I didn’t find out I was adopted until I was 49 years old. On top of that I was the result of a short fling between two middle age divorcees so when I got my results back my bio father had just died at the age of 94 and my 90 year old mother was in the late stages of Alzheimer’s. I did met her on her death bed but she was no longer communicating. Not knowing if my father knew about me or not is the worst. Maybe it’s better I don’t know. I guess having a relationship with my bio parents just wasn’t meant to be for me. But I hold a lot of resentment toward my adopted parents and sister for keeping this secret from me all those years.
They kept the secret to protect you and keep you secure. Why care about someone whose only role was DNA and abandonment?! In a sense we're all related to each other they say if you go far enough back. So why care! You had a good life? Be thankful. Some people dont have a good life even while growing up with their bio parents. So Count your blessings and enjoy life.
All I can say is that if you reach out to find the person you are looking for, have enough class to follow through and don't break their heart. I have a daughter that I did not know about and after she found out I was not wealthy, she cut off all correspondence. I wish she would have never contacted me now.
My step adopted father just passed away. My last parent. WELL my birth father is out there some where. He has no idea about me. I hope I find him. Pray for me please everyone I find him.
@@daviddevault8700 I havent started looking yet. Its pretfy heavy duty. I will start soon. I adopted 2 children last 2 Januarys ago. My son not adopted is 35 we look just alike. Beautiful story. I found a second cousin using ancestry and my heritage. I've connected a lot of my family together. Family history is a wonderful thing.
Yes me to I just met a 2nd half cousin whose around my age and shes amazing! She hasn't stopped talking to me and has continued to want to get to know me even though I'm worried shell reject me. She says she is so proud to have me in her life and that I found her
The amount of CMs is key. My 3 half sisters who have tested range from 1440 to 1860. Full siblings would obviously be higher. First cousins are in the 900s for me.

I have recently discovered a 2nd half cousin through ancestry dna. It turned out that our relation was fairly strong we shared the same great grandmom and her grand pop was my half great uncle. I have spoken with her since January and I am very scared that she will reject me and ditch me but since then she has said she enjoys talking to me and doesnt want to let me go. This whole experience has been life changing. Thanks for sharing your story
I watch these videos to keep my hope alive. I've been searching for my biological dad for quite some time now and although I've got some 2nd-3rd cousin matches on Ancestry and MyHeritage I still haven't found him. I've sent out so many msgs to different people and 92% have never responded back. I'm not giving up so wish me luck. I'm not sure if he even knows I exist because I was told someone else was my dad my entire life until I took a dna test trying to find some maternal family history, imagine my surprise when I found out my life has been one big lie.😢
That's so hard. At least with DNA now people can't lie to their children anymore cos they can be found out. Hope you find him and any half siblings he might have had.
My husband was adopted. He had never felt the need to look. Then his dad passed in 2020. He also turned 50 last year and felt if he didn't start looking now he may never be able find anyone alive. He did ancestry late last year and matched with his bio mom and 2 half siblings. Unfortunately he has not been able to make contact. He wrote his bio mom through ancestry giving her updates on his life and asking for family medical history and a relationship if that is what she wanted. She read the message but didn't respond. He doesn't want to stir the pot so just left it at that. His siblings haven't logged in in over a year. We are not sure on the dad side. It's showing a 1st cousin but they haven't signed in either.
I did an ancestry dna test in March. It matched me to my paternal grandparents. I contacted their and we will find out in an hour if dna for sure matches. We have alot of similarities. Im very hopeful and very nervous.
And yet there are kids who don’t get how important their parents are…..and the live close by. It’s exhausting to have such spoiled people who take it all for granted.
There are so many wonderful stories out there about people who have found loved ones through My Heritage DNA. But there are other similar organisations out there, organisations that offer the same services. It would be a great idea if there was a central data base where all the records of these people can be stored and accessed. It would be sad if 2 people seeking each other had their DNA results on data bases that were different and inaccessible to each other.
I did the dna kit with Myheritage back in 2016. I got my results back and never thought anything else about. I never got on the website. I got a email 2.24.2022 notification showing that a message had been sent from a lady stating that we were related. After seeing her message I noticed that there was a message sent 2019 from a guy stating that we shared dna and he says we were brother and sister. I asked him what his dad's name was and his dad was in the military? That's wasn't my dad's name...so I told him that I never heard of his dad's name before. My dad had a paternity test done when I was a child but my results came back that he was my dad. I said that he wanted to meet me if I am his sister I told him that I am open to it, but he needs to have a conversation with his mom to see why we share the same dna and to see if she knows my dad.
I have had two dna tests by different companies. My Heritage is vague on its results of irish scots and welsh. It doesnt tell you how much of each . However. I am confused with my DNA result with a close match it says Half Uncle 51% Ist Cousin 49% . Ive no idea who the person is but he also shows up on my brothers DNA Match. So how can somebody be a half uncle or 2st Cousin or both ? Im still waiting for my heritage to tell me what is the breakdown of 96.2% Irish scots welsh . Actually ancestry told me 49% Welsh which pleases me living in North Wales. Half Uncle First Cousin ?

These stories bring back so many pleasant memories of meeting my birth mother when I was 25. This just brings pleasant tears to my eyes !
I've been so scared ever since I sent in my swabs. I'm 17 and my mother never told me who was father was. I hope this gives me answers.
It’s May 2022, did you find him?
It's better to get some answers good or bad than going thru life not knowing. Good luck and stay strong💕

It was the wrong thing to do, but unfortunately people make decisions out of fear. We all need to be forgiven for things we do wrong. :)
