Coney Island spectacular and clean here in 1932...I was born in Coney Island only 31 years after this and I could assure you I never saw anything like this...
I was born 18 yea 0:12 rs after this film & I do remember some of these antics. Lots of fun but I can see the potential for lawsuits . What a strange world it was. 😏
Came here from the Festival of Britain (1951) video It seems some of these amusements are long gone from fairgrounds - the 'human pool table' for example. It looks fun though!
for the men only sign people commenting about by the human pool table ride , i suggest that back in those days men wore trousers and women wore skirts, long skirts mainly, so the skirt would get caught in the mechanism and become dangerous, so i suggest it’s a safety thing as much as a sexism thing Back in those days it was a mere cultural thing to say no women rather than no skirts because it was just a given that women wore skirts in society

Coney Island, where the risk of getting hurt is all part of the fun!
Like Action Park in New Jersey?
@@fr2ncm9 Yeah, just like it.
Those old rides look like fun but they wouldn’t be allowed today because of health and safety
The human pool table looks like fun. The dress blowing up not so much.

If I was a maharaja I would have one of those spinners to select women for my harem except spinning faster.
Fascinating...
