The moment Mike's brain clicked and he picked himself had me laughing so hard .
My brain was like "wait none of the other guys are called Mike".. ... ... "OMG HE'S MIKE, THAT'S GENIUS"
When I heard the rules order, I hoped someone would go back to back, but I thought it would be last.
@@route2070 That was my first thought - well they didn't specify you couldn't name yourself, so just everyone call themselves at the end of their first turn.
I have never before laughed so hard at a Mike move; that was brilliant.
Just perfect. His little Dr Evil face - he just looked so pleased with himself.
The confidence Mike gave himself by cleverly choosing himself to go next, only to be negated by the fact that he tanked the whole dish by not putting the oil on early enough was comedic gold.
😂 glad you enjoyed it!
Also, Barry said TWICE that he should get the oil on. But did he do it?
@@rolfs2165 nope but he left a hob on prolly in the moment where he thought he was going to put the oil on and lost his train of thought.
nah man he absolutely left enough time for the chicken that was all ben!!! 6 minutes is a perfectly long time to cook wings and ben could have started them even earlier if he'd wanted
I’m surprised the other three did not comment on Mike going back to back with his time
The real MVP in this episode was Jamie for cooking the damn chicken regardless of Ben's sabotage.
Well Ben still got the oil going, so he did what he could to make sure something could be salvaged if the chicken couldn't be cooked. But yeah Jamie was on point!
Absolutely. He was the hero of the story.
@@AlokSomani I know you posted this two months ago but hey whatever.
Ben didn't get the oil ready. That was Mike.
Yeah becuse fish isnt a comfort food its something that no human should eat.
Yes i do hate fish way more then a rational person should.
@@AlokSomani Hero? Using something he knew two out of the other 3 detest? And there was no chicken, because eating half raw chicken is stupid.

Somehow Ben became a terrifying combination of Barry, Mike and Jamie during that second turn of his. Pulling a complete wild card and gleefully tossing it in.
he always does, he often uses the words we can do better
He was plotting the moment he saw that fish
But to be fair it was a great move considering he was doing it with the mindset of "I don't think this will be done in time, let's do something quicker."
@@THENAMEISQUICKMANThat was a lie to support the fact that he wanted fish pie.
@@truecI dunno. Bringing oil to temperature in 6 minutes itself is a big ask, and even if that had happened, fully cooking wings in 6 minutes is an even bigger risk. Of course, it did somehow JUST work, but that feels more like luck than careful consideration. Ben's own consideration, even if it was a little selfish-minded in motivation, was still the better objective choice.
Mike’s casual sass: “oh we’re making brown butter waffles”
Add to that his reaction to the blue cheese residue at 08:01 and his Janice voice at 08:18. That's pass it on gold!
"...are we!?"
Jamie's final turn within 1 minute of starting...
"WHY IS THE CHICKEN NOT COOKING!"
"WHAT IS THAT!? IT'S GOT FISH IN IT!"
"WTF IS GOING ON!"
"WAFFLES!?"
Nearly died watching that.

Order: the order in which they got to the studio that day
Better: The Pass-it-on starts as soon as they get to the studio. They are each given a time to arrive and if they show up earlier or later, tough, they start immediately upon arrival. That could mean a gap, or two working at once. If the latter, they're not allowed to talk to each other.
I love both of these ideas
+
Theme/twist: tell the normals and chefs different themes and see what happens. For example: tell the chefs that only they are being told the theme, and that it’s a specific dish. Then tell the normals that their only goal is to make sure a specific ingredient is incorporated that wouldn’t normally go with whatever the chefs are making. The overall dish can still be a pass or fail, but each team would have their own pass/fail: can the dish reasonably be considered to be what the chefs were supposed to make? And did the normals manage to incorporate their secret ingredient?
oh, I love that idea so so very much
This idea has such chaotic potential, I love it
This sounds amazingly entertaining!
You just want to see the whole studio burn, don't you? xD
I like the idea!
"In cooking, you can only add, you can't subtract."

I'm with Baz. I'm not a big fan of bleu cheese either.
@@notme222 Same here, it's just way too much.
I just don't get it to be honest, I find nothing's better than having blue cheese with taters
Ironically, had Mike picked Ebbers instead of himself to go next he'd have started the chicken frying and they would be eating the dish they wanted.
The annoying thing about the end product is it can't even be Ben's "I'M MAKING A CLOUD EGG!" cause it was actually a good, finished dish 😂
But in what world is fish comforting? They had a great dish going and then Ben just threw it out and served fish slop.
@@iandowall153 what you talking about? Fish is great
Plus even though the chicken was cooked in the end Ben wasn’t sure if it would be. And there’s nothing worse than undercooked chicken. Even though it’s a scumbag move, I get why he did it
@@iandowall153 I'm with you. If I came home after a rotten hard day and sighed "all I want is some nice comfort food", I'm going to be extremely angry when someone is then going to serve me fish gunk in creamsauce. That is not comforting in any reality, it's just really really vile. And I'd possibly consider converting that anger into physical assault if I found out there was actually chicken wings ready to be cooked that we could have had instead. Or, depending on my mood, I'd ring a psychiatrist for Ben and ask what he could prescribe for an accute psychosis.
@@iandowall153 A fish pie without the pie is kind of just like a rich, thick fish soup. And everybody finds soup comforting. I think it was a decent attempt.
@@gladtobeangry you need more help than Ben does (and I don't think he needs any) if you'd consider throwing hands over food. And speak for yourself.. I'd be ok if that was given to me as comfort food, and I know I'm not the only one who'd think this.
Pass-It-On without James is always "Cooking with Ben** "

@@xdgirl8886 Yeah, but if you haven't got time to put oil in a pan then there's a problem with that. That's like if in a pasta episode everybody left putting the water on for the last person, whether there's time for it or not it's just a terrible risk to take when you could just put water on ahead of time. Not great priorities there
After a year, now rewatching this. Ben should thank Barry for taking out the blue cheese, because I don't know if he would've wanted a blue cheese fish pie since he went bold and added the mornay to the fish as well
Mike: Here's a curveball
Ben: Hold my fish pie

This episode's final reveal might be the pinnacle of "Where's... the dish?!" we hear in the intro. Right until the end everyone was sure they were making chicken wings
Ben: Where’s... the fish?!
And they were! Until Ben decided they weren't.
They were making chicken wings except that no one was actually making it. Lol.
It was a super smart move to have something ready just in case!
Gotta say, wholeheartedly agree with Barry's decision to remove one of the most challenging cheeses from a dish that's prompt is comfort food.
One of his best moves ever for sure.
Not if they were going for chicken wings. If the blue cheese had stayed there, I dare say that Ben would have made a better run at the chicken wings, since blue cheese is WAY more compatible with chicken than fish.
Blue Cheese is best paired with fried foods. He made a damn mistake.
Here's some moldy cheese. Eat it, I guess.
