I'm a tip toe'er , but I bought a gel pad for my seat the difference for my butt was 50 miles to 250miles between stops. Think I will integrate it with the seat. Thanks for the Idea.
Great video. I did that to my Honda VTX1800. I added back memory foam back on top and then stapled the cover back on and rode it all the way from NC to Canada. No sore butt at all.
Good job! I'm a fan of self-modded seats, especially lowering the seat height on tall bikes. That'll work nice for her with some lowered links and dropping the fork tubes to keep the steering angle more correct.
Yo, my man…I just bought the ergo easy reach seat….dang, you could have saved me $300! You have some serious skills and are a good dude. Your neighbor lady is lucky to have you around! 😜😎
Thanks you JP! I get persuaded with coconut macaroons 😂. I was lucky when buying my KLR used, it had a low profile Sargent seat installed…. I feel you on the aftermarket seat prices… a bit out of hand in my opinion.
Had to do the same thing myself. These bikes weren't made with anyone under 5'11" in mind lol. I used a cheap electric filet knife, worked really well.
So looking forward to seeing Geri's journey, as I'm interested in possibly getting an ADV bike for future travels and I'm short, so all of your tricks and tips will come in handy.
Great demonstration. My corbin uses rivets instead of staples. I'm 5'4 on a fjr1300 and while it's fine with just me I want to flat foot when taking the gf. Have you ever done a riveted corbin seat? Did you use rivets to re-seat the cover?
@@AdventureTomek Is it a special stapler? I don't understand what makes the staple ends fold over the outside part of the seat. Thanks for your response.
I just had to comment that the knife in the thumbnail cracked me up. Nice job, I just bought a low seat for both of mine. Did you consider cutting it further down and adding 1/2" memory foam or something over the top to make it a bit more comfy? We all know factory dirt bike seats are like sitting on a 2x4.
Trying to make the thumbnails more clickable…this may have the opposite effect lol… that’s not a bad idea… might try that in the future. Ended up ordering some lowering links… that will be the next step
Yes! first like, first comment. I hate being short, on my KLR it's scary, gonna try this today, however I'm worried about the seat being less comfortable with the loss of padding.
@@AdventureTomek Getting a little worried I wont mess it up. I heard seat concepts lowered is very comfortable. I'll go that route just in case.... Thanks for the great content.

Nice job. I may do this and add some memory foam if possible now that I can see my idea will work. Thanks bro
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching 🍻

I'm 5"9" and I'll do it on my 2021 Honda XR650l. Thank you for a job well done.
Thank you

How do you like your easy reach? Do you think it's worth the money?

Thank you Wind.Road.Therapy…. Might be able to get her on the bike in March.
Winter 🥶 is making itself present here in CO
Good work and instruction
Thank you
Hello. I might of missed it but didn't see a follow up video. How did the seat turn out?
Geri sold the bike not long after I posted this. She still was not comfortable on the bike. The links and seat lowered it about 2"
Best video I ever watched.

Sheesh .. Watching, I thought you had lots of experience doing this! Looks great!
Thanks PO3, this really was my first attempt at something like this.
Maybe give people some more confidence to DIY.
@@AdventureTomek absolutely!! Did you watch some videos first to see how to do it? RUclips is awesome for DIY tutorials!
Wow, great job, particularly given that this is your first try, gives me confidence to do this to my VFR800
Go for it! Just be patient and take your time
Great voice. Great confidence on your 1st time. Great video.
Thank you
I feel that looked way easier that it was. lol Great share!
Thank you

Never worked on a riveted seat. Used staples
Thanks for watching
Awesome video 👍. What grade sandpaper did you use I’ll be reshaping the foam not necessarily cut it down just reshaping. Tia….
180/240… you could probably even go finer then that.
Good work mate
nice job!!!!
How do you keep the staples from going through the outside of the saddle?
The are not very large, won’t go al the way through
@@AdventureTomek Is it a special stapler? I don't understand what makes the staple ends fold over the outside part of the seat. Thanks for your response.
@@saxophool the ends don’t fold. The staples are thick and stay in place.
It’s a staple gun, I’m sure someone you known has one

Thank you Eric
Nice job.
Thank you! Cheers!
Thanks for sharing.
Amazing
Still loving the Corona neon! Good work Tom.
Thanks 602 North… I really need a Modelo…
Great video! Some fear to go to this realm.
It didn’t feel right cutting into a seat that survived so many years “2006”….. I was nervous myself.
Have to go one more step, lowing links next.
Well what's the outcome on the seat situation??
It helped but not enough for her height.
I purchased lowering links and installed those, now the bike is just right
@@AdventureTomek are they the same links that are for sale on eBay?
@@Robocoppat Devol is the brand I went with.
You can find the install video as well on the channel.
I’m not sure I ordered these off Amazon

Take a little bit at a time off… I was pushing down with my fist on the foam every once in awhile… get a feel if it’s not getting to firm.

I want you as a neighbour!! 😅
why anybody would want to sit on a less comfortable seat is beyond me
It isn't about the comfort 😂
Omg! Common sense is priceless! 🤣
Not supposed to be able to reach the ground on a dirt bike
