kayla making THE blue suburban for the pack is honestly iconic
no it is not
@lizdubyak2538 why even watch her videos to hate?
@@lizdubyak2538 yes it is
There was actually another blue suburban made by someone else lol but still iconic
I’m so happy for her lol
I also like the Filipino references that they included in this pack with the premade Sim names. I love that the creative team is very inclusive ❤️ San Sequoia sounds like 'Saan si Kuya?' in Tagalog which means "Where's my Brother?" which is somehow related to the theme of the pack 😊
That’s adorable!
Actually the How old is based off San Francisco
@@sophiesims-vu8fl that has nothing to do with what they said
That is brilliant!! This just made me love the pack so much more
@@sophiesims-vu8fl you're right, the world is based in San Francisco. I'm just delighted that although it's based from an American city/suburb, the creative team still incorporates names from other nationalities. As for representation, I guess, the closest world that us Filipinos can relate to is Sulani and there's also a Filipino food stall featured in City Living. I'm just happy that as the game progresses, it's becoming more and more inclusive ❤️
Since apparently you can also create puzzles by taking pictures, I really hope to see a "Can you get rich with puzzles?" with Stanley! 🤩
the definition of ask and you shall receive!!
@@heyitsdeniz Yeah!!! 😜✌️
Stanley can get rich from everything. Sometimes fast, sometimes slow and sometimes very slow, but rich he gets!
Or dead, whatever comes first 😆
The stay over event is just what I needed!! Finally my guest room builds will actually be useful!
Oh yeah! I didn’t even think about that!
That’s a really good idea
What I used to do was use a cheat to add them to my family and then I add them after the next day
80 simoleans for a tooth, wow! Inflation hit the tooth ferry hard I was getting $2-5 and a sticker as a kid lol.
You got $5? I got a quarter
@@Gallifreyanqueen europeans don't really do the tooth fairy stuff so you still got more than me :)
I got a handwritten letter 😢
I stopped getting money as soon as they decided I was too old for it 🙃
I got debt because I had to have them removed because they were still fully attached well past my childhood
That awkward moodlet from eating together with dad is so real
I can never buy a pack without knowing Simsie's opinion first.
For me Simsie and Satch on Sims (but this is a simsie video so lol)
Lol same😂
Same 😂
Same bro 😂
Lol
One thing the could have added for teens was the ability for you to hire a teen babysitter when the parents go on a date or something and the option for your teen to travel to another lot to take a babysitting jobs
Right that should’ve been added to “get to work” too
I actually think the compatibility system for this looks better than what was in the Sims 3. In the Sims 3 it worked based on traits but the problem with that is that your Sim basically only got along with Sims that were copies of themselves; with this new system being based on likes & dislikes it seems like we'll be able to have more complex relationships & can have "opposite" Sims that get along because of their preferences, not just their traits
yesss!!!!
I agree! I know there is an “opposites attract” sentiment already but I’m looking forward to building preferences through a sim’s lifetime instead of just in CAS
@@AKA_Studios Sentiments isn't chemistry system, it's rather friendship compatibility. So it's not useful for dating.
I'm really excited for this pack since I love to play with families. I like the world and the items that are featured in the pack. My only gripe is that I wish they could have added more fishing and swimming areas in the world considering that it's a fishing village. Also, this could have been the perfect opportunity to add walking canes, strollers, retirement homes and the daycare career. Thanks Kayla for this review ❤️
I didn’t even think about the daycare career 😭 I know the pack has a lot but I wish it had a bit more. Feels like a lot of features should have been base game and other features were passed over in favor of locking the parts everyone should have behind a paywall 😕
@@saulshellokittyphoneI somehow agree with you. I like what Growing Together has to offer. This is definitely one of the top-tier packs of TS4 because of its content compared to some earlier packs. But if we compare this with the content of the EPs of TS3, it kinda fell short. Still, I'm positive that TS4 can still be improved since as per EA, they still have a lot in their bag.
@@eizthetics2693 It's just frustrating because EA has at this point spent more time on Sims 4 than Sims 2 or Sims 3, but the former two feel fuller, for lack of a better term.
@@danaroth598 I agree, that's why I still go back to TS2 and TS3 from time to time. I like TS4's art style but tbh, without mods, I easily get bored playing TS4
I really think these will be modded soon. I think this pack will be modded a lot. Looking forward to it
My infant already broke and had the stretchy bug. He's fine btw all alive and well living life trying new foods.
omg yeah mine kept glitching too, the eyes were bugging out and would only be vampire eye colours? despite being human? very weird.
@@angelicRem if you have cc eyes or the default eye replacements then it would cause the toddlers to have crazy eyes. It’s because of the mods being broken due to the update!
Omg mine had stretchy legs too. 😂
Mine has stretchy legs too, and Its so annoying!!
Stretchy legs here too 🥲
Sounds like there's finally a use for having a guest room
You are absolutely correct about the pack being the offer half of infants. I was shocked when I figured out all those things were locked behind a paywall.
I love how Kayla is like "my sims had a miserable time so I really enjoyed it"
I wonder if you got the ambitious trait not because you hit level 2 in the business career, but that you hit the next level of the job so quickly because you bumped yourself up with cheats.
your most likely right
maybe it’s like “getting a promotion within a day”
Love the new update and am excited to play with the pack. But one feature I'm really missing in my game is photo albums! I feel like this new pack was the perfect opportunity to allow us to create albums filled with photos of milestones and interactions that Sims could flick through.
Sims 3 Generations video camera 😭😭
Kayla: I love family based gameplay it's my favorite!!
Also Kayla:
*teleports her toddlers up and down the stairs*
*imprisons toddlers to not have to take care of them*
*cheats up their needs*
Does anyone know if they are planning on fixing the constant pop ups from sims wanting to be best friends or get married right after you meet them? I’m tired of sims spawning inside my house to do this!
There were no HSY specific bug fixes in this patch, sadly. I'm hoping that it's on the next laundry list as it's probably the most annoying thing in the game right now. They did tune the ask for baby phone call to be less frequent, so that's something. Maybe my sim's elderly parents will stop phoning them every day to ask about a baby now, lol.
there's a toggle under pack settings: HSY to turn that off.
Me too. It happened
But really i wished that they can do dishes or trashcan or else
I love the new trait system thing. Imagine you have an evil sim who is cruel and hates children, but eventually they meet someone, or they adopt a child and then they change as a person. Like Simsie said, character development is perfect for this type of game! Or if you have a deadbeat parent and then they eventually change and love their children more or if they are non-committal, they could become more committing to their family or partner.
That only reveals the problem with traits in the sims 4. Traits do not affect gameplay, so they actually act as labels for your own playstyle.
I've just had a Sim stay in one marriage and at one job for his whole life while he is non commital. He was happy the whole way through.
@@marinarudneva8319 yeah i agree, the traits never affect gameplay. My non committal Sims do that too
@alissa 💗 if you play with mods, one mod I would recommend to help with that is have some personality please by polarbearsims it gets rid of idle chat so sims will automously do interaction based on their traits and mood, also since idle chat is removed they'll gain and lose relationship points including npcs
i’m blown away by how good this pack sounds AND it’s not broken?? might be the first time I buy a pack new..
well, shes not showing how glitchy it is (in my opinion)
@@bluebosnian or it wasn’t glitchy for her??
I don’t even have the pack and the infants are bugging. There’s floating bottles everywhere, and when I put my baby to sleep in the crib somehow it glitched on the ground. And for feeding, I had my baby try the Pumkin food and then when I go to try another food it says she didn’t try it??. ALSO the dirty diapers on the ground are annoying as well
@@Berries.creamm the bottles being on the ground and diapers being on the ground is similar to sims 2. i’m guessing you haven’t played sims 2 ?
@@hqsteez no I haven’t, lol. I have only played sims 4, sims freeplay and sims mobile
I remember having memories in the sims 2. I loved it. When you loaded a new save all the townies already had memories and man some were very spicy. I loved the drama they already had 😂
aw sims 2 .... so nostalgic. But I can;t play it anymore after I was forced to update Origin to EA :(
You've been nothing but honest always, and it's one of many reasons why you're loved as a content creator. :)
I agree!
i love how she’s not afraid to call them out when there’s something she thinks isn’t fair despite it mostly having no effect on her! she’s great :)
Sadly a lot of people seem to think she's dishonest just because of her optimism.
Its not necessarily about honesty or dishonesty...yet there is such a thing as not covering things, minimizing, side stepping, or downplaying the truth/reality, which is something to be wary of given her sway over her audience/supporters who she ought to have first loyalty to for their benefit and not a giant corporation that consistently releases broken and overpriced DLC and mediocre, empty content for a supposed life simulator
@@dear_totheheart where is she doing any of these things? She’s criticized it plenty. Even as far as not recommending a pack like the wedding one when it first came out because it was so broken. Stop seeing optimism and positivity as dishonesty or “minimizing” just because she doesn’t trash the game she loves 24/7
We need a supermarket pack. Imagine pushing the babies in a trolley, buying your own food or being able to work there part time
and maybe own and run your own supermarket too
@@veronicablack2533 right!! Just like the vet clinics
@@veronicablack2533you can in a way you can build a shop that looks like a supermarket with open for business and sell fruits and veggies

I always wanted this one thing for the sims where they randomly choose a recipe and make it a 'family recipe' and you can have an option of your sims teaching their teen sims on how to cook and it would be unlocked for the sim regardless of skill and it would grant a moodlet when you eat it, so in some cases the family recipe could be a blackened bass and for others it could be mac and cheese
Desperately needed the vid - I've been trying to decide whether to get Growing Together or High School Years so thanks Simsie!!! Love hearing your opinion :)
I’m stuck as well, what did you decide?
definitely get this new pack, highschool years is still kinda broken and mostly only applies to teenagers while it looks like this new pack is going in-depth and can connect with all of the life stages
i would say the only think i really use in HSY is thrifttea, the social bunny app is really repetitive and the highschool built isn’t great unless you replace it with one in the gallery. there’s no sport games so if you’re a cheerleader you just practice. that’s just my opinion tho :)
i def think growing together is more useful in the long run than highschool years - i always forget about prom and atp i don’t even wanna go because i have other stuff going on, prom is also buggy like kayla says, the highschool isn’t great and is also kinda buggy sometimes and the pack is essentially irrelevant once your sim ages up into an adult.. i’d definitely go for growing together in that case :D
According to simsie herself she seems to prefer this over high school years in at least gameplay, but it’s ultimately up to you. I hear highschool years is still kinda buggy, but if you really want that experience then you’d probably enjoy it
I always love your reviews! This pack seems like an awesome buy. I can't help but feel like all these features should just be included in the base game, just like it feels like Seasons should be... Included in the base game. It's a bit strange that pretty basic life sim features are locked behind a paywall on a game that is one of the only life sims on the market....
Yeah, but I understand seasons, cats and dogs and growing up since those things have always been dlc. However, I feel like Parenthood and Highschool years should be bundled (by that I mean combined) with growing up. Vampires, werewolves and realm of magic should’ve been combined into Supernatural. Seasons and Cats and dogs could’ve been combined. Idk
@@snuggs930 yeah it def feels weird that there's no teenage additions in this pack. It kind of seems obvious that they made these packs to be complimentary.... I can't help but feel like EA is trying to space the features out to get as many people to buy as many packs as possible.... I'm not opposed to the DLC model, but it feels like it's being used as merely a vessel to get as much money as possible....
@@snuggs930 To be fair with the occult packs, previous games have had a supernatural pack and the different occults haven’t been as in depth as the individual packs from S4, but yeah some of them feel like they could be bundled or different features of one pack split between one or two where it makes sense
I am waiting to buy it until it comes out and we get the full bugs list and how well it works. It definitely looks interesting and I love family gameplay, but I'm gonna wait.

Oh my god that’s my siblings 😂 I’m the middle one and the youngest and oldest won’t talk to each other so I have to be the mediator always. They moved to basically opposite sides of the country 😂 they won’t come home for the holidays unless the other is busy, or like one will come the weekend before Christmas and the other will come the weekend after. It’s such a mess.
Ooooooo. Sounds dramatic
We actually used to have basically the milestone/memory system in sims 2! It was like basically the same just without the learning milestones
Lol I feel like people's opinions of this pack in general will be shaped by whether they played a lot of Sims 2 or 3. It would be a more exciting pack to me if I wasn't comparing it with Sims 3's Generations.

As someone who only had sims freeplay when I was younger, I can confirm
@@danaroth598 it's hard to get hyped for this when I can go play the Sims 2 and already have it, plus the rest of the game, for free. It feels like they are reselling old stuff but without the core of what made it good.
@@Schnort In fairness, it does sound like they've made some refinements to the milestones feature that, if they work properly (big if) could make it a cool evolution of Sims 2 memories. It's really more, like, is it worth having to spend so much money for an evolved version of a previously base game feature?
Yay, now we can swap Bob and Eliza's traits to good ones and maybe it can be like they went to couple's counseling or something...
i would recommend lumpinou relationship wellness mod if you’re searching for an in depth relationship between romantic and pregnant sims:))
How fun wouldn’t it be if the sims developers could surprise us some times in between with new playable lots in some of the worlds? Like a fresh update? 🏠
I love the extra discoverable traits. I made a little family specifically for this pack, and will be my first generational sims, and both my parents discovered that they're family oriented. It's been intense because I also just got university and both my parents are in university and trying to navigate being parents to a toddler and an infant while going to uni full time.

YES i preordered it yesterday and i’m so relieved to hear she loved it !!
SAME I WAS AFRAID ITLL BE A BAD REVIEW AND I CANT GET MY MONEY BACK LOL
I pre-ordered it on my birthday since it was an advantage coz my mum wouldn't have let me get a $50 pack just any other day so I'm glad Kayla liked the pack but even if she didn't I would've liked it anyways because family gameplay is my style. I'm also just collecting packs just to say that I have them
She’s the reason I preordered had to see her build 😊
Ever since MWS I wait for the streamers to review and show some footage before I purchase.
I just lost my sweet baby dog. He was going to turn 10 this year and I honestly can't imagine my life without him. I miss him so much. I'm not even watching this for the pack, just need Kayla's warm, funny and upbeat personality right now. Thanks for doing what you do, Simsie.

I’m deeply sorry!

I'm so sorry to hear this! It's the worst kind of heartache and I've been there too 💔 Sending very big hugs.
I loooove the idea of being able to change traits in-game when asked! I think it's more realistic, especially when you mentioned the slob-to-neat change because I used to live in what I called "organized chaos" 😂 But as I got older, especially as I had roommates, I got neater. Now I can't do anything in the house without clothes being where they should be, dishes in the sink, etc. Rather than just leaving everything lying around all the time. So I'm excited for this new thing lol
The conversation topics sounds like "interests" from Sims 2. Their interests effected their conversations depending on how interested they were in the topic. I loved that because it made making friends more challenging. You could also have your sim change the topic if things weren't going well.
As an experienced nanny and person who holds a BA in Psychology, I am very impressed with how EA was able to integrate Sims gameplay with actual elements of human development, especially in the sense that infants gradually gain more and more interactive abilities the more they discover about the world. Even just the base game update, I was super impressed playing around with it yesterday that you can't have infants interact with non-need based objects (like toys or a diaper left on the floor) that they cannot see from their position at the time. That alone reflects the cognitive development of humans at that age as they determine perspective, short term memory, object permanence, and visual acuity. So much of what we've been told is in this new expansion pack makes me want to call it the neuropsychological development pack. I will definitely be buying this in the next few months.
"Even just the base game update, I was super impressed playing around with it yesterday that you can't have infants interact with non-need based objects (like toys or a diaper left on the floor) that they cannot see from their position at the time"
Really? My infant was playing peekaboo with his mom, except mom had put him down behind the couch and then walked in front of it. I checked from his perspective: All he can see is the back of the couch.
@@ILuvAyeAye unlike newborns, other sims are not objects. I said objects because I meant only objects. I should have been more clear. That's on me.
If the infant is crawling around in the kitchen and you want them to go play with a toy sitting on the floor in the living room, you will get a little grayed out blob that says the infant can't see it at the moment. same thing for the "what's that?" object interactions.
Attachment styles as well! Being more or less confident depending on whether your caregivers encouraged you to explore or not? Exceptional. I’m really excited about the pack for that. Honestly in my opinion base game infants are pretty fleshed out and there’s plenty to do with them. Family gameplay already feels so much better
Can no one else buy a pack without simsie telling us how it is first? Cause I can't bring myself to buy it without her honest reviews
I atleast need to be told it isn't going to be a bugged up mess. But having someone talk in depth really helps
Other than bugs and glitches, her opinion on almost every pack is overwhelmingly positive. That’s fine, but there are certainly some packs she absolutely loves that I’m a bit ehhh about, not even in terms of personal play style but just how well they work.
@@hanscapon222 that’s just not true.
@@hanscapon222 that is absolutely not accurate😂
I agree with your infant thoughts a lot. I haven't played the pack yet, obviously, but it does feel like half of the infant features are locked behind a paywall. I'm stoked to get my hands on this pack tomorrow, don't get me wrong! But not everyone has $40 to spend on making infants more interesting, you know?
Or generally connections with other sims. You have to pay to have any substantial relationships in this game...
i definitely get the feeling of half of infant stuff being locked behind a pay wall. i’ve been planning to buy the pack and super excited for the update so i’m half thrilled for all the new features and half annoyed that some of it wasn’t made part of the update instead
Did you know! That others Sims can now ask you to move in with them?! My Sim dated Malcolm Landgrabb & he called to invite her to move in! I love the feature!❤
Some of these features were in Sims 2 , like compatibility en personal trait ( hidden) . Glad to see them back in the sims
I’m so excited for milestones. The memory system from the Sims 2 was one of my favorite things and I’ve missed it ever since, so this feels a lot like that. ❤️
i love how kayla makes it clear her opinion is completely hers a lot of other youtubers don’t care about transparency💗💗
I absolutely love this Family dynamic stuff. Like I struggle to include cousins, uncles and aunt's, etc. but with this, I can be more close with them.
“This pack is $40”. It’s $54.99CAD 😭🇨🇦 I’ll most likely be waiting for it to go on sale. Aside from the price, this pack genuinely seems like it has so much to offer. Thanks for the honest review Kayla!
Yeah, hell no. Especially since they are clearly gouging their customers.
But that's the same thing though isn't it? 40 USD = 55 CAD
@@alishak8241 It is! Just seems like a lot lol. Wish it was $40CAD without the conversion rate 😂
Dang they ain’t kind to your country huh 😂
it's on sale rn!!! go grab it :))
tbh this sounds like the best pack they've ever come up with. adds challenge and randomness and actually makes sims have personalities and live a LIFE. it's actually big deal in a LIFE simulator
I’m currently experiencing burnout irl, and I’m gonna fix it with the sims. Love how realistic this game is becoming!
The world is such a huge disappointment. It’s so annoying that we’ll never see a world so full of detailed stuff like Windenburg again.
I’ve heard it’s because adding bigger worlds like Windenberg would make the game unplayable for console users because it would be too much for a console to load
@@vernahassenfeldt2015 that makes zero sense when consoles have the ability to load in worlds like Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA and Elden Ring
@@peachtoastie idk like I said that’s just what I heard I’d have to do more research on it
@@vernahassenfeldt2015 it's low end computers that won't load not consoles
@@vernahassenfeldt2015 this is why, if sims 5 comes for console, I will not buy it. I'm so tired of not getting stuff because they made the game for a platform I am NOT on and that can't be upgraded
okay i’ve just spent the first 5 minutes of this video trying to understand HOW. SHE DOESN’T. BLINK. ONCE??? i was literally staring at her soul and attempting to pay attention to what she was saying but… she doesn’t blink 😂 yeah i know it was edited and there’s a lot of cuts while she speaks but it’s still unique how she’s able to not move her eyes once lol
there are jump cuts though it's not like it's a full unedited five minutes
@@joelle4226 yeah i know that but it’s just impressive how she can keep looking at the camera intensively, i wouldn’t be able to keep that 😂
@@tataiiiii she's not always looking. There's only a few seconds before the video cuts. She's probably blinking between those cuts.
@@abbeyBominable123 yeah but it’s still funny how she blinks this specific (i mean, people usually move their eyes and stuff while talking), that’s why it caught my attention
bro I love how people are responding with your comment with the dumbest most obvious things 😂 but yeah I agree with you its kinda weird how she starin at us
Seasons, growing together, and love struck. My new sim pack collection is starting awesomely because of you
I love how they implemented attachment theory for this pack. I can't wait to play tomorrow and see how it plays out.
I NEVER buy a pack till I see the review Kayla does anymore. I love how thorough she is and is very honest about it. Thank you so much, you've done an amazing job! :)
I’m also really really glad to see they brought the movie theater back!! I always loved having my sims going to the movies together! It’s amazing to hear all of the awesome features they’ve added. I’m so excited to play it! Thanks for the very thorough and honest review! 😊
I wonder if they'll eventually add more infant clothes from older packs. Like turning the toddler clothes in some packs into infant clothes.
Not gonna lie. Can't wait to do the cinderella challenge with this pack and see all the childhood trauma that's gonna happen.
Huge round of applause to the developers that worked on this pack🎉 I’m so excited to get it
I'm really excited for those family dynamics! Although I hope that you can set these family dynamics with sims that are not in your household (anymore). I'm playing a story where my teenage sim is living alone. His mother died when his brother was born and my sim was only 9 years old when this happened. His father began drinking and going out a lot with other women so he took care of his baby brother. He also has an aunt (sister of his father) and he asked her to help when his baby brother was a toddler. But his father did not speak to the aunt due to an ongoing family conflict. So he was abcent all the time. When my sim turned 15, he found a tiny apartment to live while working and going to high school. He's not on good terms with his dad and does not speak to him. He loves his brother but he's also distant to him because of his father. He's now 18 and wants to connect more with his brother. He still does not talk with his father. His father and brother live with the aunt now who is a single and very rich mother (her hubby past away and left her a huuuge house). His father took care of his brother when my teenage sim moved out 3,5 years ago and he stopped drinking and is working to be a better person. But my sim still won't talk to him. I'm trying to play this story right now and was struggling with the fact that you could not set any family dynamics in the game. So this new dynamic thing could be really helpful.
i feel like even if you’re not a huge family player, this still just brings so much more debth and life to sims even if they’re on their own
I honestly don't know how anyone could think Kayak would be dishonest about this pack. She's never been afraid to speak her mind or tell you when she thinks something doesn't make sense. I'm well above her age and genuinely appreciate her thoughts and the huge amount of effort she puts into these videos and what she wants to share about the gameplay and assets. Her enthusiasm about this pack comes through and is infectious. I can't wait to play with this pack and I love Kayak's honest review of her experience.
i’m actually really excited for the family dynamic stuff, im currently doing kaylas not so berry challenge and i’m about to move onto yellow gen (she’s still a child and rose gen still hasn’t completed his career just yet) and tommorow i can finally do the “close to your grandma and your parent that was the heir aren’t very maternal/paternal” story line thing, super happy with this pack it looks super fun!
Yes, the first thing I thought of when I saw dynamics is how perfect it would be for that NSB storyline! It was SO hard to keep rose and yellow distant before, I ended up making them two separate areas of the house and locking doors so they couldn't interact, lol.
@@spiritedsamph yeah it’s especially hard when my rose gen sim ends up being super nice to everyone despite having to be a hard working, flirty but not “in love”, switches partners a lot kind of person 😭 he’s just ended up being the opposite of what the rose gen said apart from the serial romantic aspiration but i still love him
Wish they at least put 1 changing table in the base game, that was an odd choice, like 4 come with the new pack could’ve spared one.
You did an amazing job explaining what comes in this pack, better than the gurus even! I already pre-ordered it but this review has me SO EXCITED!
so excited for the bell family with this pack:)
I’m super stoked about the conversation topics!!! I think it’s going to freshen up gameplay a lot, I’ve been spamming the same interactions since 2014
I haven't been this excited for a pack ever! Only a few more hours, but I just can't wait!!! This video just made me even more excited, even though I already knew all these features. Can't wait for Simsie's videos and streams after this pack and the baby update!
Can you do another "runaway teen" story with this pack? I loved that series so much, and really want to see it again
Simsie always gives us an honest review, and we love her for it, she be saving our money for us 😂
With everything this pack adds to the game, it kind of seems like a must-have.
The compatability reminds me of Lilith and Angela Pleasant from the sims 2
Idk how you can say this is a good pack whenever all of these things should already be in the game. I know it’s hard to see past the ea fog of how you need these things to make it more immersive/realistic, but in a game that’s a life simulator, the realism should already be there without them trying to dig in our pockets
Love you Kayla, I’ve watched with so much love and I’m always happy when watching you!
TBH, they should have made Base game Infants like Toddlers with skills and then made the skills happy milestones with the EP.
Yea I agree
im so excited to play with the new sim compatibility!! i feel like those relationship scenarios will be so much more fun now!
Shouldn't the infants be able to do stuff be part of the basegame infants update?
Yea it should :(
I’m pretty sure the infants in the base game update can already do everything as opposed to having to learn it in the pack. Like in Growing Together, your infant has to learn to sit up in order to be able to use the high chair. In the base game, they can just automatically sit up and use the high chair instead of having to learn.
@@GentlethemJoey they dont have to learn,,,… they are literally smaller toddlers
@@alinecunha9010…? small toddlers… as in… the Before stage of toddlers… who cannot just Sit up and Grab and do everything a toddler can do… yes, they have to learn. 💀
@@alinecunha9010 Smaller toddlers is literally an infant lmao.
I've spent too much money on Sims 4... Tis my guilty pleasure. Loves Sims, I just like getting packs that have more lands and jobs and such. I haven't gotten all the small little 5 dollar packs, but I have like all the main ones.
This is the best in depth review of a pack I can imagine. Much much better than just showing CAS, Build&Buy and some gameplay aspects. This video helped me so much to imagine what the pack has to offer with all its Pros & Cons (and also very important: How many bugs I have to expect and if they are gamebreaking.)
Thanks Kayla! Love this review (the best review from every review I watched) and as a family player, I'm very sure I'm going to buy the pack.
And I'm thankful that you let your Sims suffer just to tell us your Sims experiences with burnout😄
If we can advocate for pre teens now. That would be awesome!
What struck me was most of the family interaction stuff should be added to the base game instead of being a paid upgrade
It's not that I'm wondering what the point of the pack is, I'm just confused why I have to pay $40 for my Sims to have relationships
The rabbit hole movie theater is soooooo nostalgic. I've been replaying The Sims 3 recently waiting on this pack. So excited for it to come out today!
What works for me, in order to fix the burn out, my sim is a writer and he got a major burn out, I didn't know what to do! But if you put your sim to either box or take naps it works! 👍
