  • DVCC (Distributed Voltage and Current Control) is an awesome feature of Victron Energy power systems that intelligently coordinates charging your battery bank with multiple charging sources if you have Victron chargers and a GX device such as a Cerbo GX. This video dives into what it is and how it works!

Thanks for the great explanation. I have a Multiplus 2, all victron batteries, and Solar Charge controllers connected to a BMS v2 and Cerbo Gx. When connected to shore power at night, I'd like to have the 120V pass through but the Multiplus want's to charge the batteries. I'd rather prioritize the battery charging for the next day's PV charging. Would using the DVCC setting for limiting the charge current to 0 amps, stop the Multiplus from charging? Or is there an easy way to have the passthrough power while turning off the Charger? Thanks

@LoveTheLand , Great question. You could set the DVCC allowed charge current to "0", which would eliminate all amps going into the batteries. You would need to raise the DVCC charge current to start charging again.
A better solution would be to use the Multiplus 2's "Solar & Wind Priority" feature. You need to turn it on within the Multiplus' latest firmware and configuration, then you will have on/off control via the VictronConnect app, VRM or in on your GX device console. Solar & wind power are used to charge the battery, while the shore power is only used to prevent the battery from becoming too deeply discharged. You can select to charge your batteries to 100% with shore power, then shore power will stop charging until 7 days pass or the batteries reach a low level, then the MP2 will start charging off of shore power again. Passthru remains active throughout the process. Hopefully this helps. You can learn all about it here: www.victronenergy.com/media/pg/Solar_&_Wind_Priority/en/index-en.html

Hi, thanks for the video, a great contribution, but how can you use dvcc with lead acid batteries? Thanks

Can the epoch CAN enabled BMS control the CVL? (I think I know, but if you have been able to get it to change the CVL for absorption/float (eg, 13.8v/13.5v for epoch) like a Lynx BMS (eg, 14.2v/13.5v), that would be great info to share.) it appears to only control to a single CVL (no BMS logic to change CVL, and no CAN message to send the signal to GX device for this, either) and not let the battery float at the second (lower) voltage limit unless manual CVL change is made.
It also doesn’t have a pre-signal to protect the chargers (alternator) prior to a load-dump. A full charge protect fault could be costly at high alternator charge rates.

So if I have 2 of those Epoch batteries which are accepting 200 A of charge and my alternator puts out 200 A but the Orion dc to dc is only a 50 amp how many amps are going into the batteries? 50?

In that scenario, if you limited the maximum charge current to 200 amps in the GX device DVCC settings, the Orion XS (50 amp DC-DC charger) would attempt to charge at it's full capacity of 50 amps unless you have adjusted the settings in that Orion XS down below the 50 amp max.

Can you please tell if the WakeSpeed WS500 controller will work for my 1967 GM TDH-4519 city transit bus, it has the Detroit Diesel 6v71n engine with the 50dn dc generator with a external voltage regulator

Hi James, sorry but we're not familiar with that setup. I would recommend reaching out to Wakespeed tech support.

@VanlifeOutfitters it's a large gear driven oil cooled brushless DC generator with a external voltage regulator. I've tried to talk with them but no response. Can you please help me

I‘m so confused. I want to have my mppt‘s controlled through the bms and a cerbo so it can load disconnect the mppts whenthe battery is fully charged or to hot. But in my dvcc settings my mppts says:
It is not managed by the bms.
Also my multiplus has an alarm which says there is a bms assistent installed but the bms can‘t be found 🫠🫠
