- Acrylic pouring with glue and water really is the easiest acrylic pour to do as a beginner. Glue is cheap, easy to find, is super simple to clean up, works well with silicone oil, and creates some pretty amazing acrylic pours.
With a glue acrylic pour you get to create the beautiful paintings without breaking the bank.

David, Tell me, what do you think about Micheal's craft glue? Is it good to use with another good quality medium??
@@doloresdrury8018 I use that almost exclusively for my glue now.
I use glue and water for my pouring medium and its so easy.
Nice colors. I love that U explain things, whoich is why I keep coming back to see ur videos the most
I appreciate that!
Ok, I'm going to focus today on making cells with some swiping. 😂😂😂😂
The fun part is picking out the colors. David, your videos are very informative. I am so glad to have them as a reference. 🎉😁✌🏼🎨 11:47

Hi David! Love those colors together...not something I would have picked out but they honestly work really well on the tile!
I think so too! I was pleasantly surprised.
I really love your work sir, im ruel from Phil's a lot of artist doing this kind of art but I mostly learn from you tutorials. Nice👍

I liked your flip cup technique with the Glue-All. I got the materials and I'm ready to try the new medium. I do like the Floetrol though. That was what I tried first. Thank you.
Awesome. Let me know how it goes.
I followed your directions to the letter and didn't get one cell. What am I doing wrong???
Wow the result was amazing 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🦋
TYVM. It was fun to actually get the result I was looking for. Not something that happens a lot in acrylic pouring. Probably why I like it so much.
Wow so easy, thank you!
Happy to help! Just needs a little process to follow and the majority of the work is done.
David, you have been my right hand man today! Awesome pour btw. You dont see many do pours on tile. If they are glossy finish, does the paint stay on, are these made only for to hang? SO MANY QUESTIONS! I have watched almost all of your videos today! I have learned more from you than all other artist put together. Thank you for all the help.
Yes, I don't have any problem with the paint sticking to the glossy tile as long as it was very clean.
it is beautiful
Thanks Angeline. These definitely turned out really nice.
Thanks so much really appreciate

This is wow. Awesome bro 😊
Thank you so much Bhavithra 😀
Have you tried doing a dutch pour with glue? Does it give good result?
Ok...this is the third video I have seen saying that glue-all is amazing for cells, BUT in every video all 3 artists used silicone drops in the paint as well. My problem with this is that everyone knows you will get cells with silicone 100% of the time. So, it only stands to reason that none of these videos prove that glue-all, or any type of glue, produces cells. I am an acrylic artist of 26 years who has been pouring off n on for several years...maybe 4 🤔 And I just haven't dedicated enough time into creating my own pour medium so I spend a lot of time watching different artists experiments. I think you're brilliant and I especially enjoy your test recipes, most recently your bloom technique without all of the extra ingredients. I just don't understand why so many artists are saying glue creates great cells when they are using silicone at the same time 🤔 I pray you have an incredibly blessed and beautiful day!
There is no medium I have found that makes this type of very circular and large cells by itself. Floetrol will make small cells or misshapen cells when very thin. Glue gets used with silicone because it holds the shape better than any other medium when using silicone.
You are wonderful 😊
😊 thank you Jeannie.
beautifull .......................tk
Thanks Jeanne. Glad to help.
I've been using the glue all pouring medium for 6months, just switched to artist loft pouring medium for 2 weeks. I gotta say I still like the glue all better. Gotta try liquitex pouring medium still. But i think it depends on the type of pour you choose and what you personally like still in the end!!
Thanks for all your experimenting. Helps me to avoid test you've already done and come up with my own.
This is 100% true

I have mixed up all the "glue/water" and paint. I am now going out to my studio and hope I get something wonderful like you did. Question: Does glue water paint need some time to sit before using it? What do you clean you paintings off that you use silicone in? Thanks for your wonderful videos, love your thorough explanation.
If you pour immediately you'll get a few more pinholes as it dries (trapped tiny air bubbles). But those don't bother me and my patience is super low so I never work about them. Hope that helps Terrie.
Did you not use a pillow? Is this because you're using a tile or the type of pouring you're doing? Thanks for helping all of us newbies!
No. Pillow is a confusing term unfortunately. That should only be used when referring to the latex paint base used in the Sheleeart bloom technique and maybe the ghost cells or the methods that Sarah Taylor uses. I explain a bit about that in this video - ruclips.net/video/FxpCka0OwJw/видео.html
Everything else just uses a base coat which is the same paint mix that gets used in the painting.
Hi ;
Nice painting, can you please let me know that we can only mix the medium pouring paint with glue or we can mix glue with other paints also?
Thanks for your time!
You mix glue with paint. the glue is the pouring medium in this case.
Beautiful pour! I just started today and used pre-mixed acrylic pour paints from Arteza & another company. Not bad for a first pour. Would love to show you for feedback. Let me know if I can and how I can do that. After pouring today, I think I have to learn how to mix the paints with pouring mediums bec pre-mixed tend to be expensive. Am from Manila so I hope I can get those gallon sized Elmer's Glue All here. Again, thank you for sharing all your learnings. I am learning a lot from your videos.
You can go to the website and use the contact form leftbrainedartist.com. Premixed are definitely way more expensive.
FYI any strong glue will generally work. Just don't use school glue because it isn't as strong and is usually much thinner than regular glue for easy cleanup.
@@LeftBrainedArtist can't seem to access your website... weird
And this is on a kitchen/bath tile? ... omgooodness, love it so much!!! What did u seal it with if u don't mind me for asking?
If they are for decoration just an acrylic varnish. If they are made in to coasters than heat resistant resin.
I appreciate all you do for us, thank you!!
Here’s my issue. I do large flip cups. I let them cure for about 6 weeks. When I wash them off with either dishwashing soap or laundry soap ( I only use drops at a time) the paint gets very tacky and I can see bare canvas spots. Have you ever experienced this? Also do you have an alternative way to clean off the silicone? Thank you.
Paint the canvas first and let it dry. Then pour over that. This will ensure you have colors where the silicone pushes the paint away. You could also dry using thin base coast (wet) and then doing the flip cups on that so you have a layer of paint that the new paint with silicone sites on top of.
Cleaning silicone is tricky business. Especially with glue as it can unharden with water. I have started using face wipes or Windex but just a teeny tiny bit. You don't want your rag or the painting to get visibly wet.
The tackiness shouldn't be a problem as you should always be putting a UV varnish/finish on to any work you are wanting to keep or sell.
You are my "go-to" person for answering my stupid questions. I see it a lot, mix 70% glue to 30% water - but my non-logical brain has a hard time figuring that out. If someone would say you use x amount of grams, or ounces of each, then I could grasp it. Sorry, if that sounds silly.
Not at all. I usually start with 70 grams and 30 grams. That means you ultimately have 100 grams (about 3 ounces) of medium which would normally mix with about 50 grams of paint (1 1/2 ounces) and that makes approximately 150 grams or 5 ounces of mixed paint plus whatever water you add. You add and subtract from there.
@@LeftBrainedArtist Okay! So I did do it right. I just couldn't wrap my head around the details, but I thought I did it right.
I enjoyed your work I learn alot from you, I am a beginner so I am trying to get things right. So I am using a lot of paint and canvas. Can tell me how I can reuse the canvas, how can I get out the paint. I am living in Trinidad and the products are very very expensive. Thank you in advance
You can either scrape the paint off after you pour and before it dries or you can let it completely dry and just paint again over the top of the first painting (which is now dry).
One thing I learned with trial and error, Is it pays to buy the better product's Paint's and mediums. It actually saves me money and and Grief..LOL...
SO TRUE! This is the hardest thing for me to get people to see. Craft paints, other than the specialty ones like the metallic etc., are just not worth it.
@@LeftBrainedArtist I guess there a good starters, But after all the fails and not understanding why? I had my moment of clarity when I started buying the better quality..Wallah.
Sir, I watched your amazing videos and I loved all . Can I use fevicol instead of Elmers glue and which ratio...
I would assume you can just looking at what that is. I would try 1 : 1 with paint first then add water. See how that works. If the paint quality is really good you could go up to 2 : 1 but know the colors will be slightly lighter as the glue has white pigment in it looks like.
Thank you so much sir
I will try and I have any queries in will ask you... thank you again
Hi there! I use masters touch paint. That’s what my local store carries. It’s nice seeing others use it. What’s funny is I’ve not seen the pink/purple color or the peachy pink. Could be different from their actual colors. Rouge and pink is what you just said. Hmmm maybe I have seen them. Ok. Whatever. But honestly, what do you think about masters touch? I truly want your opinion. And I do believe you are the guy to give me an honest opinion!! Glue is soooooooooooo much easier to mix than floetrol isn’t it!?! Gosh!!!! Lake blue and ocean green are two colors I have as well :) there’s your “fun” fact for the day. Lol.
Also, I’m surprised how well those colors mixed! They look nice!
Master's Touch has worked well for me. It is not the best out there but definitely better than most craft paint and on part with other student level acrylics (which that level almost all I use).
What was #1 and #2 choices. Great job! Beginner without a clue. . .
I honestly don't remember from this video. I'll have to rewatch and figure it out again. 8)
Wherever can I get that little paint gun and other material I would love to try this please
@@jackhillis736 Amazon!
When mixing paints are you mixing by weight or volume?
Weight because I think it's easier and requires less work (filling a cleaning measurement cups) . You can do either but you need to stick with one or the other for all of the paints. Also, the more paint you make the less similar weight and volume become.
Thank you David. It looks gorgeous! I had big problem when I did it by myself. Could you please help? My Pouring Medium (water : Glue-all) ratio is 1:3. And pouring color (acrylic : Pouring Medium) is 1 : 1. My painting had very bad cracking after dry. Why? How can I prevent the cracking? Please help.
Couple of reasons. Your paint is too thin and there is too much on the canvas at the end. You don't want more than about 1 ounce per 25 square inches. I have had trouble with the bulk white from artist's loft and and Craftsmart. Adding a little bit of a professional pouring medium (1:10) or so to the glue medium can help also.
@@LeftBrainedArtist Thank you so much. I'll try again with different ratios.
What brand is that Paint?? I love that light green..
Master's Touch from Hobby Lobby I believe.
Is it ok to prepare more paint and have it in an airtight container and if yes: how long?
Depends on the water you use but normally months. I have a video with more details here - ruclips.net/video/j3DB7OQyHa8/видео.html
Hi I started with pouring but I dont get a lot of cells we dont have flootrol in south africa. I do a poring medium with 60/40 glue/water.
Very thin paint with only one metallic or do a swipe to get cells.
I purchased acrylic craft paint. Do I still use one part paint to one part glue and water for consistency then a few drops of cell activator where can I find the silicon
Craft paint is 1:1 for sure. I buy my silicone from Amazon - Spot On Treadmill Silicone - amzn.to/3ewnCw4 (affiliate link)
Thank you very much I'm trying to get something nice for Christmas presents small town gal two stoplites small had to call in a 45 to 50 mile radius to fine the glue. I'll order the silicon asap thank you for your time
where does the silicon oil get in? where do u get it? how important is it? my first ever project will be a 1x7ft service bar top.
If you are going to resin over that I would not put silicone in. I buy my silicone from Amazon. Spot-On treadmill (or pouring) silicone. I use it in my colors about one small drop per two ounces of mixes paint.

I’m brand new to this amazing art but I’m confused about what’s the best ingredients to use. The 70 percent glue to 30 percent water ...is that used to mix in with the paint alone or I’ve also heard 1:1 ratio of paint and pouring medium. Also I would like to have the paint medium and paint pre mixed in large bottles. I feel very confused and I am grateful for any advice from anyone!! Oh and if someone knows how to mix and paint so I don’t have total mud! Every thing I have made looks ok until I start tilting the canvas and then it somehow turns to muddy and I have to start over. Thanks in advance to anyone that has advice or ideas for me!
Low quality paint (craft paint) you do 1:1, medium quality paint (tube paint and student paint) is 1:2 or 1:3. Heavy body high quality paint is more like 1:3+.
The mud is probably because your paint is too thin or you are putting colors that are complimentary right next to each other. I'd say the stuff is too thin though.
Same here im just starting im confused to much info
What brand silicone oil do you use? I've watched SO many of your videos that I have forgotten where I may have seen that info 🤔
Spot On Treadmill or pouring silicone. - amzn.to/3ogA3LK (this is an affiliate link)

i wanna ask again, can i use pva glue ?
in my country in indonesia we dont have glue like u use. i’ve found pva at the craft store and regular white-school glue.
Yes, PVA glue works. So does clear glue and white glue but you'll have to test your brands to make sure.
I’m going to do a pour on 36x48 using a lot of reds What is the best way to prevent paints from running together and getting muddy?
Use thicker paint, use Liquitex or Golden pouring medium, or make sure the colors that are side by side are going to mix to new colors that you want to see and not muddy colors. (Complimentary colors on he color wheel created brown or grey).
@@LeftBrainedArtist thank you for the information and such a quick reply.
Hi, since I am starting very carefully, do you think that cardboard is ok for pouring? I mean the one from the very amazon boxes, i have used it already but it gets "wrinkly" since it gets too wet...any suggestion for upcycling other things? Thanx a lot..
You could use cardboard if you seal it really well first. Same with canvas boards. I usually go to the thrift store and buy wood and platters and things for dirt cheap to paint on Maddalena.
@@LeftBrainedArtist hi in Italy we don't really have thrift stores..
@@maddalena5708 do you have charity shops? Where you can find second hand goods? That's the same type of thing as a thrift shop.
No, in Italy not really,.
@@maddalena5708 ah ok. I'm not sure what to suggest for that then, sorry.
Does the brand of PVA glue matters (as Elmer's is somewhat more expensive than generic brand PVA glue so wondering abt using generic pva glue)?
I have had the best success with Elmer's. I always buy a gallon from from the hardware store which is usually $15. The price of the smaller containers varies more. I don't like school glue at all but I don't see why you couldn't use the non-school glue or the clear glue also.
@@LeftBrainedArtist Thxs :)
I am a beginner , for the base color , can we use paint mix with water only , or if added with floetrol how many Oz to use .
Use the same paint mixture you use for the rest of the colors. Paint with only water is actually more expensive than using a pouring medium if you calculate the cost per ounce. I show that in my video here - ruclips.net/video/MhEd533vqig/видео.html
Hello I'm new here... If I don't have silicone what can I substitute to have more cells.
A tiny bit of 91% isopropyl alcohol (drops) or personal lubricant (also silicone) or hair serum that is 100% dimethicone all work. A small spray of WD-40 (silicone auto spray) works also. The cells aren't quite the same but if you are in a pinch it works.
@@LeftBrainedArtist thank you so much.
How do I know when I've tilted enough? I keep having such a thick layer on my canvas but that may be because I use too much paint. Advice please
Two important pieces to this I would say Denise:
1) know how much paint you need up front. If you know you use the right amount of paint you can stop whenever you have coverage and you like your composition. Try using my acrylic pour paint calculator to help hone in one the right amount of paint leftbrainedartist.com/calculator.
2) When you don't have obvious section of paint that are moving much faster than the rest of the canvas when you are tilting you are probably ok to stop.
@@LeftBrainedArtist thank you
I am just beginning and using craft paint, what ratio of the glue all medium would you recommend?
1:1 with craft paints. 1:2 -> 1:4 with student/medium body paints (paint:medium).
LeftBrainedArtist - thank you. And it’s a 7:3 glue:water ratio, correct? I am so new that my “real” supplies will be here tomorrow. I’ve been messing around with some old paints and stuff, but they are not good quality anymore. I have been like a kid on Christmas Eve all day. I think it’s why I woke up at 2am. But I have been getting things set up so when the supplies get here I can mix and go! I expect lots of ‘crazy woman’ laughs, huge messes and beautiful art! I might forget to make food if I’m not careful.
yes 70% glue and 30% water is a great starting point. You can add a little more water if you want your paints thinner after mixing with the medium. Also, the crazy laughs, huge messes and beautiful art is what I live for. That's why this is such a fun and therapeutic art form.

What did you use to create cells?
Silicone. 1 drop per 2 ounces of paint.
What kind of oil did you add for the cells?
Silicone Oil. I used treadmill silicone oil from spot on but most silicone oils will do - Spot On Treadmill Silicone - amzn.to/3ewnCw4
With the 70/30 ratio, how much paint do you use?
2 parts medium to 1 part paint for most student acrylics. Arteza you can get away with up to 5 or so parts pouring medium.
I have a question about using glue as a pour medium. Someone posted about using glue as a pouring medium. She swears by it. BUT she mixes glycerin with it. Have you heard of this? Will it work with silicone oil? Does it help with cracking with the glue? Thank you.
Glue works great with silicone. Glycerine is added to break the surface tension to help more cells form. It will not help if you are getting cracking. 90% of the cracking problems I have seen people have is because they thin their paint too much or they use low quality white paint which made of chalky powders and causes cracking.
I have the tacky glue. Will thatcwork?
No. It dries too fast and does't flow well.
Can I use a humid paper to create cells ??
Yes Khiat. The problem I have found with paper is it tears easily so you'll have to test that first.
@@LeftBrainedArtist Okey thank you so much
@@LeftBrainedArtist with 70/30 ratio (2/3) I use 1/3 paint ?! And add silicone oil ?
i have tried with glue as a pouring medium but I dont get any cells at all, even with silicone oil
Can you tell me your paint mixing ratios and how much oil you are putting in to each cup of paint?
What kind of torch do I use?
I use a Sondiko torch from Amazon or a heat gun.
Sondiko Torch - amzn.to/38zeI93
Heat Gun - amzn.to/3CSxHe2
What causes the spots the little cells in paint
Tiny air bubbles generally. You can leave your paints a few hours after mixing to help some natuarally release but some mediums just have more than others.
Can you do a video for making the pouring medium
I don't make my own pouring medium except with water and glue. I have a few videos about that.
Know did you add cells
In this painting I used a drop of silicone per 2 ounces of mixed paint.
Mind listing the code or names of colours that you used ;)
Pink, Rouge, Lake Blue, Ocean Green. I added them to the description too.
Do you ever list your pouring amounts
Like the mixtures that I use. I try to put them in the notes or in the video but not on every one. mostly 2 parts medium and one part paint for student level acrylics and 1 part medium and 1 part paint for craft paint. Then water to consistency.
Why did you divide the sq inches by 25?
That is the math to get the # of ounces of mixed pouring paint you need to cover that size of canvas.
what if i dont have pouring oil
You might want to review my video on paint densities which gives some insights on other ways to get cells - ruclips.net/video/o8oyjdCa9Ck/видео.html
I tried acrylic pouring painting earlier with water
Love this but how would you seal your pours on tiles ? I know you could put resin on but what other alternatives please x
Any acrylic varnish will work. If you are going to use them as coasters you nee something heat resistant.
Why does it look so dry?
Not sure. I’ll have to rewatch.
I did this recipe the other day and it was the absolute worst pour I've ever done. What do you think could have happened? The cells were awful, the paint crazed and cracked. It was muddy. Just terrible all around.
To thin and too much paint left on the canvas sounds like but hard to tell without seeing it.
@@LeftBrainedArtist it was the same consistency as yours, and I don't *think* I left too much paint on the canvas. One honestly never had that issue before. The weird thing is, I could tell as soon as I started pouring that it felt all wrong. And the paint just kind of melted on the canvas and kept spreading outward. And the cells were just all wrong.
