  • Hello my Creative Friends,
    Todays video shows a way for you to make beautiful art with only PVA and primary colours.
    A great tutorial for those just starting out, and wondering if fluid art is for them.
    First part of the clip we make the homemade PVA based pouring medium.
    Then we mix our red, blue and yellow paints to consistency.
    And then we do a flip cup and dirty pour and watch the magic happen.
    This was lots of fun and I hope it helps you gain the courage to get your pouring on!

      Yes- this is great option for using with children, I’d even try s craft glue that’s washable for using with children/ just to be sure and on the safe side!

    Great to see Aussie painters :)
    What I saw in the pouring medium you made was it was like a pancake batter with the consistency being 'at trace' in soap making :D
    Making some fresh PM today so I can paint tomorrow, I have to shake the gunk that is around 'out there' currently and be inspired again.
    Thanks.

    Hi, thanks... I'm new to using pva glue and just bought this brand (parfix) from Bunnings yesterday. Ive been using strait pouring mnefium and or floetrol. I have a couple of questions... Did u add silicone to the paint in the video and what would you say the approx ratio of global paint to water was when you mixed up the paint before adding the pva pm. Also do you do a 50/50 mix of the mixed paint and pouring med (glue and water) before you pour? Thanks. I watched whole vid so thanks for putting this up on youtube.

    I'm sure you thought of this, but I pour my water into the empty glue container to get every drop of glue. Nowadays everything is so expensive, I like to conserve as much as possible.
    Also, the same with the empty paint containers if I'm adding water anyhow. One drop of paint/glue saved is a penny earned...

    Most others just pour it in the container and shake it. Then pound it on something to get rid of the air or let it sit days before using it

    How does this mix hold up over time? Is it archival? No yellowing in the sun?

    • @ArtMaggikwithMaggie
      @ArtMaggikwithMaggie  5 лет назад +1

      Cheryl Berry it’s a mix used for practising and fun. I’ve never seen it yellow up- I’ve been using it for over 2 years. The glue doesn’t have a uV additive in it. If making a piece of art to sell- I wouldn’t recommend using this mix- just use floetrol straight up or a professional pouting medium. This alternative is to help keep costs down in Australia where floetrol is $54 for 4 litres and Global pouring medium is (Australia brand pouring medium) is even more expensive.

    You mixed the colours with water in the video. Did you pour the colour into some medium or the other way around? And what was the ratio of colour to medium? I've had trouble with the mix foaming in the past and want to get it right.

    • @ArtMaggikwithMaggie
      @ArtMaggikwithMaggie  5 лет назад

      Robyn Andrews
      1: if your past mix foamed- (don’t know why) just let it sit for a few hours til the bubbles go down. Maybe you stirred too vigorously?
      2: in this pour the paint to pouring medium ratio is about 2 parts pouring medium to one part paint. I eyeballed my measurements- it’s really ok if it’s not a acutely measured.
      3: I poured the pouring medium into the paint, however as long as you mix it well, it won’t matter the order. Make sure you scrape the sides of the container.
      Pouring is not an accurate art form, this video is really a guideline and to help you feel informed and confident to embark on your own journey and beginning the never ending way of mixing and creating.
      Good luck and may the paint pour in your favour!

      @@ArtMaggikwithMaggie Thank you. It was strange that only the white paint foamed and seemed to separate, even after letting it sit. I poured anyway and it gave an interesting texture. I'm just beginning, so I ask lots of questions. I'm starting by pouring acrylics as it is cheaper than resin. I'm hoping to do a resin class next year if it rains enough to get off farm.

    • @ArtMaggikwithMaggie
      @ArtMaggikwithMaggie  5 лет назад

      sometimes yes and sometimes o - it depends on the technique. Paint on the canvas though helps the poured paint move around more freely.
