    This particular kind of pre workout supplement should not be dry scooped. It is a dry powder that is formulated to be mixed with water. Powder dry like this is not designed to absorb through buccal mucosa. If it was designed to be, then it would in fact, let the pre hit harder since it wouldn't go to the liver first to be broken down, that is, bypass first-pass metabolism. If that happened, the amounts of some key ingredients would likely be lower. Instead, by doing this, you're creating a choking hazard for yourself because of a troll and haha funny laughs at the expense of your own health. You likely can damage your lungs if you cough and breathe in enough powder because you tried this.
    These cases are patients who I, or my colleagues have seen. They are de-identified and many instances have been presented in more depth in an academic setting. These videos are not individual medical advice and are for general educational purposes only. I do not give medical advice over the internet, see your physician in person for that.

    It’s not just a choking hazard. A lot of Pre-Workouts are designed around being mixed with water; water isn’t simply to make it go down, it’s a key ingredient for activation of some of the chemical components.

    I've had a severe addiction to Caffeine since I was a kid (without it, I get bad migraines now). Over the past few months I've been enjoying a caffeine-heavy pre-workout and I have been dry-scooping under the assumption it would be absorbed into my body faster that way (only a single scoop daily, nothing insane) but now that I've seen this video I guess I have no reason to do that anymore.
    Thank you, Doctor. Your videos will certainly have saved countless people in the internet's lives, if not at the very least significant unnecessary discomfort.

      I use to care for a child in hospice with extreme health issues. She’d been disabled by a major medical malpractice at a few days old and her body systems began shutting down, 1 by 1, starting in her teens.
      By the time I joined her care team, her no would occasionally hit 300/190. It was TERRIFYING when it happened when I was alone with her (I was the only non-RN on her care team as I grew up with her and was used to her unique issues). It happened 3 times while I was with her. Once her mom was home, twice I had to call the head nurse. The drug they used to drop her bp was usually only given in the ICU and usually by an MD as the drug itself was dangerous. But this child was too fragile to move to a hospital, so they did it at home.
      The shit that you do when your kid has extreme medical issues is mind boggling. No one asks if you have medical training and at most you’re offered a tiny bit of training before a kid is discharged with new major care requirements.

Amphetamines act as dopamine releasing agents, slightly different that methylphenidate and cocaine, but achieve a similar effect.

Sometimes the brain can reroute, create new pathways, adapt a different section to take over for a section lost to disease or injury, a lot of the times it can't. But even when it does, it generally takes a patient years to recover lost mobility, muscle control, ability to speak, whatever was lost.

    Interesting to see Kratom pop up in here. I've been taking Mitragyna for three years now to help relieve my pain from Scoliosis and arthritis. Its been life saving for me. I haven't had any serious issues with taking it daily for such a long period of time, and it's easier on my body than percocet or vicodin which gave me kidney infections, headaches and mood swings. I also don't grow a tolerance to it nearly as fast as I had opioids. However, mixing Kratom with prescription drugs can be very dangerous. The plant is extremely potent and should absolutely be treated as carefully as any pill. People think just because it's some leaf you can mix it with anything or take however much of it you want. That's definitely not the case and I hope people don't continue to use it so recklessly since it's easily accessible at any smoke shop or gas station.

    This actually happened to me. My friend decided to mix my preworkout for me and decided to double my scoops (I usually take two), but he used a spoon from a previous bottle. That spoon was twice the size of the actual scoop, so instead of 4 servings I got 8.
    I was violently sick, dry heaving, shaking uncontrollably, my heart rate was through the roof. I went to the emergency room, and the only thing they did for me was tell me to drink water and kicked me out. Typical military healthcare. After 12 hours and chugging 2 liters of water, it finally wore off. I feel like that’s the closest I’ve ever been to dying.

    I remember when me and my buddy were just getting into the gym and pre workouts and all that (before info was readily available as well), and the scooper has 2 sides in the one I bought. One side would scoop enough to give you 175 with a line for 50, the other side gave you 500 at once with a line for 250. Well after a couple days of using it, we intelligently decided to go with that heaping side for the full 500. We started our workout fine but I think we both quit after about 15 minutes cuz we felt like crap. My buddy drove and on the way home, he literally parked the car at a stop sign, and started dry heaving so violently that his foot started slamming the gas pedal. I literally couldn’t do anything except sit there silently and stare at the sky wondering when exactly death was taking me. Even when we got back our houses (we lived across the street from each other), I just went inside and sat in silence and darkness just waiting
    Take those warnings seriously, and if you’re a beginner, DEFINITELY follow the instructions to a T. Don’t listen to your friends or some moron on TikTok. The directions are there for a reason
    Also, don’t buy proprietary blends like the ones mentioned. Proprietary blend basically means it’s a blend of stuff and you don’t get to know how much of what was used, if any. Go for the ones that keep it simple and have things plainly listed with amounts. There’s good pres out there, you just gotta do some research as to what should be in them

    • @Hakajin
      @Hakajin 3 года назад +24

      I mean, it doesn't have to be completely debilitating. I knew a girl in college... This was before I knew her, but in high school, she'd nearly died after a random aneurysm burst in her brain and she had a stroke, had a near death experience and everything. She had to go through physical therapy and stuff, and came out pretty fine, but it still couldn't be called a "full" recovery because she lost her left field of vision. Which isn't great: she'll never be able to drive a car, things like that... But she's still all there mentally, and doesn't have any problems walking or anything like that. So, she's disabled, but in such a way that she's still has great quality of life.
