  • Advice on growing a RUclips channel in 2024. Growing a gaming channel on RUclips is very tough! These are ways to be a successful gaming RUclipsr following my SUPER SIMPLE 3 STEP PROCESS TO HACK THE ALGORITHM :)
If you want to grow as a RUclipsr, it takes a lot of time and patience. You are NOT hacking the RUclips algorithm and going viral overnight. You must instead focus on building a community of like-minded people who enjoy a particular topic(s).
    Video summarised:
Impressions, Clicks & Watch Time = growth
A normal video that real people enjoy = good video
Utilise role modelling to improve your content
    Make your videos background noise

Awesome video. I am small RUclipsr, and I think that for small channels the most important thing is to get good presence from the beginning. If you are not popular, people won't care even if you have the best videos and the best content on platform. I am not beginner anymore, but I know how hard it can be (and honestly if I didn't use a lot of Fame- ster, I would have quit a long time ago. It made everything much easier for me, especially getting to 1000 subs and view hours).

Thank you so much for making this video! My son is sixteen and he wants to be a full time RUclips creator, but he's lazy. I sent him this with a reminder that if he REALLY wants to be a RUclipsr then he HAS to work, it's not just going to fall into his lap.

Thank you for NOT saying that you need to upload a video every day. So many people in their “grow your channel” guides recommend this, and I hate that advice. If you have any responsibilities, such as work or children, it’s just not possible without sacrificing quality in a big way. Do I want to make this a full time job and make money? Yes! Do I have the time to release a top quality let’s play or speed build video daily? Absolutely not. And in fact, I haven’t uploaded anything in two weeks because my kids are on Winter Break and it’s just not feasible for me to record anything while they are home. I had a big break over the summer for the same reason, and my channel continued to grow, albeit slowly, and picked up again in September when school started.
I really liked the advice about the thumbnails! That is probably my weakest element at the moment.

Thank you for this Satch, this wasn’t the sort of video I was planning on watching but it’s exactly what I needed. I’m not sure what my niche is as I feel I’m quite an all-round sort of person (except for sporty) and I feel I can get bored from focusing on the same thing 24/7. My next door neighbour is a gaming RUclipsr with over 1 mil subscribers and I feel so tempted to ask for advice on dealing with technology when starting out but who’s to say I don’t start a ladies podcast next year lol. Honestly, thank you very much for this video :) Although there are some things I am not entirely sure about, it really was a great starting point. Becoming a RUclipsr has been on my mind for quite a while but I am very camera shy and do not know where to start so this was really helpful. Also some general feedback - I very much enjoy watching your videos because you find balance between a good lil trauma dump and not being family friendly opposed to actually playing the game and recommending content. Also you are a very relatable character in terms of sitting in you pyjamas and a bathrobe at times cause you don’t feel well. It makes you feel human and like „just another average person“ which is comforting for someone who also has trouble even getting out of bed sometimes. Have a great day!

I've got over a thousand videos, and almost 5000 subs but still not monetized. I don't get a ton of feedback so I'm always guessing what they want. You gave some really good pointers. I am just an old lady who loves simulation gaming...lol. I had a lot to learn about making videos and youtube in general that I haven't really dived into the content or thumbnail issues very much yet. Your breakdown was simple and easy to understand, unlike so many others who get too technical. I think I now have a grasp on what I need to do this year. Does your income as a youtube creator change based on whether or not we skip the ads in the middle of the video? I listen to/watch a lot of videos while I'm cooking or washing dishes. Sometimes my hands are free to skip the ads and get back to the content I want to watch (like yours) and sometimes I just suffer through the ads. Does it make any difference?

    • @sahm_and_bean
      @sahm_and_bean 6 месяцев назад +2

Not satch, but the most recent info I've seen is you need to watch for a few seconds after the skip button shows up for it to count as a true (paid) view. You don't have to watch the whole thing, although that helps, but if you skip immediately it won't always count toward that creator's ad views.

However, whenever I post a long form video, I get no views at all so in my case viral means nothing. I got subs but they don’t want to watch long form. I’m also a French Canadian and would like to do some French content but I’m scared people won’t watch 🤣 isn’t this ironic ? haha no one watches anyway. I feel as if I have to start all over again because becoming viral gave me a false sense of success. I’ve thought on and off for years of starting a RUclips but have feared I would be too repetitive or just not good enough for it. I really appreciate this candid video and am really thinking of going forward with it. Thanks Satch. I love your content.

Thank you for this video. I've tried in the past to build my channel but never could really get it to work the way I want. I've been reevaluating how I want my gaming channel to go and this will be a great help.

9:45 that topic would prob get 1m views for the Fortnite creators out there.
Something important for me is Posting Time - I find that when I post relevant Shorts to my audience when they are online, the Short can do a lot better.
Nice vid! Thanks for all the guidance. I wonder what a Sims X Smash Brothers collab would look like?

Thank you for this video! It's literally the best gaming channel advice videos I've found out here! I very much appreciate how honest you are about yourself. In some ways, it seems like this process forces that self-awareness. At least for those not living in a cloud of denial.😅 For the record, your laugh is definitely abrupt, but in spite of that, I found myself smiling every time you did.

This is perfect and thank you for making this video! I just created a channel a few days ago and uploaded my first video. I have pretty much no idea what I am doing and as a 50yr it can be daunting learning new stuff and speaking in front of a camera. I'm using an old Go Pro as my cam and will see if I can grow a following before spending more money. I found your information very useful in understanding all the ins and outs. I will keep trying and getting better!

Make videos people watch as background noise. This is perfect because that's exactly what I spend most of my time on youtube doing. I watch a lot of sims content and I'll often put on a video as background noise while I'm playing the sims. Half the time I don't even know what's going on in the video and I'll actually end up watching it multiple times to catch things I missed lol I find it very soothing!

Thank you for this video Satch.
I’ve been uploading Sims videos for nearly a year, inconsistently, with minimal views.
(Until a vlog of me spending Christmas alone suddenly got me 1.6k views)
I now know what I need to try to do with future videos but I wonder, how did you get over the cringe factor of “the shocked face” etc thumbnails?
I know every popular Sims 4 RUclipsr does them, but I dislike them so much for some reason, do you think I would get a better click through rate if I did the reaction face thumbnails?

OMG, this was amazing! Thank you for making this and for not regurgitating the same script as all the other "gurus". Honestly, I watch your videos because you're REAL - maybe that's what chaotic and brutally honest actually means. I mean, aren't we all just a bit chaotic in our real human lives? I am definitely using these tips to create a new channel. I keep saying 'it's too late to make videos about *this game* because everyone has already started playing it.' But I started gaming after some of my favorites were out for years, so why not make videos for those who are just starting? I'm deleting all the other "how to start and grow a youtube channel' videos I had saved. This answered my questions.
Also, your laugh isn't annoying or distracting. It's one of the things I look forward to in each of your videos. It sounds weird so I hope you don't take it like that LOL. To me, it just means you're honestly enjoying what you're doing and it shows. It's not fake and I love it! Thanks for being you :)

You described so many of my video watching habits; I feel too seen in this video 🤣 The other day I saw a comment from someone saying that if she were to start a youtube channel, she would prerecord at least a month's worth of videos beforehand so she could have a consistent upload schedule. I feel like that would be an awful idea though, since they wouldn't be able to adjust their videos based on viewer feedback or engagement, and that prerecording so far in advance makes more sense for people who have an established viewer base. I'm curious what other people think about that though.
