- This is a loose guide to the Hunter campaign in Rain World, set to a low-skill all-objective run I performed personally. It's geared toward intermediate players who have beaten at least one of the other campaigns and are having trouble taking that next step. The narrative also assumes that the player has at least some rough idea of what Hunter mode is all about, and otherwise possesses a decent knowledge base concerning game mechanics and general geography, so some basics may not be explained.

i always go to sky islands first, it's closer to where hunter spawns and the path to outskirts is near impossible to rush through in one cycle
Fantastic guide! Also, a humble request: when you've had your initial fun with Downpour, it'd be amazing if you posted guides for some of the new slugcats. Whichever ones you find to be the least accessible/intuitive
Depending on how radically it changes things, I may make a Hunter sequel as well.
@@yumenonaka5257 That's honestly amazing to hear! Just going from the footage seen so far, I'd imagine Artificer (and maybe Saint) will be the new "hard" modes. At one point you mentioned a difficulty ordering by the Devs, is there a link to that available somewhere?
I think I heard about it in the Rain World Discord a while back, and I’m not sure I could hunt it down. It was just one specific person on the team who gave their own subjective ranking, but I think it was someone particularly involved with it like AndrewFM.

I tried the jumps around 27:11 for several hours with no luck, even using rocks/spears for extra distance.
In the end, on a whim I tried using mushrooms, and that gave me way more jump distance! I knew they slowed down time but didn't realise they seem to kinda lower the gravity also.

This is helping so much! I'm playing along with you lol. Great video as well, I love how you don't just explain what you're doing in your run, but you explain game mechanics like lizards, what the green neuron and the pearl are for, and how scavengers work. Definetley the most helpful I've seen for beating hunter.

This happened to me seconds before taking a "don`t smash the keyboard" break, only to see this happen to the poor guy too. What`s worse is that it`s literally the last jump until the shelter...

I can understand the message that Hunter isn't as difficult as people make it out to be in many ways, but I also can't even make it to the second shelter shown in this video without losing all my karma so I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to beat it lol. Still trying because I think I saw that some of the Downpour slugcats need hunter to unlock, but it's going to be a looooooong process
thank god for this!! i was really struggling and this helped me figure out a better mindset for taking on Hunter as well as a bunch of great tips.
I am right in the middle of Sky Islands now but sadly no karma for the echo, but I'm just gonna see how far I can get (and hopefully pick up the Canopy echo on my way to 5P). I hope I can clear the mode once in vanilla before Remix hits on consoles, and in the future I hope I can take care of all of the Hunter missions!!
One thing I'm debating right now, though, is if maybe I should have gone down to Outskirts instead of taking the Sky Island path. This mode is really kicking my ass! But it's such a fun change after completing Survivor and Monk.

There is only one objection: at 15:50 you said that green lizard was the weakest when it's actually the biggest, meanest, healthiest and most lethal(per bite) type after the red lizard. It's just slow and not very interested in hunting slugcats.
Yeah, poor choice of words. Should have said something like "least overall capable."

Great guide, thank you! I have a tip for the jump you start at 11:18: if you go to the flat ground slightly further left, you can do a backflip, land into a roll, and jump out of the roll on top of the pile and make it consistently to the first pipe. It's a mechanic I've been practicing in general for a while and I really struggled with that jump the "normal" way before I tried the roll method.

Vultures absolutely spawn in the room right after the karma gate in sky islands and was pretty much my first death on hunter
My first time as hunter I spawned in and went into the next room and there was a king vulture and giant centipede fighting and I instantly knew I was out of my league LMAO
Thanks for making this I've recently started hunter and I've had a few times where I'm not sure how I'm gonna get to the important areas within the cycles that I'm given.

That moment at 15:37, you actually got set free for a single moment and just didn't get away.
I came here having just after completing the game for the first time ever. I saw only 2 echoes on my first run with over 100 cycles. I think I only killed a single lizard on my whole playthrough and just ran from the rest .I'm looking at hunter as nigh impossible. But I am a bit of an optimist and came here to try to be as prepared as I can to accept losing. I got to expand my idea of a fail state to entire runs than just bad runs between shelters.
I was following this guide and I literally got a KING vulture in farm arrays
"hard coded" to not have vultures in farm arrays:

Five pebbles says when he holds the neuron that he can make use of one or two of the slag keys as well
I love see now to do this run, and knowing my spawn rates were absolutely bad (I have to restart my run 3 times cause I died. So many times before getting to sky island) also cyan lizards, I got them mainly on the wall in survivor
4:52 While watching this guide I was attacked by a Vulture while crossing through one of the beginning area. I might have something to do for how long I keep the game paused for at the beginning of the game.
I feel like I'm going insane, but I just can't believe that the jump at 27:12 isn't edited. The hunter simply lands outside of the arc of the jump. Furthermore, there is no footage of the narrator eating a mushroom before

After playing for about 8 hours and not getting past sky islands without needing to sleep over and over for food, just coming to watch instead :') Definitely a skill issue but I will still blame the switch frame rate a bit.
i just unlocked hunter after being talking to big sis moon and not ascending cuz screw that
but this is so helpful im trying to a no death run so when downpour comes on the switch I have tons of stuff open

Not sure if you're still playing but I just started. Use flying squids or mushrooms. Also lookup throw boosting if you haven't already

i'd say i'm pretty good at fighting in rain world, though the biggest thing i've killed was a king vulture that was already half dead from scavs, and the most things i've killed in 1 cycle was 20 things (I was trying to get the outlaw and got a little to crazy about getting it lmao)
vultures do spawn in sky island after the gate but i think they're rare. i've had a few that fucked up my whole run :(

@@oogle9444 I tried doing that but it just didn't seem to work. What did work though was eating a shroom right before doing the super jump.
when i went through drainage as survivor literally the only den i found was the one at the subterranean karma gate so i went through the whole area in one cycle lmao
That jump at 27:11 is impossible on Nintendo Switch. I went back and grabbed a white squidcada and finally made it.
Do you play with controller? Or keyboard? Bc your like, REALLY good at wall climbing!
Also, does hunter jump farther? Bc I remember climbing up to the place with those yellow lizards, and survivor could never make that jump, id have to use a spear to catch myself. Awesome guide btw, helped alot!

You can, and if you don't care about the aquamarine pearl or don't think it'll be useful to you, this is probably your smartest option.
I went to outskirts first on my first one,kinda wished I went to sky island:/but I am doing great, also the best food u can get would be lizards,other then the red
I absolutely CANNOT make the jump at 27:14, can someone help?
Enter the crouching position and hold jump until the Slugcat’s back is arched, then hold the A or D depending on which direction you are going to pounce. After you release the jump button and in air throw objects for boosting. You can throw two stones for maximum distance. Also, make sure you are as close to the edge as possible.
Or you can just eat a mushroom to slow down time and jump across with ease.
Make sure your throwing something forward immediately after jumping, it seems silly but that is required to gain extra distance
kinda late question: Why not go from shoreline direwctly to subteranean?
I believe the reason he doesn't go from shoreline to sub is because this is on the PS4, where downpour (which adds that gate) was yet to be released for that console.

i read somewhere that there's no ending to the hunter in pc, is that true?
I do kill Scavangers on occasion because some of them have terrible aim but instigate anyways, and if Im very lucky I can kill an entire group
(I find that works out okay, since presumably no one is left alive to talk about it)

how do you manage getting around with one hand full w the green neuron?
The back spear helps, since he can cycle that spear into his main hand after throwing whatever’s already in there. In that regard you can still throw two spears even with the off hand clogged up, or if up against a lizard head-on, you can throw a rock first and then quickly load the back spear.
but how do i get to moon-
6:19-6:20. This fucking jump is the most infuriating thing i ever done. I procede to die every fucking time because the character stay too low or because the distance is not millimetrical. Half of the tries i died only because of it
