    How do I clean the inner lens? The one next to the aperture mechanism?

    • @CamerasLensesEtc
      @CamerasLensesEtc  2 месяца назад +1

      You have to (almost) completely disassemble the lens to get access to that lens element.

    hi, I removed the front lens and the plastic rings and screws, now i reassemble the focusing lens but cannot find the screw holes for the plastic rings and screws anymore, how do i find them?

      Can you send me a timestamp of the holes you can't find?

    thanks a lot. i will give it a try as my copy collected some dust aswell inside (and even survived a crash, only breaking the UV filter luckily)!
    are you ever planning on doing a similar video for tamron 200-500? i sadly got sent a very dirty copy. the copy also doesnt focus to infinity and the IQ is horrible.. i dont know how hard the dust is effecting all those problems tho..
    thank you.

    • @CamerasLensesEtc

      Dust in the lens can affect the contrast / increase haze, or can be seen in the bokeh. It is unlikely that causes autofocusing problems. I think the AF problems are caused by something else.
      I don't have Tamron 200-500mm lens, and it is quite rare lens, and I don't expect to have that in the future.

      @@CamerasLensesEtc thanks for the quick reply. i opened the 2.8 tammy yesterday and it was as easy as seen in the video.. very good. i removed dust, small glass fragments from the broken UV filter and even a little fungus, ew.. and surprisingly it also fixed my AF issues i have had since a long time (very unreliable, sometimes not reacting to AF microadjust, sometimes spot on with and without microadjust).. magical.
      if you are keen to fix 200-500.. i could send you mine, hehe.

      Tamron 200-500mm: I think the import taxes +postal cost would be higher than the value of the lens, so it would be easier to just buy an other one.

      @@CamerasLensesEtc This is ofc a problem, but i live in austria. It shouldnt be too expensive between NL and AT i assume.

      @@CamerasLensesEtc for some reason my message disappeared, strange. well here again: i am from austria and i just checked our postal expenses. 5-10 day economy 2kg box costs just 10€.. nothing to complain for me. if you are really keen to get your hands on it i would take care of all the financials and we could arrange the details via private messages. cheers
      edit: in this condition i cant and even dont wanna sell it to anyone. throwing it away is a waste and a big financial loss to me.

    Hey, i have the same lens, but would cleaning it and reassembling fix the fact that when i focus in he cntre the left side it out of focus my a lot and the right is in focus?

      Seems to me that one of the lens elements are not parallel with the other ones. You might have to calibrate the lens.

      It has standard micromotor, I would go with the Sigma 70-200/2.8 HSM which is faster.

    • @ninnicuringa8712

      slow. but if you need it for landscape or not need speed, it's a really good lens

    at 2.49 you marked the front. Why? when i tried to clean it before to watch this video, i didnt and i closed it randomly: what will happen now? different and bad graphics of Lens? i dont know how it was first :-o

      I prefer to put back the front lens element at the same position as it was there originally. The front lens element can be calibrated, so if it is put back to a different position, the image quality can be worse. In this case it can be important to put back the washers and also the front lens element to their original place. Maybe the front lens is calibrated by the different washers.
      Check the image quality of the lens, if it is fine, then you're lucky.

      @@CamerasLensesEtc what is the correct name of this frontal element? I'm searching for buy, my lens are losing his coating. The mine is the "VC" version, the frontal element for the "LD (IF)" version work in the VC version?

    You are counting that the washers are all the same size and you are placing then in the original position... That's wrong procedure

    • @CamerasLensesEtc
      @CamerasLensesEtc  4 года назад

      If the washers are eccentric, then you should always put them back in their original position. In the case of Tamron 70-200/2.8, the washers are not eccentric, so they are the same size, so you don't have to mark them, and turn them to their original position.

      First of all, nice video. I was looking for a rough guide to take out the front elements.
      From what I see, the metal washers in question have different colours, so I'm almost certain they are spacers used to align the front element to sit perfectly parallel to the others. Care should be taken to place them in the exact same position as you found them.
      Also, the white plastic cam followers should be removed with more care as deforming them will eventually lead to slip in the focus mechanism. I've found that sticking a tooth pick in their center offers enough friction as to pull them out without scratching them up too badly.
