    Thank you so much for making this video! My son is sixteen and he wants to be a full time RUclips creator, but he's lazy. I sent him this with a reminder that if he REALLY wants to be a RUclipsr then he HAS to work, it's not just going to fall into his lap.

    Thank you for NOT saying that you need to upload a video every day. So many people in their “grow your channel” guides recommend this, and I hate that advice. If you have any responsibilities, such as work or children, it’s just not possible without sacrificing quality in a big way. Do I want to make this a full time job and make money? Yes! Do I have the time to release a top quality let’s play or speed build video daily? Absolutely not. And in fact, I haven’t uploaded anything in two weeks because my kids are on Winter Break and it’s just not feasible for me to record anything while they are home. I had a big break over the summer for the same reason, and my channel continued to grow, albeit slowly, and picked up again in September when school started.
    I really liked the advice about the thumbnails! That is probably my weakest element at the moment.

She tried for a few months but got disheartened even though we told her she just needs patience and practice. I’m definitely sharing this instructional video with her! Awesome video. I am small RUclipsr, and I think that for small channels the most important thing is to get good presence from the beginning. If you are not popular, people won't care even if you have the best videos and the best content on platform. I am not beginner anymore, but I know how hard it can be (and honestly if I didn't use a lot of Fame- ster, I would have quit a long time ago. It made everything much easier for me, especially getting to 1000 subs and view hours).

    I think your point of making youtubes as background noise is one of the best tips out there. I always have a video on in the background (sadly not yours because you are quiet intense) and it is a way I use to support my fave creators.

  • @teacherchristinamtn4741
    @teacherchristinamtn4741 10 месяцев назад +16

    Does your income as a youtube creator change based on whether or not we skip the ads in the middle of the video? I listen to/watch a lot of videos while I'm cooking or washing dishes. Sometimes my hands are free to skip the ads and get back to the content I want to watch (like yours) and sometimes I just suffer through the ads. Does it make any difference?

    • @sahm_and_bean
      @sahm_and_bean 10 месяцев назад +2

      Not satch, but the most recent info I've seen is you need to watch for a few seconds after the skip button shows up for it to count as a true (paid) view. You don't have to watch the whole thing, although that helps, but if you skip immediately it won't always count toward that creator's ad views.

    I've got over a thousand videos, and almost 5000 subs but still not monetized. I don't get a ton of feedback so I'm always guessing what they want. You gave some really good pointers. I am just an old lady who loves simulation gaming...lol. I had a lot to learn about making videos and youtube in general that I haven't really dived into the content or thumbnail issues very much yet. Your breakdown was simple and easy to understand, unlike so many others who get too technical. I think I now have a grasp on what I need to do this year. It's going to be a gradual change so I don't upend those who enjoy my channel. Thanks so much!

    Hey Satch, I applied a lot of the advice you gave in this video and it really helped me out, my channel has had great progress.
    I’m at the point now where I’d like to learn about sponsorships. The different kinds, how to go about getting them, and anything else that somebody in my position may need to know. My concerns are that I don’t want to get scammed by a fake sponsor and I don’t want to be taken advantage of by a real one.
    Would you consider doing a followup video covering this topic?

    This is a video I needed to hear and see. At times we gauge ourselves to bigger youtubers trying to the same methods in a way. The creative / fun perspective VS Informative is actual fact, I have had more info regarding information than actual funny fun videos.
    Legit the first video with some real info, the whole 'Cracking' Algorithm never made sense to me. Obvious click bait and I dont want to make click bait or be a click baiter. I like having genuine videos I create, edit all myself. Lot of work but I enjoy it!

    Honestly, thank you very much for this video :) Although there are some things I am not entirely sure about, it really was a great starting point. Becoming a RUclipsr has been on my mind for quite a while but I am very camera shy and do not know where to start so this was really helpful. Also some general feedback - I very much enjoy watching your videos because you find balance between a good lil trauma dump and not being family friendly opposed to actually playing the game and recommending content. Also you are a very relatable character in terms of sitting in you pyjamas and a bathrobe at times cause you don’t feel well. It makes you feel human and like „just another average person“ which is comforting for someone who also has trouble even getting out of bed sometimes. Have a great day!

    I watched the whole video. I don’t usually do that. This helped me. I’ve been on RUclips for 3 years now and went viral with shorts. However, whenever I post a long form video, I get no views at all so in my case viral means nothing. I got subs but they don’t want to watch long form. I’m also a French Canadian and would like to do some French content but I’m scared people won’t watch 🤣 isn’t this ironic ? haha no one watches anyway. I feel as if I have to start all over again because becoming viral gave me a false sense of success. So I’m going to take you’re advice and start from scratch all over again and build a community that likes the same stuff as me 😊nice video btw.

    Watching this video made me realise what I've been doing wrong and also what I've been doing right. Most importantly, I need to go on.
    Thanks a lot Satch !! 4:53 4:54

    Fantastic video. I’ve been thinking about getting back into RUclips and wanted to start with a new channel. This has given me some great perspective and ideas on what to start with 🙏

    You need to make more of these kinds of videos. I am going to use this. I love your “ I’m not here for any of your 3 simple steps shit I’m gonna tell you how it is” attitude. That’s what makes this such a great tutorial. A lot of people around me ( coincidentally adults) tell me that being a RUclipsr is hard and some of them even without directly saying it think that RUclips is not a good job. But you are saying that RUclips isn’t hard it’s just getting out there that’s the hard part. I learned so much I could write a college essay about what I learned even when I’m just going into high school next year. But I won’t. Cuz no one would read it. Just know you should make more of this type of stuff your actually gifted at it.

    I love that you have this 2nd channel satch, obvs I love your sims content but this is a really good way of not completely pidgeon holing yourself so you can still give that brutally honest and chaotic energy but just for general topics of life, I think I might attempt to start a channel myself just cus I absolutely cannot stand managers, who knows maybe my first video could be me making my worst managers throughout life in the sims and making them fight to the death lmao

    I can’t get over what you said in the beginning. I think if you didn’t started with a Doubt that basically says „I don’t even know if my video ACTUALLY helps anyone“, the video could’ve boomed wayyy more than it did

      Do you use other social media platforms to promote your YT? I think Satch got more popular on TikTok and he brought some audience from there
      Btw I’m not a social media coach or anything lol I also wanna start a gaming channel and just curious about what other people do

    Thank you for the info. I absolutely hate click bate! In dark souls games people love putting 500,000,000 runes an hours which is impossible in any dark souls game unless your cheating the game. Your delivery is precise and that is a gem in this day and age

    Make videos people watch as background noise. This is perfect because that's exactly what I spend most of my time on youtube doing. I watch a lot of sims content and I'll often put on a video as background noise while I'm playing the sims. Half the time I don't even know what's going on in the video and I'll actually end up watching it multiple times to catch things I missed lol I find it very soothing!

    I love your comment about copying different aspects from DIFFERENT creators and videos, and not just literally copying someone else's video. I know someone who made a video, only to have it copied exactly, down to the script (and not done as well), but the copier had an established channel, and ended up with over half a million views from the video within 2 weeks, while the original person got 500 views and ended up giving up on their channel. I am an establishing creator, and have found your comments useful and hope they help for my channels. Thank you Satch.

    OMG, this was amazing! Thank you for making this and for not regurgitating the same script as all the other "gurus". Honestly, I watch your videos because you're REAL - maybe that's what chaotic and brutally honest actually means. I mean, aren't we all just a bit chaotic in our real human lives? I am definitely using these tips to create a new channel. I keep saying 'it's too late to make videos about *this game* because everyone has already started playing it.' But I started gaming after some of my favorites were out for years, so why not make videos for those who are just starting? I'm deleting all the other "how to start and grow a youtube channel' videos I had saved. This answered my questions.
    Also, your laugh isn't annoying or distracting. It's one of the things I look forward to in each of your videos. It sounds weird so I hope you don't take it like that LOL. To me, it just means you're honestly enjoying what you're doing and it shows. It's not fake and I love it! Thanks for being you :)

    Absolutely amazing video. Love that you dropped the bull. Most videos are speaking to "Small" youtubers that have already hundreds if not thousands of subscribers. I do not I really started digging into it about 2 months ago and just really want to learn and grow. Your video is simple yet informative and honestly encouraging. Thank you for being you and sharing your experience and insight into the youtube world. 🎉
