The third story ending I'd heard was the body of the boyfriend hung from over head tree. And feet hitting the roof as the wind blew the body back and forth. Murderer was never found.
@@jeffiot no way! I've had a similar story stuck in my head for probably over 20 years now and thought it was something I had made up myself since none of my friends seemed to have heard it
That's the one my grandma told me, she used to work at a psych ward and she drove me out on a utility road by the old part of the building and told me about "The hanging tree"
I got such a hit of nostalgia from that first one. I think when I read it was called 'Seeing Red' or something but it's a stone cold classic, and you're telling of it was really great! It was a bit changed from the version I knew but that's just how camp fire stories go I suppose.
You should make this an annual thing! The typical creepy pasta videos are so boring, I really like this format where you're telling a scary story as though we're sitting around a camp fire. Skitbra.
My father told me a very similar story to the first one when I was around ten, he called it "The keyhole" instead of a truck driver it was a writer. There were a couple other differences, but I thought it was interesting that I heard a similar story on here that I remember from my childhood. On the same night, my father told me the third story, with the American version. Thanks for an awesome video and a blast from the past!
I always remembered the car having broken down, but never understood how the hook gets stuck on the handle if the car can't move. Turns out, I was just blending the different versions in my head, man door hand hook car door style. Good to know!
That second story is actually an extremely common tactic used by people to assault, kidnap, or murder others. Don't get out of your cars for weird things in the middle of nowhere, kids.
Not to necro a year-old comment, but there was a similar tactic in my area where someone on a rural road would fake a motorcycle crash. Bike on it's side nearby, person laying in the road, and three or four others hidden in the foliage out of sight waiting for someone to get out to help the "victim".
@raeoverhere923 Yes. Where I live there was someone who would throw fake bodies at cars just enough that they think they ran someone over. They'd r@pe if the person was a women. I only know of this because on of my boyfriends old teachers experienced this. Thankfully she had a strange feeling and had her friends go back in the car and as they passed by they saw a truck in the shadows and a man walking towards where they were.
As a USian, I only just realizes that Car Door Hook Hand is also Lover's Lane. I heard two variants and never connected them. In story one, any two random people are out somewhere and hear there's a killer with a hook hand on the loose. They leave and think they were never in real danger, but get home only to find a hook in their car door. In story two, the makeout spot is specifically in the woods under some trees, and it's abandoned because there's a spooky storm raging. Everything happens like you told until they split up. Then she hears a weird scraping noise on her car roof. In the morning, the cops find her and tell her to get out. The scraping was her boyfriend's body, hung upside-down from the trees and swinging in the wind. He was holding some random metal object in his rigor mortis hand that made the sound.
I'd only heard the American version of the last story, but I loved this one so much more. Much more scary and rather sad. Also cool that you're buds with the girl who it actually happened to!
"This is a true story. It happened to a friend of a friend of mine" They used to play one of these as the transition from kids after school shows to the news and it was the best! (straya 90s)
Second story is really old actually! I think Jack Werner talked about it in Creepypodden (swedish horror podcast) and it’s also featured in Bengt af Klintbergs book råttan i pizzan. Apparently versions of it have been going around since at least the 60s!
Okay haven’t finished the second story yet but I’m pausing to guess that it’s the one where the guy is following her and flashing his high beams and honking every time the murderer in the backseat tries to get her
The versions of the last story I've heard had either the boyfriend being hung above the car and she was hearing his shoes scraping the roof, or that she hears dripping and comes to find out her boyfriend has been hung upside down with his throat cut, dripping on the roof.
Would love to hear more of these nostalgic campfire stories read by you! I've been binging your content lately, great work all around with everything you have done so far. o/
my goooooood i heard you explain the second version with the hook, and I was like oh this must be where man door hand hook car door is from, but you beat me to it. great stuff! this is obviously an older video but since i'm leaving a comment anyway, I just wanted to say I found you recently and your work is fantastic! such high quality videos with great writing, insight and humor! you deserve more subs fr. keep up the good work!
The first story sounded similar to Number 13 by M. R. James, kind of like it had been told and retold over years, with every storyteller leaving out the bits which are no longer spooky and adding new modern details.
The version I heard the murder had a hook hand but the boyfriend still had to leave the car for something and after a while the girlfriend starts to hear a scraping noise that sounded like a hook scratching at the roof, when the cops came and she looked back it was the boyfriend's mutilated body hanging from the tree above the car his nail scratching along the roof as the wind blew him back and forth, they never found the killer, so something kinda between both versions
I like that you added some images and noises to go with the stories. Makes it more interesting even though some of the stories are so common and not scary. Please do more
All the little innocuous camera and lighting changes that got left in wouldn't normally get a second thought but in a spooky video every single one made me paranoid of some impending meta scare that naver came lol
i heard the same story but instead of pulling up to the car, the man would flash his high beams into her car because the murderer was coming out from behind and he had to flash them to try to tip her off
I need more of these campfire stories! The first one in particular was a favorite growing up, so many memories! And the third, my mom used to tell me that one as we waited for the school bus in the morning! 😂
I've heard a couple of versions of the "banging on the car roof" story but fwiw yours was told the best. In the UK it's normally his hand or foot hanging from a tree above the car
I remember that last one from a soot house video, got so scared the first time, just as scary the second time. man door hand hook car door hand will forever haunt my dreams.
Nah but the second one, I always get freaked out heavely, almost on a like feels instinctual level by horror that infringes on familar spaces, violation of boundries and deception, genuinely fucked me up for a bit lmao good shit, this and the SCP stuff is why im a lil jeffer now
I heard the second and third stories before. Have even shared the second one myself. Interestingly I heard the European version of the third story, despite living in America. The first story’s ending was pretty neat I liked that.
Man. That story with that nurse friend... Just too real with that fear. I would have been too scared to go back home. ALSO, what the fuck with that twist. EXTRA SPOOKY. Never stop in the middle of the road for anything at night for sure. 😭😭😭
I had heard variations of all of these but I SO enjoyed watching this video, it still got me super creeped out and on edge listening to you tell them. I hope you continue this as a Halloween tradition 🎃
Interesting, I've heard all of these but different variations here in Canada. Of course the hook hand man. The one with the doll is usually told as a worker at a gas station trying to prevent a woman from driving off with someone in her car (this was used in the shitty early 2000s horror movie Urban Legend) and the red eyed one is very similar except it's often an old abandoned hotel or house people are exploring.
I heard a variation of the last story as a child, but there was no boyfriend and the head was from a random person, so I actually didn't realize it was the same story until the very end. (Also am european so that checks out) Always found this one pretty scary. It was definitely up there, with the counting doll one lol
Version of man car door hook hand I heard as a kid had the repetitive knocking not the killer banging the boyfriend’s head, but the body of the boyfriend, hung…hanged? Is it only hanged if it’s a noose and that’s how they died? If they were killed before and then….fuck it, corpse of the boyfriend strung up on the tree, the wind moving him, his foot constantly tapping the roof.
I didn't know that the Man Door Hand Hook Door was its name. I've never known its name when people told it. The variations ive heard was the boyfriend hunged and trying to ge the gfs attention as he hangs from the tree barely able to reach the top of the car, she freaks out and leaves him; another version is that hes tapping to get her to not move the car and she freaks and accidentally helps in the hanging. Then theres one where its the boyfriends blood doing the tapping throughout the night.
NOT MAN DOOR HAND HOOK CAR DOOR!!!!! THE HORROR! THINK OF THE CHILDREN!
I can't believe there's an actual good version of man door hand hook car door XD
'man door hand hook car door'
scariest shit i ever heard
The third story ending I'd heard was the body of the boyfriend hung from over head tree. And feet hitting the roof as the wind blew the body back and forth. Murderer was never found.
check out the nightmind video, he breaks down the origin and some variations!
@@jeffiot no way! I've had a similar story stuck in my head for probably over 20 years now and thought it was something I had made up myself since none of my friends seemed to have heard it

If it's a wind then it wouldn't be rhythmic
"My retelling was the European version. In the American version they hear about an escaped mental patient and hand hook man door car door"
MAN HAND HOOK DOOR HAND MY BELOVED
I got such a hit of nostalgia from that first one. I think when I read it was called 'Seeing Red' or something but it's a stone cold classic, and you're telling of it was really great! It was a bit changed from the version I knew but that's just how camp fire stories go I suppose.
"i love you sweaty" awww, love conquers all : )
I watched this at like 4 in the morning like a fool, and I'm so glad you ended with man door hand hook car door to lighten the mood, thank you jeff
This is me, like especially the second one lmao
Same
I decided this was the video to watch literally as I’m half falling asleep…
You should make this an annual thing! The typical creepy pasta videos are so boring, I really like this format where you're telling a scary story as though we're sitting around a camp fire. Skitbra.

I legit got the creepies from the first 3 and as soon as you started talking about the Chans I KNEW it was man hand hook car door. ☠️☠️☠️
I always remembered the car having broken down, but never understood how the hook gets stuck on the handle if the car can't move. Turns out, I was just blending the different versions in my head, man door hand hook car door style. Good to know!
The second I heard about the broken car on Lovers’ Lane I immediately said “Oh! It’s man door hand hook car door!”
THEN WHO WAS PHONE!?
That second story is actually an extremely common tactic used by people to assault, kidnap, or murder others. Don't get out of your cars for weird things in the middle of nowhere, kids.

This is exactly why I tell everyone I can to just floor it back where they came from and even if their tires pop to just keep going.

Your uncle retelling that last one must be quite the sight
I'd only heard the American version of the last story, but I loved this one so much more. Much more scary and rather sad. Also cool that you're buds with the girl who it actually happened to!
The lighting was def more balanced before adding the extra one at 4:10, great video tho!
DUDE I CAN NOT BELIEVE I GOT MAN DOOR HAND HOOK CAR DOOR'D DUDE
"This is a true story. It happened to a friend of a friend of mine"
They used to play one of these as the transition from kids after school shows to the news and it was the best! (straya 90s)
"Man door hand hook car door" has the same energy as "who was phone?"
I really really like not only the variety of content you create Jeff, but the quality and effort in every video. Long may you continue.
Ooh, that fourth one got me. ;-). No, but you told the first 3 so believably. I legit didnt recpgnize the first one until you got to the last line.
Second story is really old actually! I think Jack Werner talked about it in Creepypodden (swedish horror podcast) and it’s also featured in Bengt af Klintbergs book råttan i pizzan. Apparently versions of it have been going around since at least the 60s!

Came from night mind too, but your content is the reason i keep coming back!
@@williamdavis7274 yea
ok.
I watch night mind, but I didn't know they knew this person.
I love old school horror stories. Real life is scary enough so going back to the simple and predictable stories is nice.
this is a fantastic channel
Okay haven’t finished the second story yet but I’m pausing to guess that it’s the one where the guy is following her and flashing his high beams and honking every time the murderer in the backseat tries to get her
Just what we need for a weekday Halloween! Ghost stories!
The versions of the last story I've heard had either the boyfriend being hung above the car and she was hearing his shoes scraping the roof, or that she hears dripping and comes to find out her boyfriend has been hung upside down with his throat cut, dripping on the roof.

I watched the whole video just knowing I'd be rewarded with man door hook man car door at the end
that’s maybe the shittiest secret knock possible
This channel is a gem sharing space with the current sea of mud that is RUclips
That skeleton at 18:43 spooked the hell out of me

I’ve heard all of these twists but the changes you made and the way you tell stories make it worth it

I liked the format of this video. You tell it quite well and I really appreciate the camp shirt and the 'patches'
