The oil was going to start burning with nothing on it so I think it was a good choice to do the fish then since the oil was already hot >

In relay challenges, you should move the people that finished to a room with a video feed so they can see the next person derail their idea and record the reaction.

@@khristianidica1463 in some ways, but by that time they already know how the dish came out. I figured they would be a bit more attached to their concept while it was being changed in front of them.
Also Ben made the comment that by going first he gets to relax for 40 minutes. I figured this would give him something to do during that time.
Can we address that Ben says Barry likes the sea and then Barry walks in looking like a fisherman? 😂
I would gladly watch a fifty minute episode of uncut pass it on.

"Where's the dish?!" has snuck its way into my standard vocabulary- I keep catching myself mumbling that under my breath whenever I'm looking for something I can't find.
Barry should’ve rated himself a 10, some real personal growth coming in and saying he’s just going to do what’s he’s told 😂 I oddly missed his chaotic energy
Comments on recent videos have really been having a go at him, hope he hasn't read them and is changing his behaviour to please us, he felt off in this video. Don't change Barry, we want your creative genius first and foremost!
@@OK-mv4ih THIS. In the Pass it Ons Barry tends to drive the others to make interesting food. There have been a number of times where it is clear that what they are making is a boring everyday dish and you can almost see Barry's wheel turning "can't have that, this is a fun YT video, we have tutorial videos, this is not one of those"

@@OK-mv4ih yeah! I felt this too. The comments on the last video were almost unbearable. I like that he thinks out of the box and brings creativity, and it certainly livens up the atmosphere.
It's hilarious to me that this is arguably one of their most successful and cohesive Pass-It-Ons, but they rated themselves so much lower than usual and questioned themselves the whole way through! 😂
It's called a confidence thing. If you're not proud about the dish can you call it a pass?

Oh, I love the idea! But I' m afraid of what they would come up with for Berlin, especially when Ben thought sauerkraut, beer and pretzels were the epitome of German Cuisine during their fusion battle 😐

I love pass it on, it's so fun and chaotic. This was such a good idea because, like Janice said, whats nostalgic to one person is not always nostalgic for another. I love how they knew that the animal biscuits were for snacking so they just opened and started snacking on them.
Exactly.... you're pretty safe with fish fingers and chips while throwing in a few old childhood classics. 😆
@@SortedFood and you know it was nostalgic for everyone because you all knew what you were doing and what the plan was. I think this is the best pass it on for team work without writing anything and it is 100% a pass in my books. I don't want to say it was the animal biscuits but they weren't there before.
@@SortedFood That took away a lot of the suspense for me. Janice says something that's nostalgic to one person is not necessarily nostalgic to another, and then the dish turns out to be fish and chips, which strikes a chord with everyone. No wonder you all gave it a pass.
I love it too! wish they would do these and the head to head to head battles exclusively and get rid of the trying pretentious gadgets, food, etc stuff as that stuff bores me to tears.
This reminds me of the risotto episode. Ben sets up an idea, calls Barry next, Barry has no choice but to follow the leader for 10 minutes.

It's also astonishing how much Ben got done in his ten minutes compare to everyone else. Sure, he didn't have to go through the "have to figure out what the f***'s going on phase" (which sometimes eat up more than five minutes for the normals), but he essentially got every element that was in the final dish all set up in just his time alone. (Got the fish prep all set up except paneing/frying, got the tartar sauce set up, got the syrup started for the ketchup, and placed the peas there)
@@jack90054 Basically, if Ben goes first, they are overwhelmingly more likely to pass. I can only think of one time that Ben went first and it failed.

When they said the theme was nostalgia and Ben was going first I immediately thought "Ben is going to make a fish pie."

@@schwig44 Check out EnglishTeaStore. I've used them quite a few times when I needed ingredients from the UK that are sometimes difficult to source stateside.
Vimto in often in the supermarket international aisle. Don't think I have ever seen Monster Munch.

Can I just say I'm 4 minutes in and I just love the way Ben's mind works. This is why he is a professional chef, just absolutely immaculate and creative ideas on the spot. Ben you're amazing!
I love how animal biscuits are nostalgia, they’ve been around forever and I still take them as a snack when I’m out! 🙉

I love how they stick to the brief, add on to the final dish whilst continuing cooking other members contributions and not going “f**k it I want it to make something else” they all give themselves average scores.
This is one of my favourites, they had a good base of fish and chips, then no one went mental and decided to make a cloud egg or turn it into a dessert or blowtorch a pepper etc, everyone just added their own part and improved the end meal. Spot on guys

I'm so proud of Barry, although the fact that he gave himself a 5 for being a team player and basically completing the dish says everything about him.

James might not have crushed it during his 10 minutes this go around, but he definitely crushed it in the roasting department. As savage as his "I'm going to bring in Jamie, not necessarily 'cause he's going to do a great job..." quip was, I think the most brutal was when Janice was mocking Ben's age at the beginning. James was in the background, nodding in agreement with a casual, unsurprised, "Yeah, that's accurate and fair" expression on his face. 😆

this is the most calm pass it on i've ever seen, everything went on so smoothly, i felt like i was watching a different show, how did this happen? hahahah
I really want to see a pass it on with just the two chefs, but give them a particularly hard prompt and see how amazing the result is. Oh, and have a Normal provide commentary!

You get the feeling that b/c 4 of them went to primary school together, and were allowed to munch on nostalgic snacks, whilst making a nostalgic meal, that they all just settled straight back into their old school project group and subconsciously tried to make it work. James (who didn’t go to school with the others) was definitely the most sassy in this one... :)

The boys have been good for him. Some of those early episodes, he's just a little severe.

Rewatching these older videos makes me miss James. He adds so much!
I like it when Ben goes first. I feel like I rarely see it, and you get a real insight to the leader's head in these, because they start from scratch. Also, when Ben does go during the later end of pass it on, he is very, very good at saving any train wrecks if they happen, so Ben going first can lead to chaos if they do have a train wreck on their hands.
I’m happy to see the transformation from Barry to Mike as the Designated Plate Artist.

I think the mission was accomplished it was safe but the theme was nostalgia and I think fish fingers is nostalgic and the twist of flavors was inventive. Love Jamie's face when he realized the pot noodles had no real curry left in it 🤣

The last leftovers relay seemed more like a fridge staples relay. I would love to see a true leftovers relay that utilized meals and leftovers from meals made previously in the week. I hope that makes sense. I love to see the creativity people use to transform leftovers that they have from throughout the week and I think it would be really cool to see that in a relay.

A couple of ideas for future pass it on: 1.unexpected twist( use ingredients and equipment in the most unusual way possible). 2. Camping( you can only use basic camping equipment to make a 2 course meal) 3. Left Behind(use ingredients that are really hard to use like durian or canned fish to make an amazing dish) Great video as always guys

Every time Ben Is first, he starts every part of the dish and therefore controlling the whole process. It‘s like me preparing everything and giving my husband the stuff to watch while it cooks 😂
Would love to see an Iconic movie meal pass it on, where they have to create a famous dish from a movie, but the first person decides what the movie/dish is, the others have to work it out as they cook

I feel like this pass it on was almost relaxing by comparison to others. With the nostalgia theme that was quite fun. Definitely sounds like you ended up with a simple tasty dish
This was fantastic! Nobody tried to derail things with a crazy idea and the end result looked delicious! Kudos to Barry for the self-control to just "stick to the script" and not throw a curveball. Would like to see more of these go this well! 😁

Have a chefs only pass it on where Ben and James are given a different cuisine (They won't know what each other got) and have to create one dish at the end.

Could we get a Janice reacts video with Janice watching clips of past videos and providing commentary while she does? Creating a compilation video with a twist. Cause we all deserve more Janice in our lives.
So something I've always wondered about these episodes.... is Janice dubbed over later and someone from the Production crew is telling them the challenge? Or is Janice's recording being played live?
And in which case.... does that mean Mike is never surprised by the theme of the challenge?

Dish: Monochromatic colored dish or ingredients (i.e. only yelllow / green / red ..)
Jamie's sass towards Ben will come back to haunt him, the next time Jamie has to be first for Pass It On.

With dried, tinned, and long storage foods as the primary ingredients, and the individual memories of camping of the Chefs and Normals, I think it could prove an interesting challenge.
I've actually just finished watching Jamie's bit and had a face that I can only describe as 'utter bewilderment'.

Honestly I want to see the reaction video for this, because I think everyone will give Ben mad props for his thoughts and how much he did to kick everything off.
I'm proud of Barry for just going with what he knew was going on and pulling in that teamwork for a common goal. I think the guys did great!
Suggestion for the next pass it on: The boys have 30s between each round to communicate to the next person what they are making but they cannot speak and can only use gestures and hand signals.
