@Josanne, I agree! I'm so glad that I found her videos!! I love that she is doing these experiments and sharing with us! Are you a pour paint artist also? I just discovered Acrylic Pouring on 6/7/22 and I've already done 7 pour Paintings and posted 4 videos on my Channel! The first 2 were actually tempera paint pours because that's all I had. The next one was with Acrylic craft paints. The next one (6/12/22) was what I consider to be my first official one, because it was done with "real" Acrylic Paints and it turned out beautifully if I do say so myself! Lol Happy Pouring!!
Being very new to acrylic pouring - I’ve learned more from your video than from hundreds I’ve watched ! The comparison between the mediums is incredibly useful. Thank you very much for your brilliant demonstration (cuz 😁😘😂)
As a newbie this was super useful and informative. I’m in Australia and have easy access to the floetrol but am discovering that the cells can be a bit much. From your video, the water and paint combo looked the most vivid in terms of colour purity with the US floetrol adding a bit of extra interest. Thanks so much for sharing this.
Claire thank you so much for doing this experiment, it took a lot of time and effort on your part and is really appreciated. As you rightly said, art is very personal and for Dutch Pours I prefer just the water BUT with really good quality paint. Rinske Douna is a master at these pours and only uses either Windsor & Newton or Amsterdam paints. Her dutch pours are gorgeous, really etherial but not really celled. It was incredible to see how your results differed with the different products. Thank you.
Thank God you popped up on my search. I'm overwhelmed getting started with pouring regarding mediums. You are teaching me in depth and you are appreciated
I agree with you, Claire. My favourites are the ones done with the UK and US pouring mediums. Less cells than the others, but I am not a fan of a huge amount of them anyway. The colours and composition look better to me, but art is very subjective! Thank you for doing this experiment for us!
Each painting has its pros and cons. It's really in the eye of the beholder. What effect you are going for. So many flow artists copy each other and don't experiment or try to be creative on their own. The flow art technique can be used in other ways, such as for florals and landscapes. Even abstracts. Don't copy everything you see, find a way to use the flow acrylics in other kinds of art. Great tutorial on using the different products, thanks!
@Veronica, your comment was 2 months ago... I'm just curious, have you tried it yet? I hope so, it's so much fun! Even if you just start with basic supplies, it's still fun! I just discovered Acrylic Pouring on 6/7/22 and I've already done 7 pour Paintings and posted 4 videos on my Channel! The first 2 were actually tempera paint pours because that's all I had. (Dollar Tree paints, Dollar Tree canvas/panel boards) The next one was with Acrylic craft paints. The next one (6/12/22) was what I consider to be my first official one, because it was done with "real" Acrylic Paints and it turned out beautifully if I do say so myself! Lol Happy Pouring!!
Wow!! I did not mind the length because I learned so much. I like the US Floetrol and the last AU Floetrol best. But what surprised me was the water one! The softness and intensity of the paint I really liked. Thank you so much for doing this experiment 👍🏻
Thank you for the information on the different Floretrols. I definitely like the American Floetrol painting the best! The richness of the colors and distinct composition makes all the difference.
Thank you for showing this. I've never used the UK and US floetrol and despite everyone saying the Aussie floetrol is the best, I thought they're all pretty much the same. Watching this has now shown me. I'm in Australia, so it's all I use. I only use the glue and water mix for the base coat on the canvas. I find that Amsterdam paint with Aussie floetrol gives the best cell activation doing swipes. I'm glad you like our floetrol. I feel for anyone buying it overseas because they pay a lot more for it.
I think you should consider painting the canvases with one or two coats of paint prior to pouring so the texture of the canvas does not intrude so much on your otherwise lovely designs. Perhaps let the first coat fully dry, then the second coat can be wet or dry prior to the pouring. This hides a lot of spots that might also be bare under your design. Worth the time. Thanks
@@juliegriffin2255 I also saw a lot of balding, or spots of what looks like just colored canvas. Like you I also paint my canvases with either a diluted house paint or just a coat or 2 of acrylic. Loved this experiment & preferred the water over all PM. 😁
@@yvette_is_Mamacado a lot of times in life, we are trained to need and buy things that we don't actually need. That is true of PM and also in our diets. I have made paintings with and without PM (only water) and with and without other additives. One day, I used hand sanitizer because I did not have any other additives to try--just the hand sanitizer and water. The paintings that day were gorgeous. I have discovered that my paintings are the most beautiful when I say a prayer or set an intention right before pouring the paint. When I pray in gratitude, the paintings look the most beautiful.
Thank you for taking the time to create and share this video and to write out the supplies and recipes used. I wish more people were as helpful and considerate. I would have loved to see alcohol, dish soap, and hand sanitizer compared too.
I'm glad you mentioned these other additions. I'm just trying my own comparisons of pouring mediums, but haven't included these. I must add these, along with the Australian floetrol that I managed to get at huge expense (UK)!
Thanks Claire for the very useful and interesting PM comparisons. Also for the comprehensive list of paints and recipes. A lot of artists leave me guessing theirs! Very frustrating.
The cells form with just water because a lot of cell creation is based in the density of the paints (and the addition of oil such as silicone or oily pm). I hope that’s useful to others, it’s certainly helped me since I learned about this x
THANKS A LOT, CLAIRE, YOU MADE A SUPER EXCELENT WORK, IT TOOK A LOT OF TIME, EFFORT AND INFORMATION THAT YOU GOT TOGUETHER, AND YOU ARE AN AMAIZING TEACHER. I totally love the GLUE painting. Maybe not the middle bit most, but those corners are just as amazing as any of the other paintings. I would definitely do something with that painting. Add to it and enhance it a bit, keeping those corners for sure. Not a disaster at all! My next favorite is the one with the water. Like you said, it flows so smoothly.
Claire, thank you so much! I'm from Greece and I only have access to Owatrol. I'm new on this and I'm trying to find the recipe that will work for me. I just used your recipe and I'm thrilled! I finally have both cells and laces in the ratio I like! ❤❤❤
Absolutely agree with you that it’s not all about numbers of cells!! My favourite look was the USA floe and uk and i really liked the water end result!!! Xx
I'M new at Arts and want to try pouring . I bought a bottle of pouring ,only lasted for 2 small paintings.....These products are very costly so we need to make sure we are buying the right products,.Almost bought a gallon of glue today. very happy I did'Nt ! Possibly the best comparison demo I've seen. Thank you. Think your biggest challenge must have been how fast the paints dried out while you were putting this together.
Hi Claire, thank you for giving us your time to do this. It was incredibly interesting. I do completely agree with you with the compositions. I hands down prefer the English and American pours, next for me would be the water pour then the Aussie. Which, being English and being very frustrated at the cost of obtaining the Aussie floetrol, has made me very happy.. However, I 100% prefer using the Aussie floetrol in my bloom recipe. The results are just too gorgeous, it's like pringles, I've popped and I can't stop!! I was going to try it in a Dutch pour but thanks to you, I don't feel I need to. 😊😊 Xxx
Thank you so much for this comparison. I'm in the US and have not been able to afford Australian or European floetrol, much to my dismay. But after seeing your results, I will happily continue with my US Floetrol, as it was my favorite in your test, as well.
Hi Clair according to Kathleen from coz creations there is Linseed oil in the Aussie floretrol. My favourite is the one with water. Thank you for taking the time to do this experiment for us. X
I’m in the U.S & have seen the difference in Aussie Floetrol,I’ve gone on their websites for the ingredients differences & it doesn’t say any of ingredients actually. How do u know this?

@@Angie-zx8ft One suggestion you might try is to decide to splurge on the Aussie Floetrol, but order it from an American supplier (PixelPaintDesigns) so you don't have to pay as much for shipping. Learned this from watching Priscilla Batzell of Expressionist Art Studio.
Thanks Claire I am gonna buy the 'Australian Flotrol' I also love the detail of the Australian Flotrol I am a person that is extremely focused on detail when it comes to my paintings
I want to say a huge thankyou for this video. I'm in Australia, a newbie to pouring and have struggled with pouring mediums. My favourite is the Dutch pour and I mixed my paints the same as Rinksa Douna. However, the humity here made all my painting crack even after being dry for 6 weeks. Also I have struggled to get cells even with silicone. Your recipe for Australian floetrol worked fantastically. I got cells although I need to thin my paints down a bit more next time . Thankyou thankyou thankyou.
Fab experiment. Thankyou. I think all too often we get caught up in a 'craze' where we all want something just because everyone else has it - currently seems to be the Aussie Flotrol. However, what this demonstrates is that it really is all about personal preference. Thankyou for spending your time showing us what each medium can do - side by side I can now see that I'm not that keen on the multi cell look, and instead if I were to invest in any, it would be the American, closely followed by the British.
Thank you Claire, you have saved me a lot of time and work and also convinced me that I do need to use a pouring medium for some projects and not just water. Like you I like the way the colours react and spread, if that’s the correct term, with just water. I am pretty new to all this and finding out new things all the time, like in a couple of sea/beach pours I have just done, I got cells and lacing with the white (Amsterdam Titanium white) over iridescent colours, not so much over the plain colours. All the paints were mixed with a pouring medium (1parts Owatrol to 2 parts water) - 1 part paint to 1 part pouring medium and then water if needed to get the right consistency. I’m very happy with them and luckily we have holiday accommodation, my experiments will grace their walls! And hopefully some will sell!😜 Thank you again, I follow Molly, Kinella and Rinske, but it’s so nice to hear a British voice, their ideas and recommendations. Jeanette
I totally agree with you on all fronts! Lots of cells with the aussie one, but I really love the UK one because I love how it almost looks like light dancing in a pool of water. The American one was also nice with the flow! You are also noticing the same thing with Metallics that I did! I just use water with them because I love the shimmer and intensity ❤ Thank you for trying them all! This was fun to watch!
I am in America, have tried using both in one painting. But not mixing them together in the same cup. 3-4x American floetrol to paint creates a terrific cell activator!
First of all, thank you for all the work you put into this very important test. I must give you lots of credit for all the mixing!. I too found it all quite interesting and yes, I agree that the American floetrol allows the paint to maintain its integrity, the colors are vivid and strong. I was interested in the water only because the colors were also very vivid.
Rinske Douna uses only water with her Amsterdam paints and always has a nice mixture of soft bloom and cells, I think... It's so pricey here in the UK to get hold of either US or Aussie Floetrol, so this makes me quite happy! Thanks for this comparison, Claire.
I have to say YAY for the USA Floetrol. 🙂 I'm in the US so that's all I have access to, but to have you say that you like it best, was amazing. I shouldn't say that it's all I have access to, because there are other types and brands of pouring mediums, but I like the Floetrol the best. I personally don't like an overwhelming amount of cells, and I'm not crazy about super large ones either. I think the big cells take away from the composition of a painting, and to many small cells seem to hide the paint, or push it out of the way. Thank you for this awesome demonstration. It was the best one I've seen, and I've watched many, and tried many as well. I Love your work, and have tried a few of your ideas, without much success, but then I'm pretty new to pouring. Eventually I'll get there, and I hope I can create masterpieces like yours someday. 🙂 God Bless, and Happy Pouring.
@Angelica, I'm a newbie so I haven't started using a torch yet. But I wanted to let you know that I've heard good things about this one: Sondiko Butane Torch S400, it's sold on Amazon. (Again, I haven't used it yet, but it's on my list and will hopefully be trying it soon. I saw it recommended on one of the Channels that I watch, but I can't remember which Channel right now.) I just discovered Acrylic Pouring on 6/7/22 and I've already done 7 pour Paintings and posted 4 videos on my Channel! The first 2 were actually tempera paint pours because that's all I had. Thank you so much for this experiment Claire. I have been struggling with Dutch Pours because our Aussie Floetrol runs riot with creating cells, as you have demonstrated, and I much prefer the minimal cell results that the American Floetrol gives. Unfortunately I have no access to the US Floetrol. Your comparison gives great insight into how the different Floetrols compare and gives a solid basis to help achieve the Dutch Pour look I am aiming for. Thank you so much, I really appreciate the effort you went to.
I totally agree with you about the composition. I am from QLD Australia and am just starting out with paint pouring. Found you were a great help in explaining the difference in each product. Thank you for the demonstration and your time which is much appreciated. Cheers Dawn
This was so awesome 👌👏. I agree, though I'm a newbie & in no place to judge, I like a balance between cells and color. So often I see an artist blow the bloom & have beautiful color..then they keep blowing and most if not all of the color disappears & it's just white..? Granted, They are still beautiful & I realize it's often a personal perspective...I still love & respect all of you & appreciate all that is brought to this forum for us trying to learn.
Thank you so much for making this video! As a newbie to pouring I try to educate myself in techniques and also how to mix my paints for pouring. I currently use US Floetrol as I'm in Canada, so this was very informative to me. I truly appreciate all the time you spend mixing and setting up for this video. I will definitely be following you and referring to this video for future pours! Thanks again.
Thanks so much for doing these comparisons, it was fascinating. I agree, I love the flood floetrol painting the most. It would be interesting to see how each one reacts with a gentle swipe, just to see the kind of lacing that appears? Great video, thanks so much.🌻
Thank you so much for doing this. I have been very confused mixing paints as the people I was following didn't mention that the Flood Floetrol is much thinner than Owetrol and I'm in the UK. I really like both the Owetrol and Floetrol pieces but I actually think the water one is really lovely too both in shape and with beautiful vibrancy of colour.x😘
I found the water one to be absolutely beautiful. But I think if you mixed 3/4 water with 1/4 floetrol, it might produce really nice results. You just need a bit of flow to help with your spread. Great video, thanks immensely!
Hi Clair, I am an Australian acrylic artist and have been using our Floetrol since I began painting 4 years ago and have great success with cells EVERY time 💃🏽🎈💃🏽
Many thanks for the comparisons. As a beginner here in the U.K. I found that web site by accident, so I bought some Australian Floetrol to try. I have tried the Owetrol, PVA and water too. I found the Australian Floetrol gave this rookie the best results so far. I am loving the Mont Marte paints too, Owetrol would be next. I haven’t tried the Flood Floetrol as it is so expensive here. Which ever you use, I am learning that the paint consistency seems to be the most important ingredient, especially in Dutch pours. Still working on that one, practice, practice, practice. Your videos are helping that process.
Thank you very much for sharing this experience. Finally an answer for those who are just starting out. I live in France and we cannot find an Australian floetrol. On the other hand the American floetrol yes. And I think I will try it because the result is very beautiful. Thank you so much !
I use both Owatrol and Liquitex Pouring Medium in my pours plus water. I find I use a lot less paint. I also put silicone oil in too. Interesting review, thanks.
I likr the Australia Flow but the American Flood is more beatufull gives you more color I'm so happy you tried this trial and error keep starting more of your post
Great experiment with all the different floetrols!! Yes floetrol does dull your paint colors 😙. The price you pay. The colors will come back to life with varnish or resin.
Thank you. Because using water allowed my painting to be more vibrant once dry and with cells. Since using floetrol my painting isn’t as vibrant anymore, but the floetrol helps stretch out my paint so that I don’t use much. I’m going to varnish them soon. Thanks

I like the American Floetrol best but love how vibrant the gold was in the water one. Thank you so much for sharing!
My favorite was the Uk, then the water, then the American...I didn't really care for the rest. Great comparison vid, thank you!
I like the results in this order, water, US and UK! Thank you for the demonstration.
Very lntresting, did need to know about medium's. which confused me, so you have sorted that one out for me Thankyou, thankyou. X
That's a very big and expensive experiment! Thanks so much for doing this for us! I just love your channel.
Great comparison of mediums. I agree with your opinions and favorites. Thank you for your extended tests. It answered all questions regarding foetrol.
And hopefully some will sell!😜
Thank you again, I follow Molly, Kinella and Rinske, but it’s so nice to hear a British voice, their ideas and recommendations.
Jeanette
I totally agree with you on all fronts! Lots of cells with the aussie one, but I really love the UK one because I love how it almost looks like light dancing in a pool of water. The American one was also nice with the flow!
You are also noticing the same thing with Metallics that I did! I just use water with them because I love the shimmer and intensity ❤
Thank you for trying them all! This was fun to watch!
Wondering if you have thought about mixing the American Floetrol with the Ausie Floetrol to see what that would do?
I would love to see the effects in that ideal
I am in America, have tried using both in one painting. But not mixing them together in the same cup. 3-4x American floetrol to paint creates a terrific cell activator!
First of all, thank you for all the work you put into this very important test.
I must give you lots of credit for all the mixing!. I too found it all quite interesting and yes, I agree that the American floetrol allows the paint to maintain its integrity, the colors are vivid and strong. I was interested in the water only because the colors were also very vivid.
My favorite is the one with the American floetrol, it’s so beautiful 💖!
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🎨😎😂
@@ketokatt5555 It's the same in Canada too. I haven't done a pour yet, but I've been stocking up on supplies. :)
The American and water are my favorite. Your colors came out strong.
Rinske Douna uses only water with her Amsterdam paints and always has a nice mixture of soft bloom and cells, I think... It's so pricey here in the UK to get hold of either US or Aussie Floetrol, so this makes me quite happy! Thanks for this comparison, Claire.
Thank you for taking the time to do this experiment. I am so pleased to have found someone in the UK 😊
Love the water one..🙂
An excellent comparison video Claire! My favorites are the American floetrol and the one with just water. Very well done!
Muy hermoso todo. Donde podre comprar el encendedor de fuego o calentador. Agradezco su ayuda . Felicidades
@Angelica, I'm a newbie so I haven't started using a torch yet.
But I wanted to let you know that I've heard good things about this one: Sondiko Butane Torch S400, it's sold on Amazon. (Again, I haven't used it yet, but it's on my list and will hopefully be trying it soon. I saw it recommended on one of the Channels that I watch, but I can't remember which Channel right now.)
Lol
Happy Pouring!!
Thank you Claire. This is very interesting.
Brilliant demo thank you ...SOOOOOOO useful !!!
Thank you for sharing Claire ❤
I agree with all your assessments. I also agree with your making sure to give the Australian floetrol a fair shake with the extra canvases. Well done.
Wonderful experiment!!!
Learned lots!! Thank you!!
Thanks so much for doing these comparisons, it was fascinating.
I agree, I love the flood floetrol painting the most.
It would be interesting to see how each one reacts with a gentle swipe, just to see the kind of lacing that appears?
Great video, thanks so much.🌻
Thanks for working through this Claire. I appreciate your take on pouring mediums!
Very interesting, very surprised that the water worked. Thanks 🙏
Thank you x
Claire, an amazing video, thank you so much for sharing this process! Best wishes, Laura xx
I love the water one with the more vibrant colors. They are all beautiful 🥰
Great comparison! Thank you! ♥️
Long, but very informative and appreciated. Thank you.
That was interesting. I do agree with your choives.
Thank you so much for doing this, Claire. 🙏 This is very helpful and I agree with you completely on your verdict. You are awesome! ✨🥰
I found the water one to be absolutely beautiful.
But I think if you mixed 3/4 water with 1/4 floetrol, it might produce really nice results. You just need a bit of flow to help with your spread.
Great video, thanks immensely!
Hi Clair, I am an Australian acrylic artist and have been using our Floetrol since I began painting 4 years ago and have great success with cells EVERY time 💃🏽🎈💃🏽
Th water its a dream, the petals are very beautiful shaped!
My favourites are the 1st uk 2nd the Australian and 3rd American.
😀😍💖👍XX
Hi Leslie, where did you find American flood floetrol in the UK? I’d love to get it. I’m in the Midlands. Thanks very much
@@uriurg9857 apologies I have never tried the American Floetrol. It is too expensive.
Thank you! Love them all!
Thanks for the lessons…I like them all….❤
Thank you. I really enjoyed watching the comparisons. So much work has gone into it and we all appreciate that.
Thank you very much for sharing this experience. Finally an answer for those who are just starting out. I live in France and we cannot find an Australian floetrol. On the other hand the American floetrol yes. And I think I will try it because the result is very beautiful. Thank you so much !
Merci pour vos conseils qui seront bien utiles
Thank you for your comparisons of Flotral and pm , very interesting results I think that OZ floetrol is for cells only
very interesting and helpful
Fabulous! Thanks for doing the hard work of experimenting. 👌🏻👏🏻
American flow is my favorite and like water too. Thanks for the experiment!
I totally agree. Thanks for doing this.
I use both Owatrol and Liquitex Pouring Medium in my pours plus water. I find I use a lot less paint. I also put silicone oil in too. Interesting review, thanks.
quite the long video but definitely one we needed! thank you so much for this
I likr the Australia Flow but the American Flood is more beatufull gives you more color I'm so happy you tried this trial and error keep starting more of your post
Thanks
