just finished the instal of a brand new transfer case and I could hear the 4WD ingage but I wasn't getting a dash light, this was the last piece I needed in a very long puzzle thanks so much!!
FYI there are several different switches that all have different part numbers. 2 types that have a pig tail plug and 2 types that plug onto the top of the switch.
The difference with many limit switches is how far you must depress the pin so they will change state. Many have a different width of neutral zone too. For example if you push it until it switches you can then let it out beyond the point where it switched to get it to switch the other way. This is similar to a compressor pressure switch where they are often adjustable. I've come across updated part numbers for these 4runner switches and I'm hoping the new ones have fixed whatever it was that made them so determined to fail. If I find an answer... I'll be back. I found these two part numbers a few minutes ago that are apparently the same part: 84222-35110 & 84222-35080. I haven't confirmed the similarity myself yet other than noticing a large price difference.
Got a 99 4runner limited,4x4 light flashing, changed the front axle switch, but no go.wonder if that's the problem on mine? thanks I'll check, good video.
I had a 7mm ball detent fall out when changing the tc fluid. Weird thing is everything works just fine still, no issues. Do you know what this might be? Maybe an additional spring loaded detent to help the shift rod stay put? I don’t think it’s a position switch detent since everything works just fine, but idk. Any input would he greatly appreciated. Thanks!
This is the most helpful video! HELP !!!! Can someone point me in the right direction in resolving my 98 4Runner issue? When I engage 4H it goes in silent but when it goes back to 2H (disengage) the is a loud bang (like a sled hammer bang). The green 4WD turns on after pressing the button turns off after pressing the button to disengage but no blinking. The is a delay for about 30 second to disengage as I drive down the road below 25 miles. My other 4Runner does a loud click only. I don't know the history on the car but I have changed all the oil already.
Do you know if this is the same for a later year 4runner? Year 2002 to be exact. I know the are the same generation but I'm wondering if the sensors would be the same.
I would say if the switch is faulty, then replacing it should fix the issue. The other area to test is the actuator. It's an easy test and I have a video showing it. ruclips.net/video/MjIXX7sXIQs/видео.html

Very informative great video buddy
very helpful video. Is it a 27mm to remove the 4lo and nuetral switches?
Yes, all three switches are 27mm
@@weijia8088 thank you!
Are the two indicator switches on the t case actuator different from the switch on the front diff?

Not sure but I'd me surprised if it was different. Easiest way is to call a Toyota parts dept. to confirm the part #.
Thanks for the tip! So I’m assuming after replacing the switch my 4wd should be able to switch in and out if 2wd without issues ?

Can it be replaced while on the car?
Don't see why not, the switch is not in a hard to reach spot.
Whats the wrench size?
27mm
