@waweva Hihi, ask him: he says he's a bass-baritone. The interesting thing is, that despite his "uncategorised" singing, he can sing bass roles AND high notes (just as you've said). And his low notes are quite perfect for a man who can also hit the high baritone notes. I adore him.

Quant à cette performance? Ce n'est pas sa meilleure, évidemment. Sa voix a perdu de sa jeunesse, quoi de plus naturel, de plus humain!!! Faut-il pour autant vouer tout ce qu'il fait et tout ce qu'il est aux gémonies? Je trouve de nombreux jugements à l'emporte pièce livrés ici pour le moins injustes sinon cruels... Per me, rispetto e ammirazione per il Maestro ed una bella persona!
Son interprétation ne peut souffrir de reproches, mais je trouve que sa voix manque d'étoffe pour ce rôle surtout dans le grave .Mais il est vrai que lorsqu' on a entendu tous ses grands aînés qui ont défendu ce rôle la mémoire reste prisonnière d' une empreinte que l 'on voudrait entendre reproduire., ce qui est peut être partisan.

l'asino del vilaggio di mia nonna ha un volume di voce più grande,è un fatto. un cantante lirico canta attraverso il proprio lato artistico e la bellezza divina della sua voce. il volume non conta, è la bellezza divina della voce che fa delle meraviglie. io lo trovo stonato e che sta cantonando con la corda del baritono. era un segreto mondiale che Abbado non conosceva le voci e per questa ragione quando faceva audizionare dei cantanti chiedeva l'opinions di una persona di fiducia. che triste sorte uno dei migliori direttori d'orchestra nn aveva orecchio per la bellezza divina dello strumento ''voce lirica'' .
You cant compare all opera singers form different types like saying a certain tenor is better than a certain baritone, theyre different things. Its like saying a football defender is better than an attacker. Each has his job, therefore there is not best opera singer of best footballer. There is a best bass-baritone and a best attacker..etc.

Siepi. Siepi, Siepi every time!!! I love Raimondi and his interpretation and phrasing are great but his voice is not for this role. He just doesn't have the real basso voice with deep resonance.

A parte che non ha le corde del basso, e questo credo sia stato ampiamente detto e ridetto. Per cui...perchè cantare quest'aria.... Detto questo, per me Raimondi poteva cantare solo dietro ad un microfono. Non aggiungo altro.
I like Raimondi a good deal, especially as an actor... but he's no bass. He is a lazy baritone. Look at how great he is in Falstaff and other baritone parts, but he is just OK doing Filippo. He should have developed his high Gs and As and been a Verdi baritone!
his voice is so light , high notes are boring, the low notes are boring , doesn't even give the impression of a bass voice, but a maybe boring baritone voice
