Getting that enchanted diamond hoe is great for racking up experience. I run down to the ancient city with that diamond hoe just to reload experience for the enchanting table. Then fix the hoe for the next run. Doesn't take long to rack up 30 XP.
I think you should talk more about WOOL block usage: Seal 6 sides of the shrieker, Run on carpet without vibration...... They are the counter to Ancient City for REAL. Once you doing the "Wool Way", you don't need armor anymore, just need Strong Shears, Hoe, Night Vision and Ignoring the Warden
@@kingcryonical The answer is No, any wool relate block placing are no vibration. That is the feature in the late part of the snapshot. Only problem is you need to risk for break the block next to the shrieker, so I said that "Ignoring the Warden" - run back with the wool paths when you triggered the shrieker
This is not a toxic channel promotion, but you can take a little time to check some of my video. I had tried the Wool Way 5 times above. That really works crazily LOL.
u could say the allay is a portable hopper with a single inventory slot. if ur not that much into redstone and technical stuff, ur not gonna find the allay too useful
I attempted to cheese a warden by digging 20 blocks forward at the end and near the shrieker, 3 blocks high, 1 block wide, and fill in the remaining gaps using the blocks I've mined. I'd activate the shrieker and quickly go at the start of where I dug, and lure him to my trap and hit him with my bow. Right after I anger the warden and does his roar, I quickly used the water bucket at the right placement and run to the end of the area I dug. This should not only leave warden stuck, but will not attack you/affect you with darkness. Then I'd use an infinity bow to take him down. I accidentally made a second warden appear, but I killed him too. In short, you can kill a warden by using very basic, oldest tricks in the book
I made a house for the warden and I trapped it there. I had to use like 4 totems of undying and a lot of splash potions of healing. Quite a thrilling experience.
Me and my friends raided the ancient city with only iron armor. We just had one person run around to make as much noise as possible and to destroy as many shriekers as possible. Then the others just looted the chests that were "safe". Its pretty if u have like 3-5 ppl
another strategy is to be all armoured up, carry a pickaxe to demolish the portals. also make loads of stairs so you can easily crouch around without having to stand up straight to walk down a block. still making noise but eventually you'll be able to easily navigate your way around. when wanting to kill the warden, go into a 2 high corridor without any lights. be close to the entrance of the city and shoot it with arrows. these I recommend having the fire enchantment on. using a sword is too risky. also have a bed nearby in case you die. it's key to resetting the spawn point.
I've always loved stealth games. Taking on an Ancient City with the goal of not being detected sounds like a lot of fun. How did you not mention wool blocks and carpet though?
i am a very old player and have been living in the ancient versions of minecraft but i decided to play a new version (19.2 i think) with my friends, i was aware of the warden and asked if it could be turned off. i was unsure so i tested it by making some noise and then i heard a rumbling in the ground and caught a glimpse of the warden, most horrifying thing of my life, was shaken for days, after that i’ve always had it turned off
I summoned this by accident. I haven’t played minecraft in few years and was just exploring a massive mine and came across it. I knew I should have ran when I heard the shrieks and saw the whole cave go dark however curiosity got the best of me.
A good tip for surviving the warden in the late game, you can actually tank through the massive health bar of the warden if you drink a strength 2 and a turtle master potion with fully enchanted netherite gear and start hitting the warden without panicking, the turtle master potion should last enough for you to unalive him (he will deal 1 heart per hit) and if you actually panic a golden apple will give you a lot of time. Another easier way would be to throw slowness 2 at him and shoot him with a bow without getting too far away for the sonic boom to kick in but I haven't tested this one yet
Started a new realms server for my nieces and nephew and myself and we hit up the Warden area today and we wandered upon the Ancient City. When the lights start flicking on and off ohh man, we booked it so fast back the way we came, we got out alive with a ton of loot form 3 or 4 chests. One of my nieces loved it was hooting and hollering but said her heart was racing fast (My heart was racing to I wont lie lol), my other niece though got scared so much she started to cry for about 30 seconds but I told her its ok, be the watcher for us as we go check this last chest, that got her all excited :) Great video, love this update
I had no idea this existed yet when I was going to the deep dark with my bf and I was like “woah look at these cool boxes. It’s like they’re sending out signals” and I kept hitting the boxes and jumping on them then out of no where my vision cut out and I heard something start digging. I was so scared and started running in random directions and my bf said it must be the warden and I was like “WTF IS THAT” and he said, “I think if you stay still he won’t hurt you” so I stopped in my tracks and waited. Along came the warden and I was pooping my pants. I stared at him for a couple seconds then he killed me. I had so much stuff that I lost ahhh. So I made my way back and just the sound effects of him walking around was enough to make me anxious. I kept telling my bf to just go grab my stuff bc he was more prepared than I was but he insisted I went myself. Even though I had 0 food, 0 tools, and 0 blocks. So I made a break for it and sprinted towards my loot. And ofc my vision had to cut out so I got ptsd and started sprinting in a random direction to hide. Well turns out I sprinted right off a cliff and died again. Fast forward 30 mins. My bf and I both have died about 3 times trying to get our stuff back and safely escaping. We get away and start digging upwards because we didn’t want to face the warden again. My bf falls off the edge of a cliff and I make my way back home with whatever loot we managed to gather. 0/10 terrible experience. Was very scared
It was the first week of me playing Minecraft. Didn't know who Warden was. Went up the stairs to his house like it's nobody's businees. Brother killed me within 10 seconds.
I recently had a dream/nightmare of me and some buddies looting an ancient city, except in the dream the warden could smash through walls (like the wither's dash attack in bedrock edition) and also go back underground, grab you, and drag you under These abilities resulted in several jumpscares during the dream, like at one point we got over a wall to escape it and had about 5 seconds of false security before it smashed through the wall like the kool-aid man and resumes the chase

The mob with whom u have 0 business to do, just like Piglin Brutes. we can just bring scary things upon ourselves............... if we want to. I think it's just an experience feature. Ender Dragon is our best worst friend at this point in the game and the warden is our worst enemy.
Haven't played minecraft in...literal years. Was not keeping up with updates, had no knowledge of ANYTHING that was new... Accidentally burrowed into this biome/city whatever it is...and ACCIDENTALLY summoned a warden. The most terrifying experience of my life, and I've been playing horror games for years.
I really do think it’s should drop something good but at the same time I get it this alien like creature is supposed to challenge how sneaky and quite u are
So, I'm an ancient sod that's not played minecraft since all of about 2017. I recently got back into it the other week and stumbled upon what I NOW KNOW is the DEEP DARK biome...apparently one of the *rarest* to spawn. It just so happened to be right beneath my heccin' covy hole house :L Not knowing what the mechanics were about the warden and the shrieker related blocks, I nearlly summoned the damn Warden after mining some of the blocks. Probably the most creeped out I've ever been by minecraft in a good long while and I remember when the Wither was new =w=; All that to say - thanks for breaking down the what's what on the Warden! It's great to learn about it :D
1:15 yeah, I built a contained area and spawned a warden as well as a few of the more difficult mobs just to see what it can do and oh boy o-o this thing is able to kill a ravager in 3-4 hits. I also put 3 iron golems against it and it still came out on top
so just make the ultimate sword with mending I. upgrade from diamond to netherite to make it fire resistant. instead of having a recovery compass in case you drop your items, have a bed nearby to set your respawn point. the largest risk is leaving your items hover for a long period of time.
Here's a tip: If you sprint and then immediately hold shift, you will sneak faster than normal. If you execute it fast enough, the sprint portion won't even make a vibration.
most terrifying creature i’ve seen in game. was doing my best to sneak around and not summon it but it came around anyway. it killed me then i logged off for a few hours, went back in and he was still there and killed me again.
The best moment I’ve had with the warden is just wandering about on the surface while my friends go into an ancient city and I just hear them scream and then they both die and it was hilarious.
I did my own fun testing in creative. The only way to not make the warden a threat in hard mode is full netherite with protection 4, turtle master potion and god Apple. Then other things like regen 2 and such because then you just heal to fast for it
11 days and you can find warden farms on RUclips and I’ve caught the warden in survival to put him in a zoo… Everything not unbeatable will be destroyed by minecraft players but somehow it’s also beautiful to see how active this whole community still is and how they all feel challenged by the words „do not fight the warden“😂😂
I was playing a survival world after the wild update and decided to explore the ancient city because it has good loot. While opening chests and such I accidentally summoned it, I tried crouching but it spawned right in front of me. I was staring at it face to face and it kept sniffing me. There were blocks surrounding me so I couldn’t run. Eventually it roared and it killed me. I thought it was going to walk away but it didn’t.
Wattles: The Warden does the most damage Wardens dmg : 45 damage Me: bruh, the Charged creeper and Ghast does more damage. How you might ask The charged creeper when it explodes does 127 damage and the Ghast when it’s fire ball is knocked back at it , the fire ball does 1000 to the Ghast
Easiest method is to build a glass trap around the chest area and use a repeater with a soundblock inside and light up the area around the chest area. This forces him to stay around the soundblock and he will not deviate from that. You'll be safe in a 40 block area. Build another trap on the other side and you can do whatever you want
Stranger things comparison: Warden->Demogorgon Sculk->the mind flayer/vecna vines Minecraft Steve->Will City center->Portal to alt dimension👀 Totally not a stretch at all lol.
Having a shulker box full of wool has really helped me so far. I just bridge away until i get to wool that i’ve already placed or that was generated. then i can sprint-jump.
I made this poem about the Warden, I hope you like it: Cave guard, cave guard, lurking in the dark He can't see, but he can hark Be careful little puppy, don't you bark Or else he will break you into a spark Underneath the ground there's a huge place Is it a castle or is it a palace? Maybe that's the home of the big menace Who will pull you into darkness with no trace He is always sleeping under the ground That's why he is hard to be found But if you make a little sound He will emerge and give you big pound Inside the guard's home, dark and cold No sign of life, that's what they told There are some tricks that never gets old Stay silent, walk quietly, and always be bold
It would take a 500 block drop to kill the warden instantly. This wouldn’t be possible in the old version of Minecraft, because the maximum height you can drop a mob from in that version is around 298 blocks, but it IS possible to do it in the new version, because the world height has been increased waaay past 500 blocks.
Great informative video, thank you. However... Not quite 'everything'. How far does the sonic boom reach? Is there a time limit between each sculk shrieker activation, before it resets (if it resets)? e.g If I activate one, once every hour for four hours, will the Warden then spawn? These are the two things I was most interested in learning.
I kinda tested this, and the max range on the Sonic Boom from the Warden is approximately 25 blocks, both vertical and horizontal. As for the Shrieker activation, you simply need to trigger four vibrations for a Warden to spawn - however, the time frame after the Warden despawns and respawns is negated by the amount of vibrations needed. So simply walking near a Shrieker after a Warden has despawned will simply resummon it, making the cooldown irrelevant.
I was always confused at why the warden was ever added to minecraft, considering how much health it has, and how strong it is. Within the past week is the first time I’ve actually played minecraft and actively seeked out the warden. And honestly, my thoughts on it did a total 180. I think it’s an awesome idea. A dangerous mob that your not actually intended to engage with is brilliant. It’s more of a deterrent than an enemy. Really clever. (I don’t play many other video games other than minecraft so I’m not sure if this idea has been used in other games) It’s actually been really fun so far, sneaking through the ancient city and busting up the shriekers and avoiding and running away from the warden. I do, I really enjoy the new challenge aspect.
Hey wattles, I think you should cover more general topics in your everything series. then work your way down into specific mechanics like mobs and blocks.
Ok, I have played maybe 50 hours of minecraft over the past 10 years. My son just started showing interest in the game so I updated my install and started a game with him. After about 4 hours of playing we found this weird underground city and started poking around. Welp, we triggered the Warden, it scared the crap out of my son and he died after 2 hits. I had no idea this was even a thing so I googled it and found your video. I guess I'm not going back to that underground city any time soon.
itd be such a coll touch if you couldnt see if you spectated it similar to the inversion of endermen or green of creepers, but maybe you can see those vibration particle things
I encountered my first Warden yesterday, not even sure how I summoned it, I was just exploring a cave when I suddenly heard a bunch of horrifying noises from somewhere and eventually got blasted to death through the cave walls.
the warden is the most interesting mob to me and i plan on purchasing minecraft just to see it! i always watch these to see how it works and its genuinely so cool and also from the comments clearly, dont hit the warden and run. because when your not running, the warden is only getting closer. also getting closer when your running, just slower than when your not
The antler things the Warden has are actually it's ears. Highly sensitive ears. If the player could somehow "remove" the antlers the Warden would be completely blind and deaf.
Hi Wattles that disc 11 now makes more sense with the warden in the game now. I wondered about disc 11 for so long who was running from what. Thank you. Love ur vids 🙂👍
this is why I reckon we need a current gen edition game. every trophy towards platinum is super easy with all the materials currently available. using a netherite sword with sharpness iv to take out the enderdragon decreases his health an awful lot. if we had the next edition game, graphics would be boosted to a somewhat extent of ray tracing and we should I hope get a new platinum trophy line up. like having an extra trophy to defeat the wither or warden. I haven't even defeated any of them yet and it would be a much better challenge to have a prouder outcome.
No clue, but it shouldn't really matter. If you want a shrieker that can spawn a warden, I believe shriekers that appear after a Sculk Catalyst absorbs exp can spawn wardens since they're technically naturally generating.
I'm thinking just bring a crap ton of brightly colored wool with you for carpets, blocks to place torches on, pillars, burying shriekers, etc. As I understand it, everything you do with or on wool is silent.
@@savamix3319 Same tbh. But until all the community acknowledges that Mojang is a millionaire company, capable of making big things, they'll start doing some serious updates :s
Really it's a preference, I was planning on doing what Wattles did in the mc guide when 1.16 updated to 1.17. But I haven't really gotten far enough to do that so I'mma just update my world and continue making my base I am hyped for the update tho
i think the warden idea from mojang is based on quiet place, cause the quiet place monster and the warden have alot in common -they are blind -they use echolocation to "see" -they are sensitive to sound -they are immune to almost everything -they have a strong hit -they can go really fast -they are weak to high-frequency sounds (maybe the warden is weak to it, who knows, cause the quiet place monster is weak to high-frequency sounds)
@@Tom-oz7wk He could build it IN an ancient city, and simply make the passages around the existing shriekers. (Or if possible, use a catalyst to generate them. Don't remember if those work tho!)
@@Tom-oz7wk I do not think he is that insane. But I can see someone planting a catalyst and sculk sensor in his base to terrorize him. It would become a Warden breeding ground!
While it is true that the warden does not care about the sounds bats make, they do care about the skulk sensors which can be triggered by bats, which causes the warden to get angry at a bat. I find this absolutely hilarious to just see the warden run full speed towards a tiny bat.
Not every mob or boss fight has to be rewarding. The deep dark provides lots of spooky ominous atmosphere and some cool new mechanics like wireless redstone and skulk xp farming. Even just capturing and naming a warden would be reward enough to keep as a pet.
There are plenty of non-deep dark biomes. Usually they spawn under mountains, which is what you want to avoid to be as likely as possible to not meet them
The Warden is a stalker. Just like Mr. X from resident evil. Or the blind stalker jeff from half life alyx. Its job is to give chase and be indestructible.
this can become a mini game: create some ancient ruins or just use the ancient city itself have multiple wardens spawned in on different locations have the player enter without equipment and they have to find chests and collect the contents (can be anything, like probably a diamond or smth) the player can only exit through a red stone door by depositing all of the objects that can be found in the chests, and they will win. dying before escaping obviously means they lose for a better challenge you can add like small tripwire traps that will trigger sounds (like noise machines or dispensers that start shooting arrows) basically slenderman but with wardens instead
Like have swift sneak leggings as powers ups and the longer the game goes without someone being the last man standing more wardens should keep appearing over time
Something I found out if your someone who casually plays while on peaceful the warden still spawns but it can't attack you at all I not sure if this is intentional but it makes it far less intimidating.

The only issue is the fact that placing a wool block on a sculk block activates the shriekers.
So true! Wool is OP in the cities!!

It feels like I’ve been waiting for ever for the implementation of the warden, but even now that it’s here I still feel like I’m waiting.

i am a very old player and have been living in the ancient versions of minecraft but i decided to play a new version (19.2 i think) with my friends, i was aware of the warden and asked if it could be turned off. i was unsure so i tested it by making some noise and then i heard a rumbling in the ground and caught a glimpse of the warden, most horrifying thing of my life, was shaken for days, after that i’ve always had it turned off
I summoned this by accident.
Another easier way would be to throw slowness 2 at him and shoot him with a bow without getting too far away for the sonic boom to kick in but I haven't tested this one yet
enchanted golden apples are also rly useful, they are fairly common in ancient cities

One of my nieces loved it was hooting and hollering but said her heart was racing fast (My heart was racing to I wont lie lol), my other niece though got scared so much she started to cry for about 30 seconds but I told her its ok, be the watcher for us as we go check this last chest, that got her all excited :)
Great video, love this update
I recently had a dream/nightmare of me and some buddies looting an ancient city, except in the dream the warden could smash through walls (like the wither's dash attack in bedrock edition) and also go back underground, grab you, and drag you under
These abilities resulted in several jumpscares during the dream, like at one point we got over a wall to escape it and had about 5 seconds of false security before it smashed through the wall like the kool-aid man and resumes the chase

Important tip: Use smite
The warden is an undead mob, so this does more damage to him than sharpness.
so just make the ultimate sword with mending I. upgrade from diamond to netherite to make it fire resistant.
instead of having a recovery compass in case you drop your items, have a bed nearby to set your respawn point. the largest risk is leaving your items hover for a long period of time.
Here's a tip: If you sprint and then immediately hold shift, you will sneak faster than normal. If you execute it fast enough, the sprint portion won't even make a vibration.

He can't see, but he can hark
Be careful little puppy, don't you bark
Or else he will break you into a spark
Underneath the ground there's a huge place
Is it a castle or is it a palace?
Maybe that's the home of the big menace
Who will pull you into darkness with no trace
He is always sleeping under the ground
That's why he is hard to be found
But if you make a little sound
He will emerge and give you big pound
Inside the guard's home, dark and cold
No sign of life, that's what they told
There are some tricks that never gets old
Stay silent, walk quietly, and always be bold
this is wonderful!!

I'm wondering if the new ancient portal could be activated by the warden Sonic attack
After 10 minutes on tally is down
sonic boom goes far all i know
I was always confused at why the warden was ever added to minecraft, considering how much health it has, and how strong it is.
(I don’t play many other video games other than minecraft so I’m not sure if this idea has been used in other games)
It’s actually been really fun so far, sneaking through the ancient city and busting up the shriekers and avoiding and running away from the warden.

Imagine having to kill the warden just to be able to complete an all advancements speedrun in 1.19
this is why I reckon we need a current gen edition game.
every trophy towards platinum is super easy with all the materials currently available. using a netherite sword with sharpness iv to take out the enderdragon decreases his health an awful lot. if we had the next edition game, graphics would be boosted to a somewhat extent of ray tracing and we should I hope get a new platinum trophy line up. like having an extra trophy to defeat the wither or warden. I haven't even defeated any of them yet and it would be a much better challenge to have a prouder outcome.
That person from seawatt channel with the tnt prison has made some serious mistakes in that gigantic and final room!
Can someone who knows please answer this question:
If you move a natural shrieker with pistons, can it still summon the Warden?
No clue, but it shouldn't really matter. If you want a shrieker that can spawn a warden, I believe shriekers that appear after a Sculk Catalyst absorbs exp can spawn wardens since they're technically naturally generating.
Shriekers actually can’t be moved by pistons

There are plenty of non-deep dark biomes. Usually they spawn under mountains, which is what you want to avoid to be as likely as possible to not meet them

this can become a mini game:
create some ancient ruins or just use the ancient city itself
have multiple wardens spawned in on different locations
have the player enter without equipment and they have to find chests and collect the contents (can be anything, like probably a diamond or smth)
the player can only exit through a red stone door by depositing all of the objects that can be found in the chests, and they will win. dying before escaping obviously means they lose
for a better challenge you can add like small tripwire traps that will trigger sounds (like noise machines or dispensers that start shooting arrows)
basically slenderman but with wardens instead
