Back in 84 I lived in Huntington Park ca 5 Houses down I remember the kids I use to hang out with told me this band is heavier than what I was listening to I remember seeing kk, tom, jeff hanging outside drinking beer! At that time I never heard their music. Than a few years pass by and raining blood I couldn't believe it! Toms sister I think was wearing a billy idol t-shirt. Slayer was once my neighbors lol
I have seen slayer a few times, it was awesome. But by far the best was my first concert, sonisphere 2010, only went for the one day, the day slayer was playing! It was the only time saw all the original members play together and was honestly the best 50 mins of my life. I just stood there in awe the entire set with my two mates, absolute privilege!
This has to be one of the best slayer performances, and metal too, love the way Tom looks like he has just woken up, then goes into a vicious assault of vocals and head banging. Paul's drumming is incredible and tight and gives the songs more of an edge, and this was in the afternoon if I'm not mistaken.Good luck -the next band on after this.
And it was Jeff Hanneman that created that sound. From Reign in Blood through to Seasons in the Abyss, their greatest albums in my opinion, Jeff wrote nearly all the songs and played the best solos, and pioneered that typical "heavy metal" sound (now known as Thrash Metal). RIP Jeff, Legend.

Paul is great but I just love Lombardo's combo of groove and speed. Paul is like a machine (nothing wrong with that) but Dave has a lot more feel when he plays
paul is one of the most overrated drummer in any genre. Lombardo had that element of slightly speeding up and slowing down the rhythm. To my ears it makes the music way more dynamic and less drum machine BS. Don’t get me wrong about drum machines sound right for the mostly garbage that they are used as. Go.

Wow, those were the days! I was at this concert. I was in the front row most of the show until Slayer came out. I had to retreat after two minutes. The Brits didn't headbang back then, they jumped up and down and I wasn't prepared for that. It felt like I was being crushed to death! Paul is on the skins, and I really wanted to see Dave.
Tom is still smiling to this day, Kerry has gotten to be more grumpy in his old age. I miss the laughing, smiling, joking Kerry, talking about playing as many "tunes" as they could fit in.

OmniscientVirtuosity Slayer still owns. Just saw them at Knotfest and 80% of the people there were there to see Slayer and they did not disappoint, was a great show. And now with lamb of god in August, Slayer is the GOAT
They were awesome in ‘86 when I saw them live the 1st time... I’ve been hooked since. One of the few bands that sounds just as amazing live as they do in a studio setting.

Wow, those were the days! I was at this concert. I was in the front row most of the show until Slayer came out. I had to retreat after two minutes. The Brits didn't headbang back then, they jumped up and down and I wasn't prepared for that. It felt like I was being crushed to death! Paul is on the skins, and I really wanted to see Dave.
Tom is still smiling to this day, Kerry has gotten to be more grumpy in his old age. I miss the laughing, smiling, joking Kerry, talking about playing as many "tunes" as they could fit in.
God damn Hanneman, why you left so soon?!
