    They need to do a pass it on where every person is told a different theme, but they all think they're doing the same one. The chaos would be amazing

      This is a stellar idea!

    • @rayden54

      It'd be interesting, but it really just means whoever goes last has to try to make everything fit their theme.

    • @SeraphimCramer
      @SeraphimCramer 2 года назад +56

      Just to give them some chance of passing, the themes would have to all be at least somewhat similar. If one person's told the theme is date night dinner, & the next is told that it's carnival food, they're basically gonna' end up each scrapping everything the previous person did. Done right, it could be a good idea, though.

      I've given variations of this idea so many times. Like each person given a different country to influence their dish. Or each person is given a secret ingredient (that's not a typical basic item they use often) that needs to be incorporated well enough that it makes it to the table. I also have the idea of each person is given information to steer the dish, like a note pulled from a hat, but there's zero communication allowed aside from hints. For example, the first person could be told Christmas dinner, the next person is told it has to be gluten free, the next person finds out it should be French, and the final person is told that it needs to fit into a small container for somebody who works on Christmas day to bring as their meal.

    • @kinagrill
      @kinagrill Год назад

      That's why Veganism is stupid. what counts is if it's an ethically sourced food item or not. I mean, it's shown that plants have an actual response to what we as human beings could see as an analogue to pain response. But because 99.99% of people dun see plants the same way they do a cow, sheep, animal-provided produce like milk and eggs, etc. Then that's just a totally ignored thing.

They're more like "Normal 2.0"

      @@Dream146that’s the thing vegan is not exactly a very uptight definition. If bought from a good beekeeper it should be vegan by logic of ethicial veganism. More of my personal opinion but I find vegans who don’t view consumption of animal products in terms of ethics as one consideration among others to be pretentious vegetarian. I have been vegetarian and it is lovely and varied depending on the person who is vegetarian. I do wonder how many vegans would just be vegetarian if they heard it first or had a better understanding of vegetarianism.

    I really appreciated Mike in this video I will admit. I’ve often been critical of Mike in the past usually for his PIO performances by not actually enhancing the final dish because he enters the kitchen flustered and panicking which makes him disorganised and irrational and instead of working out what’s going on and what the plan is for each ingredient he tos and fros and wastes the majority of his time, or there’s other times which frustrate me more where he has moved the dish along and gotten the team closer to the final dish by improving what was already there but then being exceptionally self critical and not believing in himself or what he’s just done so there’s times where I wish he had just one iota of Jamie or Barry’s confidence in himself and appreciated what he added to the dish. But this video especially he did fantastically well imo, because he started on a brief that was very difficult and instead of trying to overshoot and overachieve he kept a simple manageable vision for the final dish, executed the preparation of them well and communicated his idea to Jamie successfully as well. I will give credit where credit is due because I do actually really like Mike although it may not seem that way but he deserves more recognition for his performance in this video, not flapping or panicking and instead putting his influence on the dish

    Thing about bees, which separates them from other livestock, if the hive feels the beekeeper isn't doing a good enough job looking after them they'll just fly away and find somewhere else to make their hive. It's like a very basic contract between the beekeeper and the colony, where the colony gets protection in exchange for some honey. No other livestock can do that; mammals and fish are penned in, and birds raised for meat have their flight feathers clipped (if they haven't already been selectively bred over centuries to neuter their flight entirely)

    As far as the is honey vegan conversation goes, I think it depends what vegan you ask.
    I know 2 vegans - both consider locally sourced, ethical, honey vegan. As the bees help massively with gardens, and the bee keeper is only taking the excess honey, while also taking care of the hives and keeping the bees happy and healthy. As pollinators are on the decline (Ontario), it's important to have bee keepers keep healthy hives around.
    However, they don't consider mass produced honey vegan as there is no transparency behind how the bees are cared for, what goes into their care, etc.
    So - it depends! Some honey may be considered vegan by specific people, while others don't consider honey to be vegan at all.

    Theres debates around honey within vegan circles.
    You need to remember veganism is largely about three things:
    1) The cost of food. Eating meat is often just too expensive.
    2) Reducing/ending cruelty to animals.
    3) Mitigating the massive effect our food production has on the environment.
    So arguably monoculture crops aren't vegan because they destroy the stability of entire ecosystems.
    With honey though. If you buy from local keepers, who don't smoke out their bees, leave an adequate amount of honey with the bees for their health and the stability of the colony. And a keeper who uses native bees to the area. As human bred honey bees, which are faster producers, decimate local bee species, having huge domino effects on the health of the ecosystem around it. Then you could argue it's vegan.
