Insane is an understatement. It took me 12 months just to WRITE a feature length film, and that’s for something that hasn’t even been produced yet. Hell could you edit a feature in a month? I think just barely, but that’s assuming all the footage is shot and everything else is ready to go. What you’re proposing is to write, cast, storyboard/block, shoot, score, edit and master a feature in a single month, for 12 months. Godspeed sir, please don’t die!
you should definitely check out his other films, especially drowning in potential and we need to leave here together, they were both completely shot in one day and edited in the weeks afterwards. Joel has an insane talent for making simple yet immensely moving films on a shoestring budget, in my opinion he's the best filmmaker of our time.

I don't make stuff, but your content has helped me learn so much, Primer. I must've watched and rewatched the Evolution series more than 10 times by now, just because it manages to strike that balance between being jam-packed with information and still very understandable. Your animations and all those simulations and sliders where you just see what happened and then you explain why things turned out that way, it's just delectable, really feels like you're a science teacher giving us the stimulus and revealing how it works.

We leave here together literally changed my relationship. I mean that will all the love in my heart because it really opened my eyes to things. I felt alone in how I felt in my relationship and it made me feel awful. I saw the film and it was exactly how I felt. I never thought a RUclips film could make me sob my eyes out in my living room. It gave me courage to speak up instead of just shutting it away and things got a lot better. Thank you so much for what you do and I can’t wait to see more of these films. 💕

Pretend That You Love Me was incredibly provocative, both emotionally and intellectually, and spoke deeply to the hopeless romantic in me. The layers you created in your character had me thinking about your film for days.
I won't lie, your animations are what brought me to you, but it was your friendship with Trent and your true passion for film making that kept me hungry for more Joel Haver. I'm looking forward to these 12 new films. You're an inspiration.

I opened this video half expecting a joke/reference to the other youtuber that quitted recently, and half afraid that you would quit youtube completely. I've always enjoyed your videos, mainly the comedies, music videos and animations, it brought some joy into my life during the quarantine and after.
I'm glad that you've decided to take on new challenges, and wish you the best in these 12 new films. I usually watched the shorter videos, but I will definitely watch the movies you'll make this year, it will be a monthly movie night.
I wouldn't want to see Joel go either, but if he did...it wouldn't be the worst youtuber quitting as Joel has SO SO much content already. Pretend That You Love Me is a film that feels so close to your soul, and following your sketches and your channel for talking about movies, I can see that it doesnt just come from your soul, but inspires all the work you've made since then. It's amazing to see a creator with their heart on their sleeve, willing to show every part of their passion. I don't think my life would be the same without Pretend That You Love Me, and I'm happy we are able to share our love for it, even if our experiences are so vastly different.
PTYLM is one of those movies that I absolutely loved, but I’ll never watch again because it was too powerful. Beautiful but painful

I don't normally comment on videos, or havent felt overly compelled to do so really. But i remember when this channel was small. I just sort of happened upon this channel one day and watched a video. Then another one. And another one. I started coming back each week to watch the next short film, wondering what you we're gonna cook up next. It's been years since i watched that first video. I've kept coming back since then. Heck I've even went back and watch the old stuff, (Idk why but Scenes from A Mexican Restaurant absolutely kills me) or Max and Tobey Take The Big Sleep (I'M B A S K I N G) 😂or the unprompted videos your dad sent you. Its all been really great watching the growth over the years. The amount of effort in your work really shows.

I love all of your stuff, even with the immense damage that it has, through totally random chance, wrecked on my financial life. I am so deeply in debt that my grandchildren and their great-grand children will never be able to buy houses, and I am forced to toil day in and day out as a completely coincidental, butterfly effect of your continued dedication to your craft. Every single work of art you have ever made has had an individual, completely unrelated, horrible effect on my life. While my relationships have kept me strong, every week I wait for the film that will, for some reason, cause my life to reach a new low that I didn't realize it could reach. From your first animated movie, which kickstarted a RUclips genre that would lead to someone else in my building overflowing the power due to watching it while charging many devices, leading me to have to go outside where I was hit by a bike and severely injured my leg, to your most recent video, "the town is beautiful this time of year", leading to my mother-in-law deciding to go on a walk, first having to drive, and ending up accidentally earning me a traffic ticket that would escelate as it appears that, during the time in which my car was stolen as a result of the last batman sketch, a series of crimes were commited with my license plate, and since I didn't call the police in this time it was argued I must have committed them. I am writing this from jail, and I'm currently fighting for an appeal trial which I hope does not line up with one of your video releases. I know that although the punishments will become farther apart, they will be an order of magnitude more horrifying, not just linearly to their increased length but exponentially as you move on to bigger and bigger things. I wait in fear, knowing that as all other punishments have been so far, the punishment that will result from this video will be the worst one yet. I wish you well, even after I pray daily for something to prevent you from uploading, but I realize I'd rather take the endless toil than stop someone from having such an otherwise positive, wholesome effect on so many people.@@Joel-Haver

Joel I can’t tell you how amazing this news is. Surprising? Absolutely. But amazing? One hundred percent. Pretend That You Love Me is my favourite film of all time, Forget About Everything For Awhile, Island, I’m going to be famous and Drowning in Potential are all in my top 30. Without fail all of your movies have made it into my top 100. You’ve inspired me for such a long time through pushing the boundaries of how movies can be made. This year I finally became the person I’ve always wanted to be thanks to your work. I created my own film (released as a web-series) with $0. It’s a funny feeling going into 2024, because the whole world feels a little bit easier now 😂 Good luck with this project Joel, like most, I’m blown away to know there’ll be twelve more Joel Haver films in my list of favourite movies this year
I’m blown away too! Doubling my features in one year is insanity, but I know it’ll push me into exciting uncharted waters.
