    A classic park, I'm glad it still gets love. With Thunderbolt, Cyclone, and Phoenix, it's a decent lineup. I will say they need a much better drop tower though, maybe a Larson Super Shot.

      Since Luna Park is owned by zamperla, they would only get a zamperla drop tower, so Deno’s wonder wheel park would need to get that, which could happen if they find a way to expand again.

    This would be a dream to go and visit. I live in Australia and there are no parks like this here. I have always admired very old and classic rides since I was very small. There is something very alluring and fascinating about very old , and probably considered "Antique" rides. Melbourne has a 100yr old coaster at Luna park but the park lacks warmth and character. This video was really enjoyable to watch - I saw steeplechase on some of my DVD collections of the old Steeplechase. Horses that are individual that would go around a monorail type track, that will be the 100 year old version unlike today. Ghost trains are such a valuable part of carnival history , it's so great to see the one at Coney Island still operating. Just beautiful - I know you did two years ago and I only just saw it , but I had to comment nonetheless because you made such a great video. ☺

    The Cyclone slaps really hard, fantastic ride. The pacing is impeccable!
    My issue with thunderbird is mainly that the straps painfully dig into my shoulders every time we go through an airtime moment or roll. If they were wider and padded the ride would be a lot more enjoyable. Also, it has the Skyrush problem where the lap bars pry down on the lower half of my thigh closer to my knee instead of the upper part by my hip. I agree that the layout is good and the airtime is quite strong.

    I haven't been to Coney Island since before they started offering wrist bands. I'm glad to see some typically upcharge attractions make the band. My biggest issue with Thunderbolt is the hard plastic and awkward contour of the back of the seats; otherwise it's a fantastic layout.

  • @urbex_coasters
    @urbex_coasters 3 года назад +4

    My favourites at Coney Island would be Cyclone, Slingshot, and Zenobio. I also love Phoenix and Wonder Wheel at Deno's. Those 2 typically upcharge flat rides in the Screamzone section of Luna Park almost justify the cost of a wristband alone, given the cost if paying per ride and being that they're upcharge in most places. That said, I prefer the larger version of the Skyscraper model, such as Adirondack Outlaw at Great Escape.
    Speaking of which, if someone is faced with the decision of Great Escape or Coney Island I would actually recommend Great Escape. Comet has a storied history the same way Cyclone does, and even though Comet has those dreaded ratcheting lapbars they're actually not capable of stapling and you can use the seatbelt to jam them at the height of the seat divider (they can only go 1 click lower anyways). The steel coasters at both places are very much filler so they don't hold much weight (so I'd call coasters a draw, I slightly prefer Comet but not by enough for the decision to come down to that and I can certainly see why someone would go the other way on that), Adirondack Outlaw is easily the best flat ride between the 2, Great Escape seems to have preserved more of it's charm and certainly has better prices. The thing Coney Island has on Great Escape is that beach front setting...would make for an interesting park battle for sure.

    • @CanobieCoaster
      @CanobieCoaster  3 года назад +2

      I prefer Coney Island since it has a unique atmosphere and I far prefer Cyclone to Comet.

    • @urbex_coasters
      @urbex_coasters 3 года назад +1

      @@CanobieCoaster Understandable, I would say both have a unique atmosphere with the storybook feel. I just think it would make an interesting comparison; an NYC vs upstate battle of parks more similar than most think. With Coney Island while I like it a lot I do take issue with standard cloned Zamperla rides from 2010 or newer bearing names like Tickler, Steeplechase, Thunderbolt, Astrotower, ect that have quite a history in Coney Island and the industry in general like they're trying to be those rides but so clearly aren't. Is it a nitpick? To some extent, yes. There's still Deno's for rides that aren't mostly cut and paste Zamperla rides in a lot of parks. But also, a lot of the Coney Island history was removed after it was corporatised by real estate investors and Zamperla. Great Escspe has preserved much of it's Storytown charm and the rides aren't a showcase of generic rides everywhere. I'm the type that wishes we had Astroland as it was in 2008 as well as the elements of Luna Park that are out of the bounds of where Astroland was.

  • @Paolo8772

    Before watching: someone did a 2020 version of the top best rides at Luna Beach in Brooklyn New York NY. Was that you? When I stayed at my aunt's Brooklyn studio apartment (which was just the distance of the length of one block from the Subway line from Manhattan to Luna Beach) in September 2014: my aunt remembered (when I hadn't) that I was at least a latent coaster enthusiast at the time. So, my aunt and her husband decided to take me to Luna Beach in 2014 in September after labour day on a weekday, but them being not in a demographic that'd know that the park might be closed during weekdays after labour day; neither did I at the time. As a result: all the coasters were closed, but we did end up eating epic, fantastic, historic and delicious pizza at a place right across the street that's just as old if not older than Coney Island itself, which was good enough for all of us at the time.
    I'm happy to hear that the Cyclone uses single position lap bars. I also love the undivided cars with padded couch seating. From what I can see, The Coney Island Cyclone at Luna Beach is one of (if not) the only roller coasters in the world that features three cars per train AND quadruple bench (four rows per car) seating. While I can forgive double bench cars RMC use (for all but their single rail coaster designs), it's almost justifiable as the double bench cars most Intamin trains for all of their Mega, Hyper and even their two Giga coasters, or the triple bench cars like the prefab Intamin wooden coasters use. The OG Coney Island Cyclone at Luna Beach park is the only roller coaster that has FOUR rows per car for any roller coaster trains that feature at least three cars or more per train on any coaster that features a height of at least 85' and a drop almost if not just as big as 85'.
    While that doesn't sound like a positive "feature" for me; one must consider that in June 1927: The Coney Island Cyclone would have been considered to be the equivalent of Steel Dragon 2000 when it opened in August 1st 2000 for having the tallest, longest, and fastest layout of any full circuit coaster with one lift hill (even if Steel Dragon 2000 wasn't as good as Millennium Force, which also was a full circuit coaster with one hill that had a drop of 300' that opened May 13th 2000; almost three months before Steel Dragon 2000.) Lastly: I've always heard my dad brag about how good the Coney Island Cyclone was when he rode it in the 50s or 60s while my mom told me it wasn't just the 1st coaster she rode, but was in fact also the 1st coaster to put her off coasters for life when she rode it once in the 1950s or 1960s (That is, apparently, until she decided to ride the Bobsled Matterhorn at Disneyland in Jan.1977 and the Runaway Mine Train at Six Flags Great Adventure in July 1977). Both my parents have been divorced for 33.5 years.
    I'd LOVE to ride Cyclone at Luna Beach in Brooklyn New York N. Y. myself so I can actually have my own opinion of it.

    No headbanging on Thunderbolt? Dang, when I went back in July 2021, the ride was unbearable for me because of the headbanging.

      Treat recording audio from your script like you're creating a song. You'll do multiple takes and alterations and you can pick and choose which parts work better together.
      Those disparate recordings that might not be great, taken apart and put together can turn into something truly amazing.
      A hit song is made from dozens and hundreds of takes, parsed together.

    No. I on the rank roster is similar to the one I've been on when I was a kid. Sadly the attraction is extinct like all others at the extinct park named Six Flags Astroworld in Houston, TX, due to poor service, skyrocketing season passes and rudely badass guests.🎢
