So James was the man who raised Denise and who she thought was her father? And after getting her DNA results, she thought that a family friend, Paul, was going to turn out to be her father because of the names she was seeing in her DNA matches? But it turned out that Paul's father was Denise's biological father? Do I have that right
so my friend was adopted and decided to do his DNA and found out that 10 years after his birth his parents had gotten married and had 2 more children. He contacted them and has established a good relationship with both his parents and his full siblings. His partner decided to do hers too just for the fun of it. She found out that her dad wasn't her bio dad and that her actual father was a bronco rider on the rodeo circuit. As of 3 years ago, she had found 7 half-siblings with 7 different women and that was just those that had taken a DNA test. Dude cast his sperm far and wide.....
Endogamy is so interesting. It’s why I think I can’t figure out some of my closer matches. I think they appear that way due to some common ancestors in different branches of my tree. Does that sound right?
I can’t imagine what it would be like to find out, as an adult, that you aren’t who you thought you were. I haven’t done a DNA test myself (yet), but I know there would be no surprises of that magnitude. I have my mother’s nose, and everything else looks like my dad and his family. I still would like to see what it would show for ancestry. One of these days….
The social history & context is interesting (to me any rate). Those who lived through two world wars & it’s aftermath then the Boomers came of age & sowed Gen Xers far & wide… the situation the frivolity occurred in & then society trying to solve the “problems” & really just ended up creating more serious, intergenerational problems, trauma even. Much wisdom can be gleaned from our forebears’ choices.
@@SailorChic I love their videos and I think they are very well intended. However, this is not the first one that I have seen that I have thought that either the editing or the story telling has left something out or something was left dangling. I think someone needs to look at the videos before posting them to make sure the stories make sense. Again, I think they do great work but some of the videos are difficult to follow and make sense.
Agreed. If she thought her bio dad was Paul Jr but turned out to be Paul Sr, then she would’ve believed Paul Sr was her grandfather growing up - but he’s described as a family friend. And who’s James?
You have to be more careful not to use the affair, when the relationship could have been rape or manipulation. There was some kind of relationship between the older man and the younger woman, but you cannot assume it was consensual, especially with a large age gap.
I'm confused and a visual learner. I need a chart/map/tree to wrap my head around this. Thanks for the video and all of the work that you do.
Glad it was helpful!
💖 Yikes! What a tangled web. Hurrah to Denise for navigating it.
Thanks for watching!
A chart would be easier to follow in cases like this ❤
It was complicated for sure! Thanks for the feedback.

JUST WOW!!!! No more secrets thanks to DNA!!!

Yes, the amount of shared DNA could be inflated because of endogamy. Best of luck on your search Angela!

Thank you. What did you say was a good source when dealing with endogamy?

I'm sorry but I am a bit confused. So how is James related to Denise and Paul senior? Was this ever explained or researched in regards to endogamy?
I watched this three times trying to figure this out to! It was not explained clearly enough.

Thanks for the feedback! We are a work in progress and still fine tuning the skill.
