- Jóhanna Guðrún is singing along with Bjarni Arason, all participating artists and the entire audience, the gorgeous, popular Christmas song "Heims um ból"("Silent Night"). The violin is playing by the excellent Greta Salóme Stefánsdóttir.
It was the really solemn finale of the "Jólatónleikar Fíladelfíu 2011" and also a solemn conclusion of the Icelandic Christmas Eve at TV!
Recorded at December 6,2011 in the Fíladelfíu church, Reykjavik. Aired on Christmas Eve by the Icelandic TV channel RÚV.

One of the best versions of a great Christmas carol. Greetings from Ireland.Johanna is an amazing singer...many great singers here.
Icelandic... lovely and sweet, even better when amazing singers sing in that language. And of course, my icelandic hero's voice, Jóhanna, sounds awesome as always
Beautiful violinist Greta! Amazing perfomance!
Que lindo! Toca na alma .( Jean de Brasillia, Brazil)
Yes, the violinist is THE GREAT Greta Salóme Stefánsdóttir - That's the first time that I noticed her and now I know she is really an amazing singer and songwriter ...
That's my opinion too! Greta is a musical genius and the second best female singer from Iceland - sorry, but I'm an incurable fan of Jóhanna Guðrún ... ;o)
Angelic! Thank you God for Yohanna.
Flott hjá henni í anda Jólanna!!!!!
I agree with you! I love all songs by Greta :). I think she will be one of the most successful artist from Iceland
Ooo, of course Yohanna is an wonderful artist too. I love all icelandic songs and artist from Eurovision, since I watching this song contest (from 2008). If you look at my tops (posted by me on you tube), Yohanna and Greta Salome took the second place in 2009 and 2012. And in 2010 Hera Bjork was my favorite. I think Iceland has a lot of talents :).
its an awesome voice. grabeh....
❤❤❤❤
ZTE cik nagyon jo
✝️Amen ❤
Fun fact: the lyrics being sung here isn't actually the Icelandic version of Silent Night (aka Stille Nacht) but rather a certain Christmas poem by one Sveinbjörn Egilsson (1791-1852).
There does actually exist a translation of the original Stille Nacht lyrics, translated by Matthías Jochumsson (1835-1920) called Hljóða Nótt (literally: Silent Night), but that version is NEVER sung by the common Icelander with the song, or even know by them. In fact, most Icelanders probably think that Heims um ból is a translation of the original lyrics rather than a yet another common case of Icelandic poetry being used with foreign songs XD.
I'm Icelandic and thought this was the original haha
But why? Stille Nacht is already perfect as is.
