Bill, I'd love to see a series of you remaking this costume using the techniques you've learned since the first time around! Kind of like when people redraw a picture that they did several years ago.
I second this
***** Fantastic, I can't wait to see it! :D
I was just thinking the same thing! Andromeda armor would be pretty dope too though lol.
ToastAndJellyfish YES!!!!
6 years later, and I'm still coming back to this for reference.
Currently in the process of making my own N7 armor and was struggling with making the boots until I saw how you made yours. That is BRILLIANT!!!! You saved me so much time and headache, thanks so much for posting this!!!
What I really like about prop makers and especially you is the willingness to share "trade secrets." Thanks ! I always enjoy your videos and enthusiasm!
Bill I just met you at Supertoycon in vegas and you are amazing. Such a nice guy and inspired me to keep working on my foam armor cosplay. This guy is truly a class act in the cosplay world and keep up the amazing work you do.
I love how you made use of the texture. When I think back on the time I've spent and the mess I've made sanding that off...
Great video! I love the background music in this one, it's got great energy. You truly are an inspiration, Bill!
This is PERFECT timing! I am just about to start on my first foam costume (Blood Dragon Armor - I have unrealistic expectations of my own skill), so It's awesome to see this. Your books, as well as videos from you, Ted, and others, have been super helpful as I prepare for this task! DragonCon is almost here, hoping it'll be done in time.
Your intro made my day lmao, I finished my skyrim armor build just in time for Halloween got so many compliments on it thanks so much for the vid and hard work you guys put into your content
Aw that's so fantastic!
It’s taken a long time, but I feel ready to attempt N7 armour… once I find some templates, not ready to try figuring those out from scratch.
Awesome Mass Effect armour Bill
Thanks Bill, now whenever I see that armour my eyes drift to that "rivet". ;)
DUDE YOU FREAKING ROCK! Thank for making this video! I am starting my first ME custom armor project. And, despite this is just an upkeep video, you gave me a ton of insight and ideas to make my armor look THAT much better. Im subscribing dude!
Thanks! =D
This is amazing, thank you for sharing! Now I want to make my own FemShep armor...
Thanks for the cool tips. Im learning so much in my costuming journey!!
Most excellent! Share what you make with us on Twitter: twitter.com/chinbeard
Amazing costume. I've never played Mass Effect but seeing this armor, I could really get into it, maybe even make my own armor!
I'm actually working on a Dark Souls cosplay!
I’m building a femshep cosplay and this was really helpful! Thank you!!
This is so amazing just like it was when you first made it!! my biggest question is how you did the indentations on both sides that run from the middle of your chest towards your ribs and obliques. It adds so much dimension and looks amazing!
+Punished Props Awesome! thank you so much Bill! That helps me a lot in order to add the detail and I really appreciate the response! And Bob is my uncle? I'm confused about that. Sorry 😅
YOU LOOK POWERFUL WITH THAT, A POWERFUL NERD
I've been thinking about making my version of commander Shepard from ME 2
Thank Bill, while looking at your video, an idea struck me about how to attach my gundam girl shoulder armor, which has been bugging me for two months, where i couldn't think of a good way to make sure it stands and stay attached. Now, it's all about internal structure, some shoulder pads VELCROed front, back and centre and a wedge to prop up the armor piece. Thank you again!
He replied to my comment. ....BEST DAY EVER.
The Sister of Battle on the screen at 0:32 is Aurelius' armoury.
i am TheNefari and this is my favourite Mass Effect Cosplay on youtube :D
Hah! Thanks so much!
This was super useful. Coming from a leather armour background the concept of using elastic wouldn't have occurred. I probably would have tried using belt buckles to attach everything. :P
It's nice to see Shepard again Bill. And thank you again for showing us how you get into it. That is so helpful! I've always been lost on how to do FemSheps's shin armor and keep it up so that was nice to see you just glued it to a boot. Out of curiosity have you ever had any bits of armor that are attached to the velco come off at a con if you're moving alot? Just wondering. Thanks again.
Lookin good
awesome. I remember, would love to see you do a gears of war cosplay
Is there an online store where you get those jumpsuits? I've found that when there's necessary gaps in the armor of costumes, it can look kinda obvious no matter what you wear underneath. Those jumpsuits are great.
sorry for a late reply, but he said in the video that the hexagons are painted on with a stencil, so it could be a zentai suit, minus the head, and just that painted on, so you don't have to get the expensive fabric (maybe idk where he got it im just giving help in the way i can)
I was just thinking you could do a video all about using inkscape to make blueprints
I'm more impressed that you can put the entire thing on by yourself! Most of my costumes, even non-armor ones, need a handler. Will you wear this again at Dragon Con?
i am Luke thegamingkiwi and this IS my favorite prop shop on the internet heck even the world
;D you just keep making awesome vids Bill
Love it!! I was curious, Mr. Chin beard lol, if you've ever used Flex Seal on the inside of armor to protect seams from moisture. I was going to try it, but I don't want to risk ruining my new helmet. Thanks!
+Punished Props Cooly, thank you!
DO you have videos or anything about vreating your own patterns? I dont understand how you understand how the foam folds.
Damn. I was rather hoping for a resource for a pattern for this or the old N7 pattern, the old links to which died long ago.
Hi! Great work! Do you have a template for the neck piece for the back?😊
Since when is commander shepherd so short lol keep up the great work Bill
Love your stuff Bill. Helped a lot when I was making some Undyne armor from Undertale. Quick question, what do you use to attach your velcro to the undersuit itself? And since it's stretchy, do you attach the velcro the suit is still on you?
There are 2 things that bugged me about armor in Mass Effect: how much time does it take to wear it, and if they wear it on top of the regular service uniform.
4:49 best gordon freeman cosplay
the Best Of the Best.
i love it. Thanks
what Kind Of Glue you Used?
Could you do a full mass effect build to show steps better, the ones i find so far only scratch the surface, not like you, that clarify and educate.
Hi Bill! With all the recent mass effect hype, I decided I finally wanted to try an make my own set of armor after years of thinking about it. I love your defender armor so much so I definitely want to try making it. I wanted to ask how you made those indents in the front chest piece of the armor? They add so much depth to the piece. The rest of the set seems relatively straight forward. Do you have any other tips for a first time go at this?
I sure do! Check this out: ruclips.net/video/dTZFx_oFF-I/видео.html
@@punishedprops wow, I would have never guessed how you did that. Thank you so much for your quick reply!
Aye aye Commander !
Hey Bill!
I'm attempting to begin becoming a foam smith. I have everything picked out but the glue to seal foam pieces together. I tried looking for the Barge contact cement stuff but it was WAY out of my price range. Is that how it normally is or am I looking in the wrong place?
Are there any alternatives I can use right now or no...? Thanks.
I'll look for it, thank you!
Could you email me the patterns for the mass effect armor please, (your first build in foam)
Bill, How did you make This armor? Did you make the templates Your self Or did you find them? I really like Youre stuff And Love Youre mass effect armor
I made the templates from scratch. I did it way back before I did tutorial videos. Here's the write-up on the build: punishedprops.com/2012/08/28/mass-effect-n7-defender-armor/
Do you maybe have the patterns of the default version, still? The site with the pattern everybody is referring to is down 😞
Hmmm I don't believe I do
Mmm those legs! haha. Because you Velcro most pieces on to your shirt/pants, does that mean they are washable?
I'm gonna ask here instead of bothering him: does anyone know how i can do a torso armor like him, wich means 2 parts that i connect together at my shoulders ? because i tried once, i don't know how to make the 2 parts connect between them, i can't design this template because it is two seperate parts that connect in doing a little circle
was i clear? xD sry for my bad english
Svardskampe got it, i read it but i still can't understand
Try evil ted videos
I'm 6'4". How much square feet of EVA foam would I need to build a full set of N7 armor?
What kind of styrofoam would i use to make guns, sword and armour like this? i wanted to get into making props but i dont know what kind of styrofoam i would use.
Caleb Draper EVA foam floor mats.
Nice
How would I make a flat peice of foam. Look 3D ish?
heat and shape as well
Hi Bill,
How can I measure my head for a foam helmet? I looked on RUclips and everyone starts with a cast of their head. I don't have moulding materials, what would you suggest?
Tin foil, and duct tape -or find a FX shop, I was getting mine done but the guy is booked solid till 3 weeks before Glasgow Comic con so I'm going to see if I can make my mask out of Eva foam -which still gives me 3 weeks till his date.
Do you know anyone with a scale M-3 Predator mold or 3D models for sale?
I've been really excited about Optimistic Geometry's fold up prototype, but it doesn't seem like they are going to be bringing anything to market anytime soon.
I love this armour, BTW.
Figured it couldn't hurt to ask. Thanks for the response.
Michael Tótin I found files on thingiverse.com
You didn't provide a specific link. The ones I am finding are undersized and have a skeletal grip. If I could ever take the time to learn 3D modeling, I suppose I could use those as a starting point to make my own, more accurate replica.
Thank you.
Well, Bill has some excellent videos about 3D drafting with free software. I'm sure you can figure something out.
I'll have to check them out. Thanks again.
can you make the elite riot gear helmet from fallout new vegas
i'm trying to find the shirt and pants you have on, can you point me in the right direction?
I bought them a long time ago, so I don't recall the specific brand. It was all from an athletics store.
GETH!!! GARUSS!! TALI!!
+punished props
I need a template where can I buy it
Is it just me or does he look like Gordon free men with his glasses on. You should make he's h.e.v suit.
I didn't know who that was -But yes 🤔😉
do you have the female templates available?
We do not
Is this for dragon con? Are you going?
I'm pretty sure I saw you in a Sneaky Zebra video!
You probably did!
Hair is looking' swish Bill!
Great hair, you should grow it out again, if you like.
Id like to know who the one person who disliked this was
