you are so welcome. I love your comment about the rain making you feel giddy. Sometimes I actually giggle or squeal when it starts to rain and I am cosy in my tent.
That's good to know as I have had my eye on a few Coleman tents but have never owned one myself before I wondered if they might be more suited to dry conditions. Thanks for the info.
As I have said before I love the way you adapt and overcome no matter what the situation. Having that large wonderful tent with sheltered indoor cooking and string lights everywhere… Glamping at its best! The vignette created by filming from the sleeping area towards the cooking area was a special touch.
Thank you so much Claude. I am glad you appreciated the filming from inside the tent. The filming on this trip was tricky because it was so dark filming inside a tent.
This is my kind of camping! I have knee and hip issues, so hiking into a remote area isnt going to happen, and i like a few comforts! Although I love your wild camping videos, I'm so glad youndo a "glamping" video niw and then!
Thanks. It takes a bit more research, but there are certainly ways to achieve that remote feel while still being able to achieve it without wrecking yourself in the process. I love a good camp alongside the car. SO nice to have things on hand, and just pack things 'in case I want them' lol. It's like luxury, when actually it is not, but it feels that way. I appreciate things I would usually take for granted.
I visited California for the first time a couple of years ago and even though I knew it was hot and dry I was still surprised by just how dry it is. Gorgeous though!
Now I have car camping envy! Our winter is just ending here in the northern hemisphere. Yet today, we had freezing fog, thunderstorms, hail, sun and several bouts of snow. I recently returned from the coast of California where I did a lovely 4 day backpack. Next week, I hope to do a quick overnight with a nice hike. Yet, the comforts of car camping in less than perfect weather just seems like the most amazing thing to squeeze in. Thank you and cheers!
Having watched you & Abel/Victoria & Tony. I sometimes wonder does it ever NOT rain in NZ? Day light savings, nah we don't have that here in QLD - makes the curtains fade too fast!
Ha ha, yes it certainly would appear that way. But in reality all three of us are heading out in the same weather systems, after waiting out a week or two of sunny clear days.
Wow, you in a tent. You looked very comfortable and cooking a great dinner. I am not a fan of camping ing the rain but when it does rain the sound on the tent is amazing. Stay safe.
I so enjoy the way you laugh at your own mistakes.lol Such a. Joyful lady. If one way doesn't work you figure out what does. If at first you don't succeed try try again. Love watching. Love you my friend. Salute from The U.s.À.❤️❤️❤️❤️
Im so glad you do an "easier" camp once in a while. Its a lot of work to set up and take down. Then to film it on top of that. Thank you so much. Ill be off on my own outdoor experience now. Not sure ill film it, i always say i will, then nothing happens.
You didn't have to put any of the sides down at all. What you could have done, is raise the center point of the awning up and you could use your hiking pole by putting a folded cloth/washcloth at end of it to protect the awning material from tears. And that acts as a really nice solution.
You are quite right, I certainly thought about that. Unfortunately my hiking pole does extend high enough. I thought about hunting for a branch from the forest, but in the end decided I din't want something sitting in the middle of my accessway. Although my solution blocked some of the view so not great either (lol).
Such a roomy tent! And you got it for $150?! A steal! I do agree with you that sometimes it’s really nice to car camp at a nice place and enjoy a little extra luxury while being outdoors. Really enjoyed the video! Thanks!
Nice camp and nice tent. tony of ABCamping has one of the Zempire air tents and he had the same complaint about the awning on that tent. Exact same issue, different tent.
Oh that is interesting. I knew Tony had (atleast one) Zempire air tent, but didn't realise he had found the same issue. I am looking for an air tent or something quick to set up on my own so will bear that in mind. Cheers

Hi Thomas. I think I might have given up too quickly on the tin, there probably was something in the car that would have helped me win that fight. Imagine the viewing spectacle of me with spanner vs determined tin (lol). I hear you about the mulling. I have learnt to love my own company and to be at peace with my thoughts. Some people find being alone hard as they don't like to be alone with their thoughts.'Predator' ha ha, yes the tiny measly mouse. Those little vermin decimate our little native birds. I was delighted though to hear so much bird song in that area. Perhaps we are winning the fight, even though I have seen mice there both times I have visited. I hope you have a lovely day.
Humans are attempting to, hunting, trapping and poisoning. We have introduced species that cause problems, such as chamois, deer, wallaby, rabbits, possums, goats, stoats, weasels, rats, wild pigs, etc. In some cases one was brought in to control another, only to become the next problem.
Better still I'll give you a great tip that you can apply any time another person's behaviour offends you or does not align with your values.... do not engage with it.
