Agree with your choice of just clearance the bell housing. Custom builds are filled with decisions like these. I'm often tempted to over think this kind of stuff.
That is always the war in my garage when I am close to start a new engine on a rebuild car. Too much things to do, so much last issues to solved and the excitement of the event that get close to happened. No pain, no gain but what a good feeling when you hear the guys running. Keep pushing Tom.
Exactly! My garage looks like a war zone too. Saturday mornings I take my time to put away tools and chat here with others. Nice and relaxing after a hard day being a soldier!
Good work Tom. You gave a lesson on patience and being thorough. The engine looks good. The Weber’s really help that along. The painted tins you spent so much time on really set the whole thing off. Looking forward to hearing it run! 👍👍
Tom, great update on the car. Glad to see the "Temporary Engine" going in! Did you finally name the car Sandy or just name the muffler...ha ha ha! Kudo's
Hi Tom, Congrats on getting the engine in!!! This video was actually super timely for me because I'm trying to sort out the seal channel in the engine compartment. Mine was all rusted out. The front seal is intact, but the rear and sides are not. Is there anyway you could send me a pick of what the channel looks like under the engine mounts? Like how do they bend around the corner? Is the channel two pieces or the U shape all one channel? Thanks!
Random question, does glass need to be removed during a restoration? I have some surface rust near the targa glass and I am dreading removing that and reinstalling it.

Never had to clearance. No noise when. Driving, so I got lucky.
Good update Tom. Today I tacked in my sunroof delete panel and made some bumper mounting brackets.
That's awesome Walter. Your car is looking great.

Thanks! It's been a long journey.
Awe, such a teaser at 34:26. The engine sure looks great sitting in the car Tom. Nice work.
Thanks Russ! I hope all is well with you and your family.
Another great video Tom!
Looks good with the engine back in it's home.
Yes, it's almost like it belongs in there
Great teamwork !
Always nice to have a helper that doesn't drop a car on you❤️

Ha ha, no that's just the mufflers name. Not sure how that came to be?

Almost there. Good work saludos 🖖🏿
Yes almost😀
Very cool.
Tom, what's your source for the German braided fuel hose?
I believe I got this from west coast metric.

I think it should be removed. You will probably find more rust in the window channel. Let me know what you find.
@@GarageTimeAutoResto thanks, saw budget builds remove it albeit and edited version of that. Can the seal be saved or do I need to buy another?
I saved my seal, but then again my car is a coupe and is much easier than targa so I'm told. I've never played with a targa?
@@GarageTimeAutoResto oh, I would ship it to you but I'm hoping to turn it into a Porschela
What's Porsche la?
Don’t worry.
Schedules are so you can keep track of how far behind you are.
That's about right, ha ha
"E Brake cable" ???? That is modern for a 912..... :-)
Ha ha. I just learned that more 912 were sold than 911 in 65 66
@@GarageTimeAutoResto As a kid in the 1970's I used to see an older couple drive past my house in a White 912..it always looked new, a beautiful car
People love 912's. There's something to be said for simplicity and light weight.
