      @A.L.Burley Yes, Mr. Winters’ understanding of metaethics is beyond reproach, which explains why he condones the MURDER of poor, innocent humans before they have the opportunity to even see the light of day. 👶
      The fact that he repeatedly asserts that "humans are animals" shows what an abject hypocrite is that MURDEROUS sinner. 😩

Generational farming has blinded them to the truth and, when present with it, they freeze like a deer in headlights and proceed to become close minded due to the massive cognitive dissonance it entails.

      most of the time farmers are getting f-d over by big corporations. most of the "farmers" driving range rovers are the ones who probably never set foot near an animal unless theyre filming a commercial- CEOs of Tyson, Smithfield, etc. Joe down the street who keeps a few hundred chickens is probably barely making enough to pay for his equipment.

      Ideology is part of it, but farmers mainly want to make money profits. Its a business practice they have been doing all their lives and has become their way of life. Even if they see the light and agree with veganism, its a massive financial hurdle, ie. possible bankruptcy, to just stop it all immediately, unless they can get some financial and logistical assistance to change to vegan farming.

    Absolutely love this video. I think that the majority of people do believe that they are good people-- and I'm even tempted to say that they are. I just believe that as a society, we are so disconnected with our food and how our decisions and morals reflect back on us when we choose to put that food in our mouths. A lot of us are going on autopilot because our subconscious just tells us "eat food so I can have energy to worry about the bigger things". It's really time to heal our connection with food and with nature, especially now for the people who have the options to go vegan, and especially when it is no longer for survival. I think that it's because of this disconnect on something so fundamental and basic that we are incapable of having the ability to solve the bigger and more complex problems in our world. Love the work you do so much, Ed!

      There are levels to being good. Vegans are good. To the point where it is unnecessary. Farmers are just good. Humans> other animals. If you think otherwise, you're not using your brain. This comparison to cats and pigs is weak. If you're confused why people get angrier over cat abuse as opposed to pig abuse, again you're deliberately not using your brain.

    • @sarahhopkinson3526
      @sarahhopkinson3526 2 года назад +2

      @@Sal3600 we understand people are more attached to cats, but that’s simply because the cat was lucky and got chosen to be a domesticated, loved animal. The only difference between the cat and the pig is the perception that has been placed upon us by our societies. Pigs are just as loving, if not more. We know why people are more outraged about cats being abused, but the complete ignorance or apathy towards the horrific abuse of the farmed animals is very hypocritical. Not even a slight reaction to the suffering they are causing themselves by buying the animal products.

    • @victoriapham855
      @victoriapham855 2 года назад

      @@Sal3600 Is it really unnecessary though? At surface level, it’s just a bunch of people cutting animal products out of their diet. But under that surface, it’s not unnecessary but VITAL. We’re against the artificial insemination, the closed pens that the animals are stuck in, the animal testing in the makeup industry, the stealing of newly born animal babies, the torture that many people in the agricultural industry force on innocent animals such as debeaking, throwing into gas chambers, hitting, the ultimate decision for them to be bred only to be slit across the throat and bleeding right next to their own kind. If you can honestly stand there and say that these practices being condemned is unnecessary then you’re going through some serious cognitive dissonance. The comparison between a cat and a pig is not weak because if you actually thought about it, you’d realize that we have subconsciously placed arbitrary values on how a cat should be in the home and the pig should be on our plate. Either all of it is okay, and that would mean it is okay for cats to also be artificially inseminated, tortured, tested on, and bred only to be killed for their meat, or it is absolutely not okay in all circumstances.

    Animal farmers and other people like horse riders or 4H participants are some of the most deeply indoctrinated for many of the reasons you said, and I would just add for a very egoic, deeply unconscious emotional addiction to the familial "love" and praise they get for doing these things, and that when you're deeply unconscious you fully believe that something you do is your identity so when someone suggests that it's wrong or to change, it on some level feels like your life is threatened. But really it's just your ego that is.
    And I say this as a person who rode horses for 10 years, went to college for equine science to become a professional horse breeder, and did a literal speech in my college speech class about how rodeo "isn't cruel". It was always my ego, my deep unconsciousness, and programming from my family and the toxic horse industry/community. And having control over horses was always to make up for my lack of power I had within myself from being abused. And why are these abusive family units and deep unconsciousness so prevalent in these communities? Because of what you mentioned, little access to other world views, all I can say is thank goodness for the internet and things like RUclips. Because these systems and lifestyles of oppression can only thrive in secrecy and with their victims cut off from knowledge about what's really going on.

    Ed, of course I have been following you for several months after I myself became vegan rather than just a vegetarian. I would like to ask you what you think about the pet industry. As for myself, I worked in it for 6 months while attending art school. I found out a bit more than I was supposed to about the industry, so I had to quit on moral grounds. One of the things is the questionable supply chain from which exotic animals are from. Another issue I found was the type of food that is fed to animals in general, whether they are on farms or are being raised as pets. This food is not food at all, rather it is a waste product including road kill,, but primarily it is corn, at least in the USA. The meat is what they call 4D meat. You can fund out what that means. Okay, enough said, I think if you address this issue, it would make a fantastic video. Thanks.

    I'm a new entrant farmer who grew up in an urban environment. I was nervous about keeping livestock initially, but was amazed at how natural it felt once I started. So I disagree with earthling ed. We don't just carry on farming livestock because it's how we've been raised. Livestock play an integral role in our food system, and there are many reasons our ancestors have always done it. The vegan movement is a very recent one, and has really come out of urbanisation and the industrialisation of our food system.
    Ed now has access to money and resources given his popularity. I would be much more inclined to listen to him if he led by example and built the vegan farm that he is dreaming of, instead of telling the community what they should be doing. I can assure you, it's a lot harder than it looks. At the end of the day, someone has to grow our food. So lead by example instead of telling people how morally corrupt you think they are.

    Also, I feel we must acknowledge, that, even though we think the current agricultural system is flawed, these people *are* still providers. They take on the role of providing food for lots of people everyday. I don't think a fruitful (haha!) discussion with farmers can be had, if we don't recognise that fact and respect it. A few more problems I see with your kind of position:
      -given the overbred farm animals there are today, a lot of suffering is inevitable regardless of how they're raised. Almost all egg laying hens are in pain from multiple bone fractures. Cows lose and mourn their young, and they live with deformed, uncomfortable udders that can burst from milk.
      -Even if we assume that some kind of animal farming can be ethical in principle, this would be very small scale and not something that can be expanded to everyone.

      @@alexdings1725 An ethical argument that he dismisses or ignores is that he puts forward the idea that you shouldnt eat meat as the act of eating meat causes harm to an animal and there are other choices that cause no harm. However this misses the point entirely that farmed animals would not be alive if not for meat consumption and that they can live positive and happy lives up until their death. Who is to say that the farmed animals life is worthless? If we are weighing up the harm causes to an animal, why are we not weighing up the positive experiences of the animal too? Suffering matters but so does pleasure and happiness too. The act of eating meat, serves to create life too. I would argue it is necessary and worthy, according to the factors I define them to be.
      I would underline all this that ethical standards, localised production and consumption, organic practices and reducing overall consumption are critical factors that I personally see as an important part of meat eating.
      I eat meat occasionally. It probably forms part of a single meal on 4 out of every 7 days during a week for me. I think we all need to reduce our meat intake for environmental reasons. I also think people need to select local meat produced to the highest ethical standards. Other than that I have no issue with the principle of eating meat.

    Genuine Question from a farmer. How does a Vegan Farming system practically function? It’s no good just to say “oh vegan farming will only use a quarter of the land currently used for livestock etc” as true as that possibly might be. Where is that Land based? As its not going to be equally partitioned between country’s Russia, USA, Ukraine, Belarus all have vast ares of quality arable croplands Vs many smaller EU & African nations for example who it seems to me will be in very dangerous food security situations being totally reliant on larger nations & corporations for the food?
    What’s the vegan plan for crop fertilisation? How are you looking after soil health& fertility long term? For example there’s now more & more arable farmers bringing livestock back into there farming systems as a way of controlling weeds & winter growth Lessing the need for chemicals provided quality organic muck to maintain soil health. And another income stream from the livestock.
    Now I am certainly not claiming our current food system is perfect, damn far from it but blaming farmers for basically getting on with the job successive governments have asked of them for 100s of years all the while being fleeced out of thousands by greedy supermarkets & processors & Public population who are addicted to cheap food.

    There are many different types of farmers. Small scale and large scale. Also, it's untrue that farmers are insular and isolated. A lot of them go to farmers markets every weekend and interact with their customers, and fellow farmers, etc. You don't know what happens in the lives of farmers. Stop acting like you know what happens in the lives of people you don't even know.

      Even meat eating body builders eat protein powders to get "high protein".
      It's impossible to undereat protein. The minimum is 26g per day. The recommended (with buffer included) is just 56g. Like you get that eating 2000 calories of anything. You might want 80g if you're a natural lifter.
      200g if you're on steroids maybe. And then you need powders for that anyway. So just get a vegan protein powder if this is you.

    I went to the Dr's for a bad back the other day, we got in to the point I was vegan because I haven't been vaccinated due to it being tested on animals and she took some bloods from me because she said she has "never seen a healthy vegan" I said to her "No, you just haven't ever met a smart vegan" that was over 2 weeks ago and I've not had a phonecall that I'm low in anything.

    • @J-pix
      @J-pix 2 года назад +1

      Veganism is eliminating the use of animals products as far as practically possible. Being vaccinated does not mean you are not vegan. All medication, at some point, has been tested on animals as required by law. Associating veganism with antivax sentiment is never going to help the cause.

    • @Tinky1rs

      Every medical product or implant has to have been tested on animals. While true that it isn't great, I've seen worse pet owners than poorly treated lab animals in my pharma research years. At least animal laboratories are regulated, checked, and have a vet on site. Any handling or facility clean-up requires certification.

    Proscribing evilness to individual people is so immature in this situation. You are not willing to recognize that the problem is the system that insensitivizes and legitimizes these actions and that we have to change the system. If we convince these people not to be evil they will lose their job because they are bad at it and the next „evil“ people will rise to get the position.

      Plant farming DOES NOT REQUIRE animals to die, UNLIKE animal farming. Vegan farming is a thing. When everybody agree animals don't deserve to be farmed, then surely society can make better system, with wild animals in mind, as part of consideration.

    Do you ever think that framing your video thumbnails and titles as "vegan vs x-group" is a bit polarizing? I have noticed that in all your videos you are very calm and don't speak with resentment towards the other party. Therefore, don't titles such as the ones I mentioned earlier, create a false representation of your stance on the conversation to people that don't really watch your channel and happen to watch a single video?
