i never understood why the heartwork album didn‘t made them huge stars. the songs are so good. heavy, yet melodic, just great. maybe ahead of their times?
i was thinking this recently, tbh i think it was a record really ahead of its time, released at a different time/diff circumstances it could have been recieved a whole lot better
I bought it, saw them on MTV as a kid (heartwork) and was hooked. Had to order the CD from a niche music store in town but loved every song and still do! Luckily they played my hometown in the UK and got to see them live. Still have the ticket stub !
Bought their album on release and it blew my mind. They certainly were ahead of the times. In any case Heartwork´s fame will only grow year after year, its a seminal record indeed.
@@blackblurable It wasn't until seeing them live, that I realized that all leads I loved from Heartwork were actually Bill's work and not Amotts. No wonder I never could get into Arch Enemy.
@@misumi75 Carcass's early work was great. Symphonies of Sickness is one of the most groundbreaking grindcore and death metal album. The shit they were doing in 1989 was insane. Then, they changed their sound and broke new ground in melodeath. You don't need to like grind to see how influential they were.
They love Ken. He's still a big contributor as you probably know. But most bands treat drummers like expendable members. Just look at what Slayer did to fucking Lombardo. Talk about insulting.
A melhor banda meu irmão amava e era pagodeiro, faz 12 anos que meu irmão faleceu, lembro na MTV meu irmão gostava do carvas eu sou metal até na veia,e sou pastor evangélico um abraço a todos
I saw iron maiden with 200 others at Bournemouth town hall in 1980 but metal left me although these fellas are Gritty , don’t fuck about and look like they love it. and I remember metal bands looking exactly like these fellas. That is saw music. I’m a fan Thankyou. 🏴😎
oh eff, i did not think it would turn this way. Thats a turnoff. Anything pre heartwork is pretty effing good. After heartwork i stopped listening to them.
@Lifetime I don't know how true that is. Chuck Schuldiner was writing some pretty melodic songs in Death around the same time or earlier. And Chuck is widely believed to have produced the first true death metal album anyway. Not to take anything away from Bill Steer and company but Chuck/Death are true death metal innovators in every possible way.
One of the best rhythm guitar tones I've ever heard! Wish I knew what was on their pedalboards. Gotta be something other than just regular boosted Marshalls to get that tone.
equipboard.com/pros/michael-amott equipboard.com/pros/bill-steer Check out equipboard. I see this is pretty much up to date on their gear. Pretty basic rigs but I think they sound amazing.
Hell yeah, I was there! 'were happy to be back in the land of chocolate and pedophiles' XD The autopsy/evisceration of the female corpse shown on the screens was awesome, people were walking away gagging and vomiting, Oh The Rapture!
The bass on ruptured is everything.
The bass AND drums, please don't forget our beloved Ken "we will never let you fucking go" Owen. Dude was a master back in the day.

Probably also considering how niche they were before heartwork and their name too perhaps

Heartwork it was one of the best deathmetal albums in the history
"The land of chocolate and peadophiles" You rock Jeff keep up the good work.
It reminded me of that famous Pedo from Belgium. I don’t remember his name because why spend the energy on a pedo?
I love how much fun Bill appears to be having.
Evil Dave he’s the riff master and imo the best guitarist. Amott is overrated and their last album shows how much criminally underrated Bill is
@@blackblurable It wasn't until seeing them live, that I realized that all leads I loved from Heartwork were actually Bill's work and not Amotts. No wonder I never could get into Arch Enemy.
And such a relaxt dude! I was at this show, I met Bill a few hours after the show, he wasdrinking beer and watching slash amidst the crowd haha
Jeff's singing sounds like an interview with 1980's Dave Mustaine
Omg too funny, now I can’t unhear it 😂
true
rotfflmao too funny, its so crazy, I always thought of them as the Megadeth of death metal.
Carcass is still alive !!!!
My grind core favorite band from my childhood!!!
Christo Krzysztof Radew the first and second lp was grindcore...now it's good music but not grindcore..

The guy with long hair is so talented!
I met Bill Steer in New Orleans last month over lunch at Coops. Had some good laughs..great guy and awesome guitar player.
I love that they say "standing In for ken" even though it's like 10 years since he could play live.
Tezzle Tibbs me too. He still sings and writes for the band, they all love Ken to death and honestly he's probabaly my favorite drummer
thats love
Carcass most of all are good friends with each other, something very unlikely with other bands
Yeah it's a fucking shame Ken was a badass drummer No Doubt

It must be incredible to have dedicated fans turning up at your gigs.

Never new how true it was until these last few years came by sadly.
Drummers deserve more credit than they get. Lol
They are beasts
Finally some people who get it!
Agreed
Fantastic performance!
Michael Amott and Bell Ster ♥️♥️♥️♥️

Just some dudes in jeans playing some sick riffs. Love it!
i miss the crispy guitarsound from the symphonies of sickness album...
markus e. lipka I was truly enjoying the ruptured riffage then it switched to heartwork ...it's cool but symphonies is prefered to heartwork for me!🤘
That was their peak with Necroticism close second... EVERYTHING is perfect on those albums
Carcass are so hardcore that even rainbows of their show look more badass than Chuck Norris
Heartwork … best death metal album ever. Tomb and legion are a close second and third
Really cool a group gets together and 💥 💥 creative creation so good thanks for what you do
Sounds way more vicious live!!!
Old school carcass is nothing but the best
oh eff, i did not think it would turn this way. Thats a turnoff. Anything pre heartwork is pretty effing good. After heartwork i stopped listening to them.
I have to agree. At the beginning of thsi video, when they did the stuff from symphonies, i was so happy, then it all turned to crap. Fuck.
I hear carcass in tons of bands

There's a special place in hell for the musician who thought up the concept of medleys
Total treat for any metal nerds out there like me. They got daniel erlandson on drums!??! wtf?!?! *mind blown*
They got Daniel just because they knew that he could play just about anything like his older brother hes a badass drummer
MASTERPIECE !!
They are awesome .... good to see them together again!!!
Trhash metal com fusão para death metal, riffs, pesado underground!!
Bill Steer is amazing but Jeff's voice sounds just as good if not better live than studio! Wow
Bill Steer - Grindcore pioneer / Legend / Nice Bloke :D
Full display of badassery!!
Perhaps the mightiest bass tone of all time \../
Fuck me, Carcass are awesome.
I
This made my day, thanks for posting this!!

CARCASS THE BEST OFF
Seems like you have to keep your hair for this kind of music. Btw I went to school with Bill Steer. Haven't seen him for about 30 years.

They innovated melodic death metal and that's a fact
Heartwork was a melodic DM album

The original heartwork album was a 5150 and jcm SLX side by side with a marshall governor pedal. Live I know amott uses JVM 410s
